Wrist surgery to sideline Hawks' Bickell

Chicago Blackhawks winger Bryan Bickell will be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks after undergoing wrist surgery Monday.

Bickell had surgery Monday morning to repair two tendons in his right wrist and was at home recovering when the Hawks flew to Vancouver for Game 7, a source said.

Bickell was injured in Game 2 when he suffered the cut from the skate of a Canucks player, believed to be Sami Salo. He was allowed to keep playing, but the surgery was done to prevent further damage.

"Bryan Bickell underwent surgery today with our hand surgeon, Dr. Weidrich, to repair a tendon lacerated during Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals," the Blackhawks said in a statement. "While the surgery was anticipated since the injury occurred, Bryan wanted to play as long as possible before time ran out to complete the procedure appropriately. We anticipate a full recovery in approximately six-to-eight weeks."
