U 18 SEC. VIŠE UZBUĐENJA NEGO NA NOGOMETNOJ UTAKMICI: Cibona vs. Split - Game 3, clutch time..
NAJBOLJE AKCIJE 39. DANA NBA DOIGRAVANJA..
- sjeli smo na plavu tribinu, među sve glasnije navijače Cibone
- gomila psovki, nerijetke na račun domaćega kluba, trenera i igrača
- također na meti: Hrvoje Perić, Lukšina sl.bacanja (na to smo morali reagirati!!)
- taktički uspjeh Splita: svi članovi prve petorke uspjeli "preživjeli" bez osobnih do zadnje četvrtine
- zadnja minuta: NEOPISIVO I NEPONOVLJIVO
- One moment in time: Perićeva ruka Krasiću nakon pune minute totalne nevjerice..

GLOBAL WARMING CONSEQUENCES - TORNADO IN CROATIA..
DANAS TREĆA UTAKMICA CIBONE I SPLITA (17.45)
ROK STIPČEVIĆ OPENING A SHOOTING CLINIC IN TRNSKO..
Vinnie Johnson earns his nickname "microwave" by scoring every field goal in the 4th quarter as the pistons come from behind to beat the celtics in game 4 of the 1985 playoffs..
VINCE CARTER'S TOP 10 PLAYS 2006/07: DID YOU SEE V.C.???
Virtuosity is a virtue? Zašto će igračine poput Kobea (bez SHAQa), Marburya, Iversona, McGradya i Cartera vrlo vjerojatno ostati bez NBA naslova u svojim karijerama? Zato jer su preveliki virtuozi, i rijetko su stvarno spremni podijeliti minute/loptu s drugima. Pogledajte Finleyevu rolu u pobjedničkoj strategiji Popovichevih Spursa, i sve će Vam biti jasnije.
S HIT Warriorsima OUT, s Dirkom, Calderonom & Bargnanijem, Kobeom, Carterom & McGradyem OUT, te s vrlo vjerojatnom reprizom finala Spurs vs. Pistons iz 2003.
HE GOT GAME feat. KING JAMES..
Nije me išlo s nastavkom Ayuso Mixa (Split vs. Cibona, 13/5), nešto s spremanjem me zezalo satima!!
Odigrali smo 11 haklova iza škole: Cvetko, Jirsa SR, Molnar, Zdravko, Tomislav (ZD).

NBA LOTTERY AFTERMATH
West getting better with Oden, Durant
Just what the NBA needed - two more Western Conference teams about to get a lot better.
With the Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle SuperSonics securing the top two picks in the NBA draft -- thanks to a couple of lucky bounces of pingpong balls at Tuesday's draft lottery -- the balance of power swayed even heavier toward the West.
The Blazers were already making great strides under Nate McMillan with young players like Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge. Now they'll most likely throw Greg Oden into the mix, and suddenly Portland is a potential playoff team in the West.
Seattle, meanwhile, will happily "settle" for the world's greatest consolation prize -- Kevin Durant. The most significant aspect of the Sonics' luck is that the team -- which has been rumored to possibly move to a new city due to the lack of an arena deal in Seattle -- is more likely to stay in the city with a competitive team. It may not be an exaggeration to predict that Durant could be the man to keep the Sonics in Seattle, which is exactly where they belong.
Other thoughts regarding the lottery:
• How about the Atlanta Hawks moving into the top three, thereby holding onto their own selection (otherwise Phoenix would have had it) only to finish third and one slot out of the grand prizes? The Hawks will end up with a very good player, but they had their sights set on a superstar. Perhaps, after failing to draft Deron Williams or Chris Paul two years ago, Atlanta will take Mike Conley Jr. to fill its point guard needs.
NAJBOLJE AKCIJE 29. TJEDNA SEZONE 2006/07..
• Can the Boston Celtics get a break? Fifth was the worst-case scenario for Boston, and that's exactly where it landed. This was supposed to be redemption for the Tim Duncan lottery, when the Celtics had the best possible chance at the No. 1 pick and ended up at two. Instead, it was more heartbreak for Boston, which will now have to decide whether to take another young player with potential (but who may not be ready to help the club win) or to trade the pick for a veteran player who can help immediately. Either way, the Celtics' bad luck was also the league's. The NBA would love nothing more than to see Boston back among the top teams in the league, and the arrival of an Oden or Durant would have quickly helped that process along. Instead, it appears the Celtics are still heading nowhere.
• The other big market team the NBA needs to succeed is the New York Knicks. New York didn't own its first-round pick -- it belonged to the Chicago Bulls as part of the Eddy Curry trade -- but the Knicks won a small victory Tuesday by the mere fact that Chicago didn't move up into a top spot. Had the Bulls ended up one or two, Knicks fans would never have forgiven Isiah Thomas for making the deal. As it is, the Bulls will pick eighth and end up with a good player, while New York slides down to Chicago's 23rd slot. (The teams flip-flopped picks in the Curry deal).
As for the real basketball action that went on Tuesday night, the San Antonio Spurs put on another clinic in taking apart the Utah Jazz to grab a 2-0 lead in the West finals. The Spurs are starting to look methodically dominant, with all three of their stars - Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili - playing at a very high level.
Parker in particular was brilliant in Game 2, working the pick and roll to perfection and dishing out 14 assists. Gregg Popovich will be thrilled that his point guard distributed the ball so well. Parker is normally a score-first point guard, but when he's creating so many scoring opportunities for his teammates, San Antonio is tough to beat.

After playing pro ball in Puerto Rico in ’87 then graduating from Wesleyan University (CT) in ’88, he began working at Def Jam Records. He met DJ Stretch Armstrong there, and in ’90 the two of them started their Hip Hop radio show at WKCR 89.9 fm.
