Gothic Coffee Table
- A coffee table, also called a cocktail table, is a style of long, low table which is designed to be placed in front of a sofa, to support beverages (hence the name), magazines, feet, books (especially coffee table books), and other small items to be used while sitting, such as coasters.

We spent a long weekend in Chicago, which meant a walk from the hotel to the Art Institute of Chicago. Not only is it one of the greatest art museums in the world - made even better with the recent addition of the modern wing - but it's also one of the most liberal art museums I've ever been to when it comes to letting visitors use their cameras. Basically, if it's part of their permanent collection you can fire away.
At the same time, I've never understood taking a photograph of a painting. Go in the gift shop and buy a coffee table book of the museum's collection if you want to look at the art you've just seen.
But I do think it's interesting to see people interacting with art. I especially liked this older couple sitting on a bench in front of Grant Wood's American Gothic. I thought they made for a nice juxtaposition with the couple in the painting.
I recently read that this painting was second only to the Mona Lisa for being the most recognized and reproduced work of art in the world. Which is nice, since Grant Wood is from my home state of Iowa, grew up about 20 miles away from where I grew up, and was a teacher at the University of Iowa.

As i said , this is an outfit that i wore for my art car parade, and the owner and desisigner of the bustle skirt used me as her model. Also you will see my first tattoo. This is in honor or 3 things. First and most important, celebrating my 4 years of being sober. Second, the butterfly is a painting my mom did and i had it copied in her honer. Last the moon is a sticker , the very first on my art car. I believe that tatoos must have meaning, otherwise you are following every one elses trails. I beat my own drum. Anyway the photos are the begining of my modeling carrer, plus i took these myself as i am doing photography shows, another great thing about houston....I am going to be in a coffee table book in december for one of my photos!!! I will post my grant submission photos soon!!! Also i chose this particular photo to show the bloming flowers along with the dead tree to show how life and death coexist in beauty
