The Beatles : " A HARD DAY'S NIGHT " 1964
The Beatles' film " A Hard Day's Night " was at the London Pavilion Leicester Square in 1964 . The London Pavilion cinema had superb sound compared to my local " flea-pits " .
The Film had been "world premiered" at the London Pavilion on July 6th 1964 .
As for The Beatles, they had performed in my local Nottingham , Odeon Cinema on Angel Row near the Old Market Square on May 23rd of 1963 with other performers one of whom was Roy Orbison the American rock'n'roller whom I and many others went to see .
As at that time only a relative few of the general public had even heard of the Beatles it was surprising to the slightly older members of the audience at the second house performance that there was a clear division of favours or loyalty towards either The Beatles or Roy Orbison ; and though the American was very enthusiastically appreciated it was the foursome who were given the loudest reception .
Seated in large numbers particularly at the left hand side of the theatre's stalls were numerous young girls who screamed immediately the curtains went back to reveal their own personal favourites. Then as the group began their "Please,Please Me" song the screaming girls raised their noise to even louder approval .