By ’98, the Source Magazine voted them the “Best Hip Hop Radio Show of All Time”.The show’s popularity allowed for Bobbito to expand. He hosted seminal open mic showcases (Lyricist Lounge ’93, All That ‘93-’98) and concerts, ran critically acclaimed indie label Fondle’Em Records from ’95-‘01, and ran the historic Bobbito’s Footwork record/clothing/sneaker store from ‘96-’00.Bobbito was on a mission to carry the Underground Hip Hop scene of New York through the ‘90s.

There were rewards. The Stretch Armstrong/Bobbito Show introduced the world to unsigned acts like Nas, Jay Z, Big Pun, Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, and many others that would go on to change the face of Hip Hop.And just as these talented artists couldn’t help get noticed, neither could Bobbito. The magazine world noticed his pure dedication quickly, and starting in ’90 he wrote freelance for the Source, then Rappages, Vibe, Fader and Slam. His first feature article in ‘91, “Confessions of A Sneaker Addict”, caught the eye of Nike. Over 30 television and radio spot appearances for Bobbito followed, including the award winning “Freestyle” spot in ’01.
Although Bobbito a.k.a. DJ Cucumberslice is a bonafide Hip Hop legend, any reader of his Vibe column would know that his musical passion goes way beyond just Rap. As a club DJ, crowds worldwide from Sweden to South Africa have celebrated his unique blend of Rare Funk, Latin, Afro-Beat, Soul, Classic Rock, House, and Ballads. He’s opened up concerts for Latin Music legend Eddie Palmieri (5 time Grammy Award Winner), Afro-Funk progenitor Tony Allen (formerly Fela Kuti's drummer), Jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove, Jazz-Funk legend Roy Ayers, and Soul singer D'Angelo.
BOBBITO GARCIA B-BALL HIGHLIGHT REEL '07: Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. "Make It Happen" a.k.a. "Boogie Bob" a.k.a. "Bag of Tricks" is a playground veteran, having played in New York tournaments for over 30 years. This compilation of highlights includes footage from the And 1 Mixtape Tour '06, Harlem's Kingdome Classic and Pelham Fritz 38 and Over League, the Puerto Rico Streetball Tour, and other games from the last 10 years. A former pro player in P.R., Bob is still actively running fulls in the parks.
What’s next? Who knows, but who would’ve ever expected a kid who started out in the music industry as a messenger to have accomplished so much, or a kid who got cut from his college basketball team to one day get paid to play basketball? Bobbito is a true renaissance man, a walking example of how it is possible to love what you do and pursue it without compromise.
GLAVNA VIJEST ZA WNBA PREDJELO: LEGENDARNA LISA LESLIE JE TRUDNA, TE OVE SEZONE NEĆE NASTUPATI ZA COOPEROVE L.A. SPARKSICE..
WNBA Preview Capsules
Team-by-team look at the WNBA, which was to open its 11th season this weekend (teams listed in alphabetical order):
2006: 5-29, 7th place.
COACH: Bo Overton, 1st season.
FIND MORE STORIES IN: PHOENIX | San Antonio | Charlotte | WNBA | Los Angeles Sparks | Canty
KEY ADDITIONS: F Monique Currie (dispersal draft, Charlotte); G Armintie Price (draft, No. 3 overall, Mississippi); F Carla Thomas (draft, No. 10, Vanderbilt); G Dominique Canty (free agent, Houston); F Kayte Christensen (free agent, Phoenix).
KEY LOSSES: G Chelsea Newton (trade, Sacramento).
STRENGTHS: Frontcourt. Candice Dupree will be looking to build on her strong rookie campaign, when the All-Star forward averaged a team-high 13.7 points. Currie, third overall pick in the 2006 draft, averaged 10.0 points, 2.6 assists and 3.9 rebounds for the Sting last season. Canty brings some veteran leadership to the young Sky, but is coming off an injury-shortened season with the Comets in which she averaged career highs of 10.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 51 percent field-goal shooting in 15 games. Canty likely will be paired in the backcourt with rookie Price.
WEAKNESSES: Chemistry, experience. Chicago set the WNBA record for losses in its inaugural season, finishing last in the league in scoring, field-goal shooting, 3-point percentage and free throws. The Sky were also last in field-goal shooting defense and third worst in scoring defense. A new coach also means time to adjust to a new system.
2006: 26-8, 1st; lost to Detroit in conference finals.
COACH: Mike Thibault, fifth season, 88-48.
KEY ADDITIONS: C Kristen Rasmussen (free agent, Phoenix); F Kamesha Hairston (draft, No. 12, Temple); G Cori Chambers (draft, No. 26, Georgia); G Kiera Hardy (draft, No. 39, Nebraska).
KEY LOSSES: F Taj McWilliams-Franklin (trade, Los Angeles); G Erin Phillips (torn ACL in right knee).
STRENGTHS: Chemistry and experience. The Sun return largely the same nucleus that has played together since 2004. Connecticut finished with league-best 26 wins for the second straight season before falling short of a third straight trip to the finals. Connecticut starts four All-Stars - Lindsay Whalen (10.0 points and 4.8 assists in three-year career), Katie Douglas (16.4 points, franchise-record 73 3-pointers and career-high 62 steals in 2006), Nykesha Sales (13.0 points and 2.7 assists in 22 games) and Margo Dydek.
WEAKNESSES: Depth. Asjha Jones likely will replace McWilliams-Franklin in the starting lineup and the Sun will need to replace Phillips as well. Rasmussen, Jamie Carey and Megan Mahoney will need to provide valuable minutes as reserves. Despite a star-laden starting lineup, Connecticut has been slowed by injuries down the stretch and postseason the last two years.
2006: 23-11., 2nd; beat Sacramento 3-2 to win championship.
COACH: Bill Laimbeer, sixth season, 90-68.
KEY ADDITIONS: G Shannon Johnson (free agent, San Antonio); C Katie Feenstra (trade, San Antonio); G Ivory Latta (draft, No. 11, North Carolina).
