Log Furniture - California King Bed - Unfinished

This classic, spindle style log bed has graced American homes throughout the land. A wonderful addition to any rustic style home or any home in need of some rustic style, this bed is as comfortable as it is charming. Handcrafted in Montana using solid, American grown wood, each piece is skip peeled by hand using old-fashioned draw knives for a one-of-a-kind look, making this piece as unique as it is functional. The mortise and tenon joinery system employed by our artisans has been used for millennia to join multiple components into a single, solid and strong assembly thus ensuring a truly heirloom quality piece that will last for generations to come. Two log side rails per side increase the strength and rigidity while simultaneously adding value. Some assembly required. 20-year limited warranty included at no additional charge.

This was an interesting trip. We had to pickup log furniture at Montana Woodworks in Rexford, Montana and deliver to Tacoma, Washington so it could be reloaded on a freighter destined for Anchorage, Alaska.

Even more interesting was the drive up to the village and back down! Montana Woodworks is located in the Rexford Amish Village - Rexford, Montana. Rexford was originally located on the Kootenai River, but with the damming of the river in the 1970s the original townsite was flooded and the town was moved to its current location approximately 10 miles west of Eureka on Montana Highway 37.

Directions:
Follow Hwy 37 south of Rexford, Montana approx. 10 miles to Lake Koocanusa
Bridge, right turn onto bridge, right turn (north) staying to the right on
the FDR road, turn right onto West Kootenai Road, follow to Whitetail Drive,
turn left. Montana Woodworks is about 15 miles north of the Koocanusa bridge.
Don't turn or veer left off onto any dirt roads until you reach Whitetail Drive,
or you'll end up in some wild backcountry!

I didn't get any furniture on this trip, but, I did get another Amish cook book to add to my collection.

recently we stayed at the Log Cabin Motel near Jones Mills, PA. It's 7 miles or so off the Turnpike's Donegal exit in the Laurel Highlands resort area.

The handcrafted furniture is a real winner, as are the pine paneling and touches like oil lamps converted to porchlights. Also, next door is a wild animal park and petting zoo. It was mighty interesting to sit out on the long porch and listen as the wolves howled at sunset.
