I spent most of my morning on the washer and dryer selling project. It seems humans wish to be clean before they want to be nourished (refrigerator) or comforted (couches, rugs), or to read (end tables and lamps). I got umpteen offers for the washer and dryer over the last few days, one from a couple who almost sounded panicky. I've been there! They said they Just Had a Baby and their washer and dryer quit working and they needed new ASAP in order to wash all of the baby clothes. I could totally relate though happily only down memory lane.
This morning the couple with 1) the highest offer; and 2) the fastest response (everything always boils down to performance, doesn't it?) took the appliances away to McCall, ID. Almost eerily, they were like facsimiles of my son and daughter-in-law (who are expecting early 2012). Young, (I'd say cherubic but it wouldn't fit and it isn't in vogue right now anyhow; so rosie-cheeked will do), healthy, smiling, and no washer would be too big for them to move together. Like ain't no mountain high enough kind of thing. That's how you actually feel back then though you don't know it until you get to here. I would have predicted this would have been a No Go but before I knew it these slim little people had both appliances in their little truck and were handing me the cash which I promptly placed in an envelope marked Moving Expenses.
I have always had an uncanny ability (ask my FS) to sense pregnancy. I could probably make millions, have women lined up at my door, detecting pregnancy without the fuss and muss of store bought or clinic pregnancy tests. I would tell you that this young man's wife is pregnant and they are looking forward eagerly, earnestly (blindly, foolishly!) to washing baby gown after baby blanket after baby bedding after baby bib. Here's to the young and reproducing! I applaud their courage. And hope they end up with RUs (Replacement Units) as spectacular as the one's we so fortunately ended up with.
This picture was taken while I was trying to ignore them and stay out of their hair and stop giving them instructions (as valuable as I knew these instructions to be).