KEY LOSSES: G Kedra Holland-Corn (retirement); C Ruth Riley (trade, San Antonio).
STRENGTHS: Experience, depth. Coming off their second championship in four years, the Shock return the core of the team intact. Detroit led the league in rebounding (37.8 per game) and blocks. Cheryl Ford (13.8 points) was the league's only player to average double digits in rebounding (11.3). The veteran Riley was dealt to San Antonio for third-year center Feenstra, who should continue to improve on a veteran-laden team. Johnson, a starter her entire career, will come off the bench for the Shock.
WEAKNESSES: Consistency. Detroit has the balanced talent to contend for the title every year, but is hampered by a lack of consistent play. Still, the Shock became the first team to win multiple championships without doing so in consecutive seasons. The Shock were seventh in the league in scoring (74.3 points), ninth in field-goal shooting (41.4 percent) and 13th in 3-pointers made (136) and steals (6.3 per game). A little improvement in these categories could result in the team's third title.
THE LEGENDS: LISA LESLIE vs. RAZIJA MUJANOVIĆ..
2006: 21-13, 3rd; lost to Detroit 2-0 in conference semifinals.
COACH: Brian Winters, fourth season, 57-45.
KEY ADDITIONS: C Tammy Sutton-Brown (free agent, Charlotte); G Sheri Sam (dispersal draft, Charlotte); C Alison Bales (draft, No. 9, Duke).
KEY LOSSES: F La'Tangela Atkinson (trade, Sacramento); F Olympia Scott (trade, Phoenix); F Charlotte Smith (retirement);
STRENGTHS: Chemistry. The entire starting lineup is back, led by All-Star Tamika Catchings - the team's perennial leader in scoring (16.3 points), rebounds (7.5), assists (3.7), and steals (2.9). Veteran forward Tamika Whitmore is back for a second season with Indiana after averaging 15.5 points and 4.9 rebounds. Anna DeForge (10.2 points and 4.3 rebounds) and Tully Bevilaqua (6.6 points, 2.3 assists and 2.1 steals) anchor the backcourt. Center Ebony Hoffman will be looking to build on career highs of 6.4 points and 5.7 rebounds).
WEAKNESSES: Offensive balance. Despite the career season from Whitmore, the offense is too reliant on Catchings. Indiana bolstered its presence inside with the additions of veteran Sutton-Brown (11.2 points and 5.9 rebounds with Charlotte) and rookie Bales. Sam (10.6 points and 4.4 rebounds) should help reserves Tan White and K.B. Sharp in the backcourt.
NEW YORK LIBERTY
2006: 11-23, 6th.
COACH: Pat Coyle, 4th season, 40-46.
KEY ADDITIONS: C Jessica Davenport (draft-day trade, San Antonio; No. 2, Ohio State); F Tiffany Jackson (draft, No. 5, Texas); G Shay Doron (draft, No. 16, Maryland); F Janel McCarville (dispersal draft, Charlotte).
KEY LOSSES: G Becky Hammon (trade, San Antonio); C Kelly Schumacher (trade, Phoenix).
STRENGTHS: Perimeter shooting. Although the Liberty have no starters remaining from the 2005 season, some strong 3-point shooters still remain, including Erin Thorn (43 percent in 2006), Cathrine Kraayeveld (33 percent) and Shameka Christon (33 percent). Doron shot 34 percent on 3s as a senior at Maryland. New York, which finished second to last in the league in rebounding (30.0 per game), addressed its weakness inside by adding Davenport, Jackson and McCarville.
WEAKNESSES: Inexperience, chemistry. Other than Barbara Farris (eighth season), Thorn (fifth) and Christon (fourth), none of the other players has more than two years of experience in the league. Davenport will start in the middle, with Jackson, McCarville and Farris- who started 33 games in her first season with the Liberty - serving as reserves. New York also finished 13th in scoring (69.8) and field goals made (822), and could strle again while the young players gain experience.
2006: 18-16, 4th.
COACH: Richie Adubato, 3rd season with team, 134-112 overall
KEY ADDITIONS: F Bernice Mosby (draft, No. 6, Baylor); F Teana Miller (dispersal draft, Charlotte).
KEY LOSSES: F LaTasha Byears (free agent, Houston);
STRENGTHS: Offense. The Mystics led the league in field-goal shooting (46 percent) and were second in scoring (80.8 points) and 3-point percentage (35.8). Alana Beard (19.2 points) led four double-figure scorers for Washington, followed by DeLisha Milton-Jones (14.6 in 23 games), Chasity Melvin (11.9) and Nikki Teasley (10.7). Melvin was tops in rebounding (6.6) and Teasley led the league with 5.4 assists.
WEAKNESSES: Defense. Washington was 10th in the league in scoring defense (78.2 points) and rebounding (32.4) and tied for eighth in blocks (3.32) and opponents' field-goal shooting (43.2 percent). The Mystics also strled away from the Verizon Center, totaling just five road wins. Without any major personnel changes, the Mystics could falter if faced with a major injury, such as the one that forced Milton-Jones to miss 11 games. Washington was 4-7 in her absence.
NAJBOLJE AKCIJE 28. DANA NBA DOIGRAVANJA (21/05/07)..
2006: 18-16, 3rd; lost to Sacramento 2-0 in conference semifinals.
COACH: Karleen Thompson, 1st season with team, 11-3 overall.
KEY ADDITIONS: F LaTasha Byears (free agent, Washington); G Ashley Shields (draft, No. 8, Southwest Tennessee CC); G Dee Davis (draft, No. 14, Vanderbilt).
KEY LOSSES: Coach Van Chancellor; G Dawn Staley (retirement); G Dominique Canty (free agent, Chicago); G Tamecka Dixon (waived).
