Week 9 Saturday ~ In our full day before Daddy came home from his business trip, I forgot to take a photo. So this is her watching Wallace and Gromit while waiting for daddy to arrive home from the airport! I had to bring Hudson, our old dog, to the vet this morning and figured, since he is so mellow, that it would be a piece of cake with the baby...so, so, so wrong... Hudson took one look at the vet and freaked...he may be 77 in people years, with a bad hind end but it took me, the vet, three technicians ( with a fourth holding the baby) and a muzzle to get through the appointment. That is bad enough, but then the baby pood through his diaper...and his jeans...and his blanket...right onto my cream cardigan. Right in the office. Prunes, no less. So then, poo covered, I go to put the dog in the truck so I can go back and pay peacefully...I can not get the dog back in the truck because his back is too sore now...a lady offers to hold my dirty baby ( I warned her) and I still can not get the dog in the truck ( he is 31 kg of "not going in that damn truck" at this point)...I go back in the office, get a technician and another gentleman waiting for his appointment - and a muzzle - to get Hudson loaded up. We do. Finally. I go to pay, my credit card doesn't work. Baby is still in my arms, poo filled and smiling. Sigh. It finally works and I get outta there, with, um...sympathetic???...laughter following me... I go to put the baby in his carseat ( figuring at this point I will change him at home as I have nowhere to change him now that the dog is in the truck)...nope. It has travelled all the way up the front and back of my child. "It" needed no further description. Sighsighsigh. Change him sitting up in the front of the truck, into new everything...and finally leave... They kicked my ass this morning. But I am laughing. Cuz it is funny. And this shit never happens to me. Well, it didn't used to. Things I learned today: Vet visits now fall under husband duty Dogs do not forget vets they have bitten before, no matter how long you wait to go back Vets do not forget dogs that have bitten them before no matter how long yo uwait to go back Cream cardigans are not a wise fashion choice with babies Prunes are not a wise breakfast choice with babies I need a bigger truck Or a nanny Neither of which are going to happen Old dogs need lots of help 678$ is a lot of money any which way you look at it, no matter how much you love your dogs Gemma Easter 2007 Gemma's first Easter 2007. Just SOOC I have a love / hate relationship with food. I love, love, love eating food, but I hate the things it does to my body. I would be ok if i could stop at just 1 biscuit, or 2 chocolates, or even 3 slices of hot buttery toast. But no. I have a terrible self-destruct button that triggers me to binge, and when I binge I can put away vast quantities of junk. I first 'discovered' Slimming World about 17 years ago, when I was at College. I had already done Rosemary Conley, Weight Watchers, The Cabbage Soup diet, the Tuc biscuit/cottage cheese and beetroot diet, the milk and apples diet...........and many others besides. SW seemed to offer a great solution - eat as much as you like of certain foods, but cut out the crap! It worked, for a bit. And then I put on more than I lost and the cycle began again. I think I must have been to about 8 different classes in my local area. I used to lose a bit, put a bit (more) on.........etc etc etc. And then I had children. I was pregnant! I could eat for two! I wasn't on a diet any more! And that is how, in May 2008, I reached the grand weight of 18 stone 4lbs. Edward was 6 months old, so I had no excuses that I was carrying a bit of baby weight. I was carrying a LOT of extra weight and it needed to be sorted. I was delighted, the week before Christmas 2009 to weigh in at 12 stone 2lbs :-) It's been tough. Bloody hard actually. Fast craft: initial singularity I wanted to make a personalized onesie* for baby Emerson. First I had thought of a heat-transferred or screenprinted image of Ralph Waldo, but decided against anything that you couldn't wash a million times, or that might feel unpleasant against the skin. This was the fastest craft I have ever crafted. Here's how to make an embroidered monogrammed onesie in 15 minutes. 1. Go to the thrift store and buy a onesie. I got this one for a dollar. 2. Using a pencil, draw the letter(s) you want to embroider. One of the appealing factors to this aesthetic is the simplicity, so don't overdo it with the serifs. 3. Using sewing thread (I knotted the ends together, giving me a doubled stitch), stitch over the pencil marks. I went for longer outward stitches and short back-facing stitches. If the fabric were see-thru, it would look like this: -•-•-•- 4. Knot the thread and trim ends. 5. Feel the bask of pleasure that comes with crafting. *Jason's taken to calling onesies (like this one) "singularities". Day 121 - To Write Love On Her Arms Okay, I know that today wasn't the day, but I didn't want to wait until the day for this photo. On the plus side, it's raining outside. Well, it's a thunderstorm. And I'm getting over what happened Thursday. So, I guess that's good. I watched Beerfest on Comedy Central which is a hilarious movie. I don't feel like talking much. I stayed in bed until 4.30 or so.
