Kinki Kreations: A Parent's Guide to Natural Black Hair Care for Kids
For parents, the ultimate styling manual for African American children with wavy, curly, and kinky hair, from an award-winning stylist to the stars who lives by the motto “Healthy care for natural hair!”
Even with her renowned styling talents, Jena Renee Williams found herself put to the test when a sad little girl and her mother came into her salon one day. The girl’s hair was limp, nearly lifeless, and she had nasty burns on her scalp. After calling on her mental and spiritual reserves, Williams patiently worked on the girl’s hair, ultimately giving her Senegalese twists. Both mother and daughter were delighted, and their happiness over the new style inspired Williams to write a guide that would show parents how black children can celebrate their natural hair, helping them to avoid the potential damage caused by relaxers and develop self-love at an early age.
Kinki Kreations offers step-by-step, easy-to-follow instructions for styles that can be created in less than fifteen minutes. This innovative handbook reveals expert techniques for crowning little heads with afros, braids, cornrows, twists, and a variety of other all-natural styles. Tips for proper shampooing, caring for newborns’ hair, and finding the right salon are included too. Best of all, Kinki Kreations showcases Williams’s work in dozens of adorable, helpful photographs.
A styling book with both sheen and substance, Kinki Kreations gives the world a sparkling new key to self-esteem and authentic beauty.

Took her hair out. Boy...was it hard. It took me a while to figure out how to pull it out of that knot on top of her head. Didn't think for one second that she had 5 pins in her head holding that bun down. So if you have this doll and you wanna take that beehive doo down, here's a heads up! Start pulling it back from the front. Just part her hair first.
Or, you can leave it the way it is because you like it that way. : )

The Bureau: The Secret History of the FBI
No institution is as critically important to America's security. No American institution is as controversial. And, after the White House, Congress, and the Supreme Court, no institution is as powerful. Yet until now, no book has presented the full story of the FBI from its beginnings in 1908 to the present...
The Secret History of the FBI
Based on exclusive interviews-including the first interview with Robert Mueller since his nomination as director-The Bureau reveals why the FBI was unprepared for the attacks of September 11 and how the FBI is combating terrorism today. The book answers such questions as: Why did the FBI know nothing useful about al-Qaeda before September 11? What is really behind the FBI's more aggressive investigative approaches that have raised civil liberties concerns? What does the FBI think of improvements in airline security? How safe does the FBI think America really is?
An Award-winning investigative reporter and New York Times bestselling author of Inside the White House, Ronald Kessler answers these questions and presents the definitive history of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Bureau reveals startling new information-from J. Edgar Hoover's blackmailing of Congress to the investigation of the September 11th attacks.

Diana in Florence
Florence (Italian: Firenze, pronounced [fi?r?ntse]; Old Italian: Fiorenza, Latin: Florentia) is the capital city of the Italian region of Tuscany and of the province of Florence. It is the most populous city in Tuscany and has a population of 367,569 (1,500,000 metropolitan area).
The city lies on the River Arno and is known for its history and its importance in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance, especially for its art and architecture. A centre of medieval European trade and finance, the city is often considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance; in fact, it has been called the Athens of the Middle Ages. It was long under the de facto rule of the Medici family. From 1865 to 1870 the city was also the capital of the Kingdom of Italy.
The historic centre of Florence continues to attract millions of tourists each year and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982.
Florence was originally established by Julius Caesar in 59 BC as a settlement for his veteran soldiers. It was named Florentia ('the flourishing') and built in the style of an army camp with the main streets, the cardo and the decumanus, intersecting at the present Piazza della Repubblica. Situated at the Via Cassia, the main route between Rome and the north, and within the fertile valley of the Arno, the settlement quickly became an important commercial centre. The Emperor Diocletian is said to have made Florentia the seat of a bishopric around the beginning of the 4th century AD, but this seems impossible in that Diocletion was a notable persecutor of Christians. In the ensuing two centuries, the city experienced turbulent periods of Ostrogothic rule, during which the city was often troubled by warfare between the Ostrogoths and the Byzantines, which may have caused the population to fall to as few as 1,000 people. Peace returned under Lombard rule in the 6th century. Florence was conquered by Charlemagne in 774 and became part of the Duchy of Tuscany, with Lucca as capital. The population began to grow again and commerce prospered. In 854, Florence and Fiesole were united in one county.
Margrave Hugo chose Florence as his residency instead of Lucca at about 1000 AD. This initiated the Golden Age of Florentine art. In 1013, construction began on the Basilica di San Miniato al Monte. The exterior of the baptistry was reworked in Romanesque style between 1059 and 1128. This period also saw the eclipse of Florence's formerly powerful rival Pisa (defeated by Genoa in 1284 and subjugated by Florence in 1406), and the exercise of power by the mercantile elite following an anti-aristocratic movement, led by Giano della Bella, that resulted in a set of laws called the Ordinances of Justice (1293).
Of a population estimated at 80,000 before the Black Death of 1348, about 25,000 are said to have been supported by the city's wool industry: in 1345 Florence was the scene of an attempted strike by wool combers (ciompi), who in 1378 rose up in a brief revolt against oligarchic rule in the Revolt of the Ciompi. After their suppression, Florence came under the sway (1382–1434) of the Albizzi family, bitter rivals of the Medici. Cosimo de' Medici was the first Medici family member to essentially control the city from behind the scenes. Although the city was technically a democracy of sorts, his power came from a vast patronage network along with his alliance to the new immigrants, the gente nuova (new people). The fact that the Medici were bankers to the pope also contributed to their rise. Cosimo was succeeded by his son Piero, who was shortly thereafter succeeded by Cosimo's grandson, Lorenzo in 1469. Lorenzo was a great patron of the arts, commissioning works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli. Lorenzo was also an accomplished musician and brought some of the most famous composers and singers of the day to Florence, including Alexander Agricola, Johannes Ghiselin, and Heinrich Isaac. By contemporary Florentines (and since), he was known as "Lorenzo the Magnificent" (Lorenzo il Magnifico).
Following the death of Lorenzo de' Medici in 1492, he was succeeded by his son Piero II. When the French king Charles VIII invaded northern Italy, Piero II chose to resist his army. But when he realized the size of the French army at the gates of Pisa, he had to accept the humiliating conditions of the French king. These made the Florentines rebel and they expelled Piero II. With his exile in 1494, the first period of Medici rule ended with the restoration of a republican government.
During this period, the Dominican monk Girolamo Savonarola had become prior of the San Marco monastery in 1490. He was famed for his penitential sermons, lambasting what he viewed as widespread immorality and attachment to material riches. He blamed the exile of the Medicis as the work of God, punishing them for their decadence. He seized the opportunity to carry through political reforms leading to a more democratic rule. But when Savonarola publi
M&S rapped by over-60's for failing to cater for their demographic
Elderly customers of the department store have expressed concern that they are not being catered for.
Speaking to a crowd of 2,000 at the Royal Festival Hall, 75-year-old Hilary Roodyn told the M&S AGM that they are "missing a trick" as the clothes sold in the store's fashion department are geared at younger customers and are thus too revealing for elderly women. "Nobody's going to have a bare midriff at our age" she added.
In response to this request, M&S chairman Robert Swannell said: "Next year my dear wife will be passing this age so I will be getting first-hand advice on this topic."
Kate Bostock, executive director for general merchandise, said: "We try very hard to cater for our over-60s ladies. We try all the time but there is plenty of room for improvement."