STRENGTHS: Leadership, frontcourt. This will be a transition season for the Comets following the departure of Van Chancellor, the franchise's only coach in the league's first 10 years. Houston still has 10-year veteran forwards Tina Thompson and Swoopes, both named to the league's All-Decade team last season. Thompson averaged 18.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in 21 games, and Swoopes had 15.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.1 steals. Also, center Michelle Snow is coming off a career year (13 points and 7.9 rebounds).
WEAKNESSES: Backcourt. The Comets will be starting over in the backcourt after losing Staley, Canty and Dixon. Shields will get an opportunity to start after impressing the Comets with her competitive nature and aggressive attitude while averaging 25.9 points at Southwest Tennessee CC last season. Houston's success will depend on how fast the rookies can adjust to the professional level.
LOS ANGELES SPARKS
2006: 25-9, 1st; lost to Sacramento 2-0 in conference finals.
COACH: Michael Cooper, 6th season, 116-31.
KEY ADDITIONS: F Taj McWilliams-Franklin (trade, Los Angeles); F LaToya Thomas (free agent, San Antonio); F Ayana Walker (dispersal draft, Charlotte).
KEY LOSSES: C Lisa Leslie (pregnancy).
STRENGTHS: Chemistry. Cooper led the Sparks to consecutive titles in 2001-02 and third straight finals appearance in '03. Despite missing Leslie, the Sparks return four starters. In 25 games last season, Chamique Holdsclaw averaged 15.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Mwadi Mabika, who has played with the Sparks since the league's inaugural season, averaged 8.5 points last year. Third-year point guard Temeka Johnson has averaged 5.1 assists in her first two seasons. McWilliams-Franklin averaged 12.8 points and 9.6 rebounds for the East-leading Sun last year.
WEAKNESSES: Leadership. Leslie's absence will be felt beyond her statistics (20.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.7 blocks). The three-time MVP was also an All-Decade team selection last year and a three-time Olympic gold medalist. McWilliams-Franklin, an eight-year veteran, is a solid addition to fill the void, but the Sparks will need Holdsclaw to step up and be a franchise leader on the court and in the locker room.
2006: 10-24, 7th.
COACH: Don Zierden, 1st season.
KEY ADDITIONS: G Lindsey Harding (post-draft trade, Phoenix; No. 1, Duke); G Noelle Quinn (draft, No. 4, UCLA); G Eshaya Murphy (draft, No. 15, Southern California).
KEY LOSSES: G-F Tynesha Lewis (retirement); F Adrian Williams (trade, Sacramento ); C Vanessa Hayden (pregnancy).
STRENGTHS: Backcourt. After getting Tangela Smith in the Charlotte Sting dispersal draft, she was dealt for Harding - the No. 1 overall selection. Harding and reigning Rookie of the Year Seimone Augustus (21.9 points per game) will likely anchor Minnesota 's backcourt for years to come. The Lynx also drafted Noelle Quinn with their selection at No. 4 to serve as Augustus' backup. Center Nicole Ohlde has averaged 10.8 points and 5.7 assists in three seasons, and Amber Jacobs had a career-high 8.2 points.
WEAKNESSES: Chemistry. The entire starting lineup from a year ago is back, but some players could be playing in reserve roles. There could be a period of adjustment due to a new coach with a new system and four rookies joining the team. Zierden has experience as an NBA assistant, but will be making his WNBA debut.
2006: 18-16, 5th.
COACH: Paul Westhead, 2nd season, 18-16.
KEY ADDITIONS: G Tangela Smith (trade, Minnesota); C Kelly Schumacher (trade, New York); C Olympia Scott (free agent, Indiana); G Kelly Mazzante (dispersal draft, Charlotte).
KEY LOSSES: F Kamila Vodichkova (pregnancy); C Kristen Rasmussen (free agent, Connecticut); F Kayte Christensen (free agent, Chicago); F Sandora Irvin (trade, San Antonio).
STRENGTH: Offense. After getting off to a slow start in Westhead's first season, the Mercury won seven straight to close the season. In Westhead's frenetic pace, Phoenix set a WNBA record by averaging 87.1 points per game. Diana Taurasi led the league with a career-high 25.3 points and added 4.1 assists. Cappie Pondexter had a sensational rookie season, averaging 19.5 points. Kelly Miller and Penny Taylor averaged 13.9 points and 5.6 rebounds after missing the first 14 games. Smith (13.1 points and 5.1 rebounds for Charlotte ) will help bolster the offense.
WEAKNESS: Defense. On the flip side of Westhead's offense-first system, Phoenix was last in the league in scoring defense (84.7 points), sixth in rebounding (33.7), and seventh in steals (8.1) Losing Vodichkova (9.7 points and 6.7 rebounds) and Rasmussen won't help, though Schumacher and Scott could be solid contributors.
LARRY AYUSO - THE SHOOOTER: Amazing Puertorican shooting guard playing for BC Split (Croatia) demonstrates his excelent shooting stroke vs. BC Zagreb (05/05/2007)..
2006: 21-13, 2nd; lost to Detroit 3-2 in WNBA finals.
COACH: Jenny Boucek, 1st season.
KEY ADDITIONS: G Chelsea Newton (trade, Chicago); F La'Tangela Atkinson (trade, Indiana); G LaToya Bond (dispersal draft, Charlotte); F Adrian Williams (trade, Minnesota).
KEY LOSSES: F Erin Buescher (free agent, San Antonio); Hamchetou Maiga-Ba (free agent, Houston).
STRENGTHS: Experience, defense. The Monarchs return all five starters from the team that fell short of its second straight championship. Six-time All-Star Yolanda Griffith (12.0 points and 6.4 rebounds) is a force on both ends of the court, and is complemented by Nicole Powell (9.6 points and 3.9 rebounds) and Rebekkah Brunson (6.8 points and 5.6 rebounds). Ticha Penicheiro (3.4 asissts and 1.7 steals) and Kara Lawson (8.1 points) will lead the backcourt again. Newton, Scholanda Robinson, DeMya Walker and Kristin Haynie will be key reserves.
