What it is:This brush blends face products-wet or dry-into the skin for a flawless finish. What it does:Synthetic fibers extend past the goat hairs to pick up two layers of product, which translates into a satiny appearance. The compact bristle packing gives ultimate control, too. The two levels of bristles let you layer product beautifully-and determine how sheer or heavy you want your coverage to be. The synthetic taklon hairs allow you to use it with wet or creamy products, like compact foundation.

Using a makeup sponge, smear the grey or black around. When doing your jawline you should have a thin line directly along the jawbone. Use vigorous downward strokes. Going along the jawbone will not produce a good effect. Do the same under the nose (if you’re using it there)

For the eye sockets, notice I had applied makeup above and below the eye. Close your eye and rub all over. You want to get below the eye, the socket near the bridge of the nose as well under the eyebrow and the eyelid itself. It should be darkest at the corner of the eye and under the eyebrow. Stroke it out further so it is less dark the farther from the eye socket. You want to give the impression of sunken eyes and shadows.

A stipple brush is like a really holey sponge. If you wish, apply some grey to the stipple brush. Blot the brush against a paper towel so that it is not soggy with makeup. Gently, but quickly, blot wherever you want that color. You can see I’ve applied it to the areas where I applied liquid latex. DO NOT SMEAR. You blot it. You dot it. Lightly. Apply too much pressure and it smears. You want the grey or black to just cover the surface texture, but not get into the nooks and crannies.

FOTD 13 August 2008 (A Variation on Pink)

Pink is not my favourite colour, but I sometimes like experimenting with pink eyeshadows.
For this look I used

*Nars 'Outlaw' blush, applied with MAC #187 duo-fibre stippling brush

*MAC paint pot in 'Soft Ochre', applied all over the lid with MAC #239 brush
*Givenchy 'Shadow Show' eyeshadow in 'Rouge Vip' (it's a vibrant red), applied wet near the eyelashes with MAC #239 brush
*Lancome 'Color Design' eyeshadow in 'Indian Rose', applied wet at the middle of the lid with MAC #239 brush
*Bourjois 'Suivez Mon Regard' loose eyeshadow in 'Regard Rose Or', applied wet on the browbone with AccaKappa #137 brush
*Light pink eyeshadow from Chanel 'Les 4 Ombres' in 'Blue Notes', applied on the external part of the eye and on the inner corner with AccaKappa #137 brush
*Deborah black eyepencil (applied in the waterline) and eyeliner; no mascara

*Nars 'Butterfield 8' lip lacquer, applied with MAC #316 lip brush (I love love love the colour of this lip lacquer, it's perfect for a nude-lip effect); no lipliner
