An Ebay purchase during August 2007, this little camera is the companion to the Kodak Cameo 110 and is also known as the Cameo Motor EX. This version was made as the official camera for the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. Both cameras do a good job for what they are and seem to be very dependable. It operates on 2 AAA Alkaline Batteries. In fact, it does such a good job that I decided to add another Cameo Motor Ex (plain version) to the stable.

According to the instruction sheet:

'It features easy film loading with automatic prewind and advance; automatic film-speed sensing (DX/DXN); a focus free glass lens; swing-up KODAK SENSALITE Flash for red-eye reduction; folding viewfinder; and shutter lock if the batteries are very low or the flash needs charging. It also features a large liquid-crystal-display (LCD) panel that shows the frame number, low-battery symbol, flash-charging symbol, and mode indicators for fill flash, self-timer, and mid-roll rewind."

The instructions further state: "Your camera uses any 35 mm color or black-and-white print film with a speed of ISO 100 200 400 or 1000. Film with an ISO less than 100 or non-DX/DXN coded film will not operate in this camera."

As of May 2011 I now have the regular Cameo Motor EX and a manual wind version of this same camera.

Found some old 828 family Kodachromes. Beautiful color even for the plainest of subjects. The format was intended to help wean all of us from that nasty film requiring such extensive waste in production (35mm). Those millions of sprocket holes punched out in 35mm format film were not recycled, just tossed. Kodak saw profits literally go in the garbage. 828 needed fewer holes to transport the film through the camera. Less holes = more money. Kind of the Betamax format of its day. Same outcome as Betamax, people favored 35mm more then and now.

You can get a copy of the camera shown here for a few dollars. Simple plastic build quality, cheapy lens, finicky shutter; but the little suckers have survived by the millions.

And yes, people did do that to little girl's hair back in the day.