WEAKNESSES: Offense. Griffith was the only player to average double figures in scoring, and finished with career lows in points, rebounds, blocks and field-goal shooting. Sacramento will also need to find a consistent replacement for Buescher, the league's most improved player in 2006. Boucek brings the experience of being a former player and assistant coach - including Seattle's championship team in 2004 - in the league.
SAN ANTONIO SILVER STARS
2006: 13-21; 6th.
COACH: Dan Hughes, 3rd season with team, 96-122 overall.
KEY ADDITIONS: G Becky Hammon (trade, New York); C Ruth Riley (trade, Detroit); G Helen Darling (dispersal draft, Charlotte); F Erin Buescher (free agent, Sacramento); C Sandora Irvin (trade, Phoenix); F Camille Little (draft, No. 17, North Carolina).
KEY LOSSES: G Shannon Johnson (free agent, Detroit); C Katie Feenstra (trade, Detroit); F LaToya Thomas (free agent, Los Angeles); F Agnieszka Bibrzycka (remained in Poland); F Shyra Ely (free agent, Seattle).
STRENGTHS: Backcourt, veteran leadership. After finishing with the franchise's best record since moving from Utah in 2003, the Silver Stars made two big trades and several key signings. Vickie Johnson, in her second season in San Antonio, and second-year player Sophia Young are the only returning starters. Hammon (14.7 points) played with Johnson for seven seasons in New York. Darling and Riley - who won two titles in Detroit - add to the influx of veteran leadership. Also, two-time All-Star Marie Ferdinand-Harris is back after missing last season due to a pregnancy.
WEAKNESS: Chemistry. Despite the presence of veterans, the Silver Stars could be in for an adjustment period in the early part of the season as they learn the new offense run through Hammon. Erin Buescher and Irvin will be key reserves. Third-year forward Kendra Wecker was injured in the preseason and will miss at least the opener.
2006: 18-16, 4th; lost to Los Angeles 3-2 in conference semifinals.
COACH: Anne Donovan, 5th season with team, 121-111 overall.
KEY ADDITIONS: G Katie Gearlds (draft, No. 7, Purdue); C Tye'sha Fluker (dispersal draft, Charlotte); F Shyra Ely (free agent, San Antonio).
KEY LOSSES: F Barbara Turner (released).
STRENGTHS: Experience. All five starters are back, led by catalysts Lauren Jackson (19.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks) and Sue Bird (11.4 points and 4.8 assists). Seattle was fourth in scoring (77.8), second in field-goal shooting (45.2 percent) and free throws (78.9 percent), fifth in rebounding (33.8) and blocks (3.7). Betty Lennox (13.7 points and 4.0 rebounds) and Janell Burse (11.1 points and 6.6 rebounds) also had strong seasons.
WEAKNESSES: Depth. Iziane Castro Marques (7.2 points) had a strong season and is poised for a bigger role in the offense. Gearlds was a two-time all-Big Ten Conference first-team selection and averaged 18.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for the Boilermakers. She also shot 37 percent on 3-pointers and finished fourth on Purdue's all-time scoring list with 1,974 points. Seattle could be bolstered by the return of veteran Wendy Palmer, who missed most of last season due to injury.

THE ARTISTRY OF MICHAEL JORDAN BY HOOPSENCYCLOPEDIA (PART 1): potvrđujem da barem 1/4 izloženog materijala nije nikada viđeno..
The Artistry of Michael Jordan
The easiest compilation video to make is one of Michael Jordan. All you need to do is take 5 games from his career and you'll have enough material for an entire news segment.
The most difficult compilation video to make is one of Michael Jordan. If you take any 5 games from his career, you'll have so much material you won't know what to cut out.
Therein lied the challenge of this edit for me. With the tons of MJ mixes out there, I wanted to do something more complete. I also wanted to focus on the aesthetics of his abilities. That led me to a path of picking not only classic clips, but rare ones and personal favorites. For those who didn't grow up in the 80s before MJ became a champion, they can never know the full experience of what watching Jordan was like.
ONE MOMENT IN JORDAN TIME: 1984 OLYMPIC FINALS - PART 1: Jordan feat. Alford, Ewing, Fleming, Kleine, Koncak, Mullin, Perkins, Robertson, Tisdale, Turner, Wood..
PART2 PART3 PART4 PART5
PART6 PART7 PART8 PART9
Before all the awards, the statistics, the monster games, the titles and the global appeal, MJ was about his incredible moves. In the playground, people stuck their tongues out and tried to imitate his drives to the basket. Later on, people imitated his fadeaway. But his athletic moves were singular and his alone - awesome in aesthetics, control, spontaneity, improvisation, instinct and athleticism.
MJ revolutionized the game with his individual exploits and we see bits and pieces of this in everyone today. From Kobe studying his shooting mechanics to create shots to Wade attacking the basket to Lebron transferring his power to his teammates to Iverson in his isolations to Carter in his dunking, MJ continues to be, as Drexler said, "The Pro's Pro".
But obviously, there will always be only one MJ. This video captures the essence of MJ stripped of everything but his pure, remarkable talents as completely as possible in 10 minutes. A truly complete edit would take a video several days long - even weeks - but that would be impossible anyway.
MJ vs. PHILADELPHIA'S DR.J & SIR CHARLES 1985. - 31 POINTS...
By blurring the line between sport and art, MJ became the greatest athletic artist we will ever know. "Black Cat" was his nickname to his friends for his cat-like reflexes and grace and panther-like power and killer instinct. This is my ultimate tribute, with excellence, in return for his excellence to the game of basketball.

SAM SMITH MRZI BLOGERE
What blogs do you read for sports, basketball or the bulls? How much do you trust their analysis/inside information? Personally I find them great aggregations of information and alternative perspectives, but most of the basketball sites, in particular, are full of unsupported trade speculation. I've started to wonder about how sports sections from newspapers will interact with sports blogs.
