Iman's Secrets To Staying Forever Young

Supermodel. Blogger. Muse. Cosmetics powerhouse. Designer. Wife. Mom. The list of accomplishments under Iman's always chic belt is awe-inspiring. One of the most memorable bold-faced names defining an era of iconic beauty, the Somali style star's packed-to-the-brim schedule leaves us breathless, to say the least.

Needless to say, we're all ears when it comes to this model-turned-mogul, and when given the chance to snoop around her Midtown Manhattan offices and have a little sit-down, we didn't think twice. From all things beauty and skin care to Hedi's first collection at Saint Laurent (he's a big Bowie fan, so she introduced them...no big deal), this forever-stunning icon was happy to share...she even threw in a little supermodel dish for good measure.

Big Bird: what has Mitt Romney got against PBS?

Sad news, Sesame Street fans. That meanie Mitt Romney wants to cut funding for PBS, the public television network that has broadcast Big Bird and her fellow Muppets since 1970. "I like PBS, I like Big Bird," he claimed during Wednesday's presidential debate. "But I'm not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for."

In the US, the threat prompted much pain and suffering. "Yo Mitt Romney," said someone purporting to be Big Bird on Twitter. "Sesame Street is brought to you today by the letters F & U!" Now another Big Bird impersonator wants to run for president in protest. They've even mocked up a version of the Obama Hope poster that replaces Barack's face with Big Bird's.

Over in Blighty, the news prompted a more confused reaction. What the dickens is PBS? Is it the same as the BBC? Well, yes and no. PBS stands for Public Broadcasting Service, and it's a bit like the BBC, in that it provides ad-free, free-to-air television to 170 million Americans, some of whom couldn't otherwise afford to watch the box. It has a focus on educational programmes such as American Experience, which explores US history; kids' shows such as Sesame Street; and investigative documentaries such as Frontline. PBS Newshour is its flagship news programme – and is seen as a more serious affair than many of its rivals – while Charlie Rose is the network's equivalent of David Frost.

Netflix is loved again. Stock surges 11%

netflixInvestors have fallen in love with Netflix (NFLX) again. The online streaming (don't call us a DVD by mail rental service!) giant's shares surged nearly 11% Tuesday after Citigroup analyst Mark Mahaney issued a positive report on the company. Mahaney cited a survey his firm did that showed improving customer satisfaction with Netflix's service.

Is it really possible that Netflix has recovered from the PR nightmare surrounding last year's huge price hike and its failed attempt to rebrand the DVD unit as Qwikster? It appears that way.

This bit of good news for Netflix comes just two days after shares popped after hedge fund manager Whitney Tilson reiterated that he likes the stock.

He even went so far to say that Netflix, which some investors feel is spending too much on content deals and international expansion, could rebound much like Amazon (AMZN) has done in the past few years. Amazon was widely criticized for investing heavily on new products and services but the strategy has yielded big rewards for investors. Shares now trade near an all-time high.

Some users on StockTwits are enthusiastic about the recent signs of life.

Super fund joins campaign to remove Murdoch

A large Australian super fund has joined other News Corp shareholders in their campaign to remove Rupert Murdoch as chairman ahead of this year's annual general meeting.

A resolution to that effect has already been filed in the US and overnight Hermes, a British fund controlling $39 billion in assets, backed the call to break the Murdoch family's stranglehold on the business.

Now Australia's First Super, which manages around $1.7 billion of member funds, has announced it will also be voting against the re-election of Mr Murdoch and four other directors, including James and Lachlan Murdoch.

First Super says other Australian industry super funds are likely to do the same, following a recommendation by the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors.

The fund's chief executive Graeme Russell says it will also be voting against News Corp's remuneration report, because its executives are paid "outrageous amounts of money."

"The aggregate cash pay of their top six executives was $US65.5m, more than three times the amount received by the top nine executives of BHP Billiton, and they are by no means underpaid," he noted in a statement.

"We don't believe that any senior executive is worth four or five hundred times the wages paid to the employees who do the work, produce the product and generate the revenue and profits."

Annual revolt

This is the second year the Murdochs will face a shareholder revolt at the News Corp AGM to be held on October 16.

Last year it ended with the majority of independent shareholders voting against the re-election of James and Lachlan Murdoch.
