10th Annual Nike Hoop Summit
USA Basketball announced on Feb. 13 that Memphis recruit Derrick Rose (Simeon Vocational / Chicago, Ill.) was one of 10 players named to the USA Basketball Junior National Select Team that will compete in the 10th Annual 2007 Nike Hoop Summit.
Joining Rose on the 2007 USA Team are high school standouts: Jerryd Bayless (St. Mary's H.S. / Phoenix, Az.); Michael Beasley (Notre Dame Prep / Frederick, Md.); Jonny Flynn (Niagara Falls H.S. / Niagara Falls, N.Y.); Donté Greene (Towson Catholic H.S. / Baltimore, Md.); Kevin Love (Lake Oswego H.S. / Lake Oswego, Ore.); O.J. Mayo (Huntington H.S. / Huntington, W.Va.); Patrick Patterson (Huntington H.S. / Huntington, W.Va.); Kyle Singler (South Medford H.S. / Medford, Ore.); and Nolan Smith (Oak Hill Academy, Va. / Upper Marlboro, Md.).

Named head coach of the 2007 USA Team was Pat Fitterer (Eisenhower High School / Yakima, Wash.). Fitterer served as the assistant coach for last year's victorious USA Hoop Summit Team and as the head coach of the USA White Team that captured gold at the 2005 Youth Development Festival. Tagged as assistant coach was Douglas Mitchell (North Central High School / Indianapolis, Ind.), who also served as Fitterer's assistant coach for the 2005 USA White Team and as an assistant for the USA North Team at the 2003 Youth Development Festival. The coach and player selections were made by the USA Basketball Men's Junior Development Committee and approved by the USA Basketball Executive Committee.
Featuring 11 players from 10 countries across four continents, the World roster includes four guards, Nihad Djedovic (FC Barcelona / Bosnia), Chen Jianghua (Guangdong Tigers / China), Aleksandar Ugrinoski (Arkadia Traiskirchen, Austria / Croatia) and Petteri Koponen (Honka Espoo / Finland); five forwards Omri Caspi (Hapoel Galil Elyon / Israel), Alexis Wangmene Mang-Ikri (Blair Academy, N. J. / Cameroon), Nicholas Batum (Le Mans / France), Emir Preldzic (Ljublijana / Slovenia) and Nemanja Aleksandrov (Crvena Zvedna / Serbia); center Giorgi Shermadini (Maccabi Tbilisi / Georgia) and forward/center Alexis Ajinca (Pau-Orthez / France).

The World Team at Nike Hoop Summit 2007 will be coached, for the third time, by respected Australian national coach Rob Beveridge, whose career highlights include leading Australia to the gold medal at the 2003 FIBA Junior World Championship.