This came about because I've been noticing how sports sites are increasingly referenced in newspaper articles, especially as points for controversy (deadspin vs. Stephen A. Smith for example). In spite of this, they always seemed to be mentioned in a tongue-in-cheek way, such as when they are referenced as hosting pictures of a partying Kyle Orton. - Chris Balmes, Champaign
"I like this question because I don't read any blogs. I find it interesting the way the national political campaigns (my first love and job) have hired people to interact with the blogosphere. You may say I'm old, out of touch and cranky, and I probably would have to agree. I'm also probably resentful on some level as I see this unsubstantiated, personal opinion passing for journalism and weep for America and the world. People do seem to read this stuff and equate it with what we do at The Tribune or other media and don't make much distinction.
NAJBOLJE AKCIJE 24. DANA DOIGRAVANJA (16/05/07)..
How is it I can work for decades developing contacts around the NBA and traveling regularly around the NBA and talking with the decision makers and some guy in his basement in his underwear is writing something that has credibility? As close as I can figure, these bloggers are the electronic version of the neighborhood tavern. You used to go in and hear people wailing about sports or politics and offering opinions on all the major issues.
We did our man in the street interviews when such issues came up. Now, these people we used to ask for opinion started these blogs and are supposed to be experts. How can that be? I never see any of them, I never hear the coaches and general managers and players I talk to saying they talked to them. So where do they get their information?
People often doubt the traditional media, but we are out asking questions, developing sources of information and interacting with the participants. What are these bloggers doing? I'm fortunate on some level to be getting close to retirement because if these blogs are credible sources of information, there's no point in spending all the time on the road that I do.
And did you see that kid eating his ice cream and putting his hands on everything and can't someone shut that baby up and whose idea is it to give these kids a snow day and when I was their age I used to walk 15 miles to school in the snow. And without shoes!"

A ono prebolesno zakucavanje i to preko Kirilenka!

Nowitzki (TO BE) chosen NBA MVP
Dirk Nowitzki has been chosen as the NBA's MVP for leading the Dallas Mavericks to one of the best regular seasons in league history, a team official told The Associated Press on Friday.
The formal announcement will come Tuesday at a news conference, said the team official, who requested anonymity because the announcement is pending.
Nowitzki and the Mavericks went from a league-best 67 wins to a stunning first-round elimination by eighth-seeded Golden State, with the big German quite un-MVP-like for most of the series.
Voting was completed before the playoffs.
The story was first reported late Thursday by ESPN.com.
Nowitzki becomes the first MVP in 25 years not to win a single playoff series; it last happened to Houston's Moses Malone in 1981-82. That failure is likely to be remembered more than the fact he's the first European honoree, and the first not to have attended a U.S. high school or college.
Nowitzki's victory also ends the two-year reign of his good friend and former teammate Steve Nash of Phoenix. After blossoming into star players together in Dallas, one of them has been the MVP all three seasons since they've been separated.
Nowitzki earned it this time by being the best player on the best team, leading the Mavericks in scoring (24.6 points per game) and rebounding (8.9 per game).
He was an All-Star for the sixth straight year and started the game for the first time. That was a first for a Dallas player -- as is this honor. On Thursday, he was chosen to the all-NBA first-team for a third straight year.
While Nowitzki's ninth season wasn't his highest-scoring, it was his most accurate. He set career-highs in shooting percentage on field goals (50.2), 3-pointers (41.6) and free throws (90.4); no other player in the league topped 50, 40 and 90 percent.
Nowitzki and the Mavericks came into this season driven by having blown a 2-0 lead in the NBA finals last summer. After losing their first four games, they dropped only 11 more. They won the most games in team history and tied for sixth-most in league history. They also became the first club with three winning streaks of at least 12 games, going on spurts of 12, 13 and 17 in a row.
ALL-WARRIORS BEST 5 PLAYS OF 20. DANA DOIGRAVANJA (12/05/07)..
But reputations are made in the playoffs, and that's where Nowitzki has looked so ordinary in his last two series -- the finals against Miami and the one that ended last week.
Pestered by smaller defenders who were armed with the insight of coach Don Nelson, Nowitzki's coach his first seven seasons, the Warriors limited him to 19.7 points per game on 38 percent shooting. His 3-point accuracy plummeted to 21 percent. In the series finale, Nowitzki scored just eight points on 2-of-13 shooting after having dramatically helped the Mavs avoid elimination in the closing minutes of the previous game.
The combination of last year's collapse against Miami and the Golden State flop have sparked wide debate about whether Nowitzki is capable of leading a team to a title. However, this award is a chance to reflect on the amazing ride that's gotten him to this point.
Growing up in Wurzburg, Germany, his father a successful handball player and his mother a former member of the national basketball team, Nowitzki was discovered at age 16 by Holger Geschwindner, captain of West Germany's 1972 Olympic team.
When Nowitzki said he wanted to get serious about learning the game, Geschwindner devised an unusual training regimen aimed at producing an usual basketball specimen: A 7-footer who shoots 3-pointers.
The Mavericks were wowed by Nowitzki's skills when he worked out at their gym before going to a youth tournament in San Antonio at the 1998 Final Four. They acquired him in a draft-day deal with Milwaukee, which had taken him ninth overall on orders from Dallas.
Playing for Nelson, a wizard of the mismatch, Nowitzki became a nearly 22-point per game scorer by his third season. He's remained at or above that level ever since.
NOT JUST SHOOTING WIZARD: DIRK NOWITZKI TOP10 2006/07..
He's already the leading rebounding in club history and is on pace to become the leading scorer next season. This season, he became a more reliable passer, averaging a career-best 3.4 assists per game. He even flirted several times with his first career triple-double. He's also become a solid defender, shaking the mocking name of "irk," as in there being no "D" in him.
Nowitzki turns 29 next month, so he should have plenty more chances to fix his current playoff reputation.

