This is the old homestead behind Jewell Bonner's house in Rabbittown. It is like a mini museum that reflects a time long gone. Jewell Bonner's wife Josie wrote the history of the homestead and put it on a plaque that hangs next to the front door.

This home place was reconstructed and rebuilt in May of 2001. It was first constructed in or around the 1930's. Major and Clara Burns bought this homestead in the 1940's. They lived in the home while Gene and Joan were both children. Clara's parents, Mark and Bular Parris, moved in this home in the 1940's, until their later death. You can almost hear the echo's of the past, and smell the aroma coming from Ma Bular's kitchen. Sunday's were very big events in this home. Ma and Pa Parris had parents that would come for Sunday dinners. Ma cooked large amounts of food in dishpans. She would cook fried chicken, fried potatoes, vegetables, and top it off with a dishpan full of banana pudding. Everyone loved eating, and spending time with them. When everyone began to go home, Pa Mark would always say, "Ya'll spend the night, if we don't have the beds, we can just hang you on a nail!"

Pa Mark always enjoyed singin and playing the banjo. Four to five generations have descended from this one house. Josie was inspired to tear the house down, and rebuild it behind her house. Josie and Jewell began tearing the house down piece-by-piece, in which they would then carry it to be rebuilt behind their house. Jewell is seventy-two years old, and yet he is still strong. Josie loved the home because she had so many memories locked up inside of it as a child. I pray God will anoint blessings to this home and everyone who enters it. If you would, just pause for a moment, and step back into time to my childhood memories.

The kitchen has a cooktop, countertop convection oven, refrigerator, reverse osmosis drinking water system, and a Boss water softener. Lots of cabinets for a park model. Dining area has a small table with two chairs but room to add two more.
