Here we are on our last day in Kauai. I don't know why we look so cheery, we didn't even want to leave yet. Don't I look goofy in that hat? I love that hat though... It saved me. The sun and I don't get along so well anymore and as much as we do in those 7 days, after a while the sun is just too much. A few years ago, we spent what was supposed to be a romantic week in Santa Barbara but we both got really sun burned. I was burned so bad I had a fever and blisters. So, ever since then I've had to be careful or else I break out into a prickly heat rash on my arms, chest and face. Not cute...
I have a good remedy for a sunburn, now that I've experienced one, I never want to get one again so I made sure I read about all the sun burn remedies. We tried it on Scott last year... I saved him, he owes me one. This is what you do:

Get some milk and get it to room temperature. Dip some gauze ( I used a wash cloth) in the milk, wring it out but make sure to leave some to drench the skin with and lay it over the burn. Let it sit for about 15 minutes and do the same to another area. I don't recall exactly how it works, but it has something to do with the proteins in the milk repairing the cells in your skin you damaged with the sun burn. You're supposed to let the milk dry on your skin and stay like that for a while.... yeah, it might get stinky, but it reallyyyyy is the best remedy. Paired with some Advil and lots of water, your sun burn will turn nice and golden instead of a lizard-like peel.

How Do You Like Them Apples? (Explored...)

How Do You Like Them Apples? (Explored...)

For anyone who hasn't heard yet (ha), the Yankees are going back to the World Series! I am SO happy! GO YANKEES!

How does a Miami Dolphins' fan, living in Albuquerque, NM, become a Yankees fan? Glad you asked...

I was a Yankees fan before I was a Dolphins' fan and LONG before I ever moved to the desert. When I was a little girl, my mom left when I was in 3rd grade so I was raised with two brothers, by our dad. I was surrounded by sports. My older brother was all-state, all-everything in every sport he played. I had to like sports! :)

Growing up in Kansas, my family was Royals' fans. Guys like Splittorff and Brett were fun, but they didn't have the cool pinstripe uniforms! ha. Lou Piniella, Catfish Hunter and Reggie Jackson...those were the guys I liked to watch. Honestly, I think at 10 or 11 years old, it was the pinstripes that won me over.

As an adult, I lived in the Northeast for about nine years. In the New York area, you either love the Yankees or you hate them. I started loving them more and more. And just so you know...one of the greatest feelings ever was sitting in the stands at the old Yankee Stadium.

Oh, and as for the Dolphins...my husband's family converted me back in '91! :)

EXPLORED...#152, that's way higher than my others. Lol. Thanks Yankees' fans! :)
