    video camera
  • A camera for recording images on videotape or for transmitting them to a monitor screen

  • The modern CCTV video camera is available in both monochrome (black and white) and color. Cameras can be set in fixed-positions or placed on 'pan-and-tilt' devices that allow the camera to be moved up, down, left and right.

  • A video camera is a camera used for electronic motion picture acquisition, initially developed by the television industry but now common in other applications as well.

  • A camera that records onto digital or videotape.

    how to
  • Providing detailed and practical advice

  • A how-to or a how to is an informal, often short, description of how to accomplish some specific task. A how-to is usually meant to help non-experts, may leave out details that are only important to experts, and may also be greatly simplified from an overall discussion of the topic.

  • (How To’s) Multi-Speed Animations

  • Practical advice on a particular subject; that gives advice or instruction on a particular topic

    flip
  • lightly throw to see which side comes up; "I don't know what to do--I may as well flip a coin!"

  • somersault: an acrobatic feat in which the feet roll over the head (either forward or backward) and return

  • Glib; flippant

  • impudent: marked by casual disrespect; "a flip answer to serious question"; "the student was kept in for impudent behavior"

    fix
  • Fasten (something) securely in a particular place or position

  • repair: restore by replacing a part or putting together what is torn or broken; "She repaired her TV set"; "Repair my shoes please"

  • Direct one's eyes, attention, or mind steadily or unwaveringly toward

  • informal terms for a difficult situation; "he got into a terrible fix"; "he made a muddle of his marriage"

  • fasten: cause to be firmly attached; "fasten the lock onto the door"; "she fixed her gaze on the man"

  • Lodge or implant (an idea, image, or memory) firmly in a person's mind

"I AM MAX"

My pro account expires tomorrow. Hard to believe it's been a year. Anywho, I shall be reduced to what, 200 photos? I'm not sure. I think it's only 200. Does that mean all the favourites of my photos disappear too? That'd be sad. I had a lot on them last year.

I would have preferred a less overcast day, & a clearer background, but this is okay. It actually took me about 5 minutes to get rid of the chair & the shadow - in the past it would have taken me way longer, so I was pleased. Anyway, this is Max. I saw "I am Legend" with him in the cinema & then he said it should be Max, because he is a legend, so I occasionally think of that now.

Anyway, he's over from Germany. I think I spent around 2hours with him today before he had to go over to Amy's. I've never really used guys in photos - apart from my brother - so I had no idea what to do with him. He suggested flying, but didn't want to copy anything that I'd done with Hannah, so he decided to be a superhero. I quite like it.

---

Last night I went to sleep before it got too light outside. It was like sometime after 4am. Sometimes if it's just a little bit too light I really struggle. My Dad tried to get me up at 11am & called from school to tell me the weather was nice but the humidity was better due to the nice breeze & that he'd be home in an hour. I figured that if the weather was really going to be nice then it'd be nice in an hour when my Dad got home, & that I'd almost manage 8 hours sleep by then. So at least I'm getting a proper amount of sleep, even if it's at weird hours.

I just spent the hour reading & then editing. I'm sure if you calculate the amount of hours I'm spending editing, the amount of work I'm giving them, & the hours I spent actually photographing that I'm being underpaid. My Dad said not to whinge. It was a bit too breezy out for me, so I lay in the Garden Room again with my legs in the sun while editing. & that's how I passed my afternoon. & I made lunch & meant to read the paper but freaking forgot. Annoying. My Dad told me about the end of his speech (he;'s finished writing it now) & it sounded really good. I wish I could listen to it this year, but I'm basically not allowed to go. Just as he finished telling me I got a text from Max asking if I was ready for him to come over. I forgot to reply (was too busy listening to my Dad play 'Crazy in Love' - an awesome song - in his study) but eventually text back telling him I needed to put on some clothes. Obviously I was dressed, I just wasn't dressed appropriately for company.

Max came round just after 5pm, & we went to sit out in the garden & just chatted. I didn't really have much to say. I used to be able to chat to him for hours. I guess unless I'm going to describe what I've been reading or what photos I've been editing I don't have much to say these days. He asked about this guy I used to hang out with a bit, & told me he's decided he actually likes his girlfriend now. I pity whoever he ends up marrying.

Hugh came home then & came out to say hey. He looked quite bad. Sunburnt, eyes puffy, possible hayfever. Poor thing. I said I would usually hang out with him, but I haven't seen Max in like a year, so . . . & then Max & I talked about me ruling the world - it will happen. Oh, & how Tristan's come out now. I told him about meeting his boyfriend, & then there was the question of receiving or giving. It doesn't matter who I'm talking to about his coming out, they will always bring that up. I said something stupid & then Max thought I was talking from personal experience, which I totally freaking wasn't. Eew. Hugh came outside again to tell me about how he basically yelled at their instructor & what an awful time he'd had. I just wanted to give him a massive hug, but he probably wouldn't have appreciated that in front o Max. But he seemed so upset! He went back in then & I fed Max. Well, he had some dry toast & like 3 glasses of water. Apparently expos dehydrate you. When I went to fetch him a glass of water Hugh was in the kitchen & looking even worse. He'd just gotten back from the nurse checking him out, & apparently it's not hayfever, or conjunctivitis. He had muscle damage, or was it tissue damage . . . aren't they practically the same thing? & was basically battered all over. He listed off everything he'd been checked for. I worry so much when he's away, & this doesn't make me feel any better. & he also told me that there's a really high probability that he'll see a bear when he's Canada, which just makes me worry even more.

Sooo then it was photo time. He refused to get wet though, so that stopped that plan. Actually, I've been wanting to do a water photo with Hannah for a while, but I worry that I will bore her with my constant snapping. He suggested flying, & I think this was the 3rd attempt, out of 4. The first time I didn't focus,

Christmas Shopping

Christmas Shopping

I just had to unbox this Christmas gift before it's given away. The Lumix LX-5 in white is a stunning piece. I love the white, except it's a bit of a chick camera in white. So I guess I better give it away.

For all you gear nuts, they've fixed a bunch of things that I don't like about the LX-3/Leica D-Lux 4 that are immediately evident. the detents on the mode dial are way stiffer, so it doesn't flip out of mode as easily. The 1:1 is a nice touch, and the thumb wheel at the back is also very nice, compared to the joystick on the earlier version.

I actually prefer the ergonomics of the Panasonic over the Leica in the grip. The one-touch button for video is nice too.

After I give it, I'm going to borrow it (she also wants some lessons in how to use it, so the borrow will be the remuneration), and do some comparisons between it and the LX-3/ D-Lux 4.