So much for Gordan Giricek's hot three-point shooting. The guard entered Game 1 against the Warriors having made eight of his last nine long-range shots, dating to Game 2 against the Rockets.
But he promptly hit just 1 of 5 three-point attempts, as well as 1 of 5 regulation shots - dropping him to 7-for-26 from inside the arc over the past six games.

Robert "Tractor" Traylor derailed
A big woman once lived in this small house on the city's tough west side. Jessie Mae Carter – all 6-foot-3, 270 pounds of her – was best known for her oversized traits: her frame, her laugh and her talent in the kitchen that produced scents that could tempt the entire neighborhood.
"You'd walk by that house and smell it and even if you weren't hungry, you'd get hungry," said Wanda Nelson, who lived around the corner. "Oooooh, could that woman cook."
In that house, out of that kitchen, Jessie Mae raised children and grandchildren – including one who became famous.
And on every possible occasion she'd entertain her extended family too. The entire clan would pack the place for her chicken and ribs, her cakes and pies, her hugs and smiles; generations of Jessie Mae's brood – including one who became infamous.
It was there that two young cousins first talked about how they were both going to make it big, make a name for themselves, make it out of Detroit and into one of those rich suburbs to the north where the auto execs live.
One, a grandson, everyone could see coming. He was all Jessie Mae, so big (growing to 6-foot-8, 300 pounds) and so gregarious that even as Robert Traylor went on to become a star at the University of Michigan and the sixth pick in the 1998 NBA Draft he was still best known for his care-free attitude, girth and colorful nickname – "Tractor."
His cousin, Quasand Lewis, wasn't blessed with those physical gifts. At 6-foot, 205 pounds and six years older than Traylor, he was going to have to get out of Detroit another way, the hard way. But even early on at those family gatherings, relatives say, everyone saw the toughness, street smarts and determination that made big things, in a different way, possible for him, too.
So as Traylor went on to earn more than $11 million during a seven-year NBA career, moving, indeed, to the promised land of wealthy West Bloomfield, Lewis, at least monetarily, was doing him one better. He was living up to his end of those childhood dreams, arriving too amidst the cul de sacs and four-car garages of the same suburb. They were two cousins straight out of Detroit.
When Lewis was finally busted by federal authorities in 2004, he had sold an estimated $178 million in marijuana and cocaine in Metro Detroit and had associates with suspected links to nearly a dozen murders and four fire-bombed houses, according to federal prosecutors. They declared Lewis as the kingpin of a massive and ruthless organized crime ring and deemed him Michigan's biggest pot dealer, perhaps ever.
"For more than a decade (Lewis) subjected our citizens to violence, our neighborhoods to devastation," U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy said.
Lewis had even found a way to reach back into Jessie Mae's house, back to those family cookouts, even after the big woman had died, her little house was long sold and the grandson she raised herself, Robert Traylor, should have known better.
"Quasand Lewis needed to launder drug money," Murphy said. "Robert Traylor helped him launder (nearly $4 million) of it."
Which is how Lewis wound up in federal prison for the next 18 years and Traylor, just two years removed from the NBA playoffs, two years from being LeBron James' teammate, is staring down a cell himself.
NAJBOLJE AKCIJE 12. DANA DOIGRAVANJA (03/05/07): Nash-2-Marion working to perfection!!
On March 18, 2004, the crime organization that Lewis, now 37, had built collapsed when a woman he didn't know, speaking a language he didn't understand, suffered a nervous breakdown over something she didn’t see.
Through court records, indictments, plea agreements, police reports, interviews and media accounts, Yahoo! Sports learned the story of the break up of a major crime ring that eventually dimmed even the bright lights of the NBA.
On that fateful day, two of Lewis' couriers had rented room 102 of the StudioPLUS Hotel in suburban Novi where they had brought a number of huge, overstuffed bags filled with $3.4 million in cash, some marijuana, money counting machines and a lease to a house – where police later found computer files, written documents and cell phones. The couriers routinely moved money and drugs to and from Arizona, where they bought the marijuana, as well as operations in Ohio and Oklahoma.
The woman was a girlfriend of one of the couriers. In her unstable mind, the big bags of mostly cash looked like they contained a dead body. At first sight she flipped, ran down to the front desk and began screaming "he's dead" in Spanish. The startled hotel worker called the police.
There was no body, just an incredible amount of evidence that federal authorities painstakingly used to prosecute nearly the entire group and seize some $18.4 million in cash and property. There have been over 30 convictions of dealers, couriers, smlers and hit men.
And money launderers, of course. One of the problems with dealing $178 million in drugs is finding a way to make all the bad money look good so the Internal Revenue Service won't question the big house, the new car or the opulent lifestyle.
"Drug dealing is a cash business," said Stephen Moore public information officer for IRS Criminal Investigations department. "You want to make the illegal cash look like legitimate money, you need to somehow get that money into the system. One way of doing that is buying assets. But you can't buy it in your name, so you put it in other people's names."
Lewis used a number of people to launder money, according to court records, and eventually he approached his rich hoops-playing cousin, with an easy proposition. Lewis would buy two apartment complexes in Detroit – one just off downtown, another in the Northwest part of the city for about $3.8 million – but would put the property in Traylor's name.
"Robert Traylor, as a professional basketball player, it wouldn't be unusual for a person of that nature to purchase such assets," Moore said.
What Traylor, now 30, got out of the deal is not known. He declined an interview request through his attorney. Lewis, meanwhile, is in federal prison in Florida and unavailable.
Traylor's attorney, Steven Fishman, says that although his client has mismanaged or given away much of his NBA money, he was not paid to be part of the transaction and contends it was mostly naivete that got him in trouble.
