very ironic. and very funny indeed!! i remember a verse from a song by johnny cash that says: "pain's the only thing that's real", and i kind of understand what it means. we all have all kinds of illusions about ourselves and our lives that we support willingly or unwillingly, but you know it's no illusion when the pain comes! that's the one thing that we don't fantasize about. in fact, if anything, a lot of the things we do, we do to avoid the pain, or to reduce it! therefore if you're hurting, you're alive.
now i don't want to steal the show, but i do feel the need to say one other thing, just to complete the circle. by renunciation one is giving away a piece of himself, having less so that in perspective he can acquire more. in some sense it may even be called investment.