"Rob's a basketball player not a businessman," Fishman said. "Unfortunately he got some bad advice and he took it. Rob will tell you, 'it was my kin, he asked me to do it, I didn't think about it and now I'm paying for it. '"
Traylor's other mistake, the one he pled guilty to on a plea bargain, was his decision to declare a $205,668 loss on the two apartment buildings on his 2004 income tax return. That lowered his 2004 income from the $630,617 he earned mostly from the New Orleans Hornets to $424,949. According to Ivan Glasser, a Farmington Hills, Mich. accountant, it saved Traylor an estimated $80,000 in federal and state taxes.
For that he is waiting to be sentenced to between 8 and 14 months in federal prison.
"What I can't believe is (Traylor) didn't run it by me, I could have just said, 'hey, no way,'" said Fishman, who is trying to have the prison time eliminated since Traylor is cooperating with authorities. "Rob's a good kid. He didn't even think about it. He was just doing a favor. He just thought he did his cousin a favor. They were always close.
"He's a man though. He's taking it and not blaming anyone else."
Tractor Traylor isn’t considered dangerous. Even though he awaits sentencing this summer, federal prosecutors and U.S. District Court Judge Avern Cohn viewed him such an unlikely flight risk that in March they allowed him to leave the country to play pro basketball in Spain. Traylor’s team, Gestiberica Vigo, had its season end with a 12-22 record last week.
THE AVERY FAMILY MIX: neću previše o noćašnjoj BIG TIME David vs. Goliat šansi Warriorsa, just enjoying the moment, svi znate da su mi prirasli srcu. "Now they (Warriors) have a lot of pressure," AJohnson said, playing the mind games Nellie has worked so far this series. "They have 10,000 pounds on them up in Oakland. They have a lot of pressure to play well and win that game."
Back in his old neighborhood, few can believe Jessie Mae's grandson, of all people, might be headed to prison. Robert Traylor isn't a criminal, they say. If anything, he is that same laid-back, blase personality who infuriated NBA coaches as he failed to shed pounds and realize his immense potential during his unspectacular, journeyman career with Milwaukee, Cleveland, Charlotte and New Orleans.
Traylor, his wife and two children might live in West Bloomfield, but he is a constant back in his old neighborhood, where his mom continues to live. At least twice a year, he throws a big block party, complete with inflatable trampolines, kids games, barbeque and in the summer, a fireworks display. Traylor sometimes even mans the grill himself, just like grandma.
"He's just real nice," said Wanda Nelson as she swept the street outside her home. "He comes back and does a lot for the community. I knew him when he was young. He's always been smiling."
While this isn't one of Detroit's worst neighborhoods – the street is tree-lined with small single family homes – it's by no means its best, either. A number of buildings are in serious disrepair or abandoned and just four doors from Jessie Mae's old home you can buy a comparable house for just $19,900. It's been on the market since December; no takers.

Report: Study sests racial bias in calls by NBA referees
An academic study of NBA officiating found that white referees called fouls at a greater rate against black players than against white players, The New York Times reported in Wednesday's editions.
The study by a University of Pennsylvania assistant professor and Cornell graduate student also found that black officials called fouls more frequently against white players than black, but noted that that tendency was not as pronounced.
Justin Wolfers, an assistant professor of business and public policy at Penn's Wharton School, and Joseph Price, a Cornell graduate student in economics, said the difference in calls "is large enough that the probability of a team winning is noticeably affected by the racial composition of the refereeing crew."
The study, conducted over a 13-season span through 2004, found that the racial makeup of a three-man officiating crew affected calls by up to 4 1/2 percent.
The NBA strongly criticized the study, which was based on information from publicly available box scores, which show only the referees' names and contain no information about which official made a call.
"The study that is cited in the New York Times article is wrong," president of league and basketball operations Joel Litvin told The Associated Press on Tuesday night. "The fact is there is no evidence of racial bias in foul calls made by NBA officials and that is based on a study conducted by our experts who looked at data that was far more robust and current than the data relied upon by Professor Wolfers.
"The short of it is Wolfers and Price only looked at calls made by three-man crews. Our experts were able to analyze calls made by individual referees."
NAJBOLJE AKCIJE 11. DANA DOIGRAVANJA 2006/07 (02/05/07)..
Litvin said the NBA's study, using data from November 2004 to January 2007, included some 148,000 calls and included which official made each call. The Times said the NBA denied a request by Wolfers and Price to obtain that information, citing its confidentiality agreement with the officials.
The study also found differences in everything from a decrease in scoring to a rise in turnovers depending on the officials' race.
"Player-performance appears to deteriorate at every margin when officiated by a larger fraction of opposite-race referees," Wolfers and Price wrote.

Spurs' Duncan and Bowen highlight All-Defensive team
Tim Duncan made his 10th straight NBA All-Defensive first team Monday, and San Antonio teammate Bruce Bowen was the top vote-getter in being selected for the seventh time.
Completing the team were: Denver Nets center Marcus Camby and guards Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and Raja Bell of the Phoenix Suns.
Bowen, a forward, received 42 votes, six more than Duncan. Camby, the Defensive Player of the Year, was chosen for the first time.
"Honestly, besides winning a championship, that was the only other goal I had," said Camby, who had made the All-Defensive second team the last two seasons.
NAJBOLJE AKCIJE 10. DANA DOIGRAVANJA (01/05/07)..
Bryant earned his seventh selection and Bell his first.
Duncan is tied with former Chicago Bull Scottie Pippen for the second most All-Defensive team selections. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is first with 11.
Bowen and Duncan helped the Spurs hold opponents to 90.1 points (first in the NBA) and .433 shooting from the field (third). San Antonio has finished in the top five in both categories in each of Duncan's 10 seasons.
Camby led the NBA in blocks per game (3.30) and was tied for fourth in rebounds (11.7). Bryant ranked 17th in steals (1.44). Bell often matches up against the opposition's best offensive player.
The second team was: Chicago's Ben Wallace and Kirk Hinrich, New Jersey's Jason Kidd, Detroit's Tayshaun Prince and Minnesota's Kevin Garnett.