A Bad Chinese Host
We’ve encountered this well-known "daw sya" Chinese Wedding host and an online blogger about fashion and etc.. yelling on our crew about the location of the projector screen. Mr. Chinese Wedding Host yelled on our crew saying different kinds of discouraging comments instead of saying his request in a nice manner. My wife went to the area where this Chinese host is yelling our people, my wife said, “we do not treat our crew like that, you can say it in a nice way, and in the first place they are my crew not yours, you do not have the right to give instructions to them. Now, if you have any concern you can say it directly to me and I will be the one to instruct my crew” said by my wife to this rude Chinese host. Chinese host replied, “You don’t want to mess with me GIRL!, You don’t know me!” My wife replied “You don’t want to mess with me either! And you don’t know me as well!, you should say it in a nice way and we do not treat our people the way you do. The rude Chinese host apologizes with a higher tone of voice “Well I’m sorry!” (with a nasty look on his face) my wife said, “Well, You are not sincere”, the chinese host apologizes to my wife but with a different tone of voice. The Chinese wedding host approached me that he already said sorry. He approached me and said, “I already apologized to your wife, ano siya luluhod pa ba ako sa kanya? She did not accept my apology ang daming nakadinig na guest”. Would you accept an apology that is not sincere with a nasty look on his face? he should apologize to our crew as well. He's worried that there are guests already in the area that heard the discussion, in the first place he's the one harassing our crew with inappropriate words and high tone of voice, he didn't even think of that.
We don’t know why those wedding coordinators are also scared and shaking when he gives orders. He even yelled the waiters instructing them to hurry up in serving the food, good thing that there is no waiter that has a courage to punch you in your face giving them that kind of attitude.
To you Mr. Chinese Wedding Host, We do not treat people the way you do. You yell at those suppliers where you’re not suppose to handle, Your the host and should stay as a host and leave the job to the wedding coordinators. In the first place, you’re not paying for their food even their salaries. Though the coordinators said that you’re a perfectionist at weddings.. you should not treat the people like that, you should not THREATHEN my wife beforehand “You don’t want to mess up with me GIRL!, You don’t know me” so what do you mean by that? We do not step on people like you do, Even if you have great achievements you should share it for those people who need it and you don’t need to say “Ta-tanga tanga ka” or “Use your common sense” words that can discourage them, Not all people are all intelligent as you do and stop being big headed. Masyado ata mataas ang tingin mo sa sarili mo. Mahirap yan pag bumaksak ka, Masakit :) .
Well all that I can say is you have an attitude problem Mr. Chinese Wedding Host.
There are many Chinese speaking host out there with a good attitude, I don’t know why clients booked you, baka di nila alam totoong ugali mo. If you have attitude problems or Psychological problems have it managed first before you handle weddings, it might end up a disaster.
If you want to know more about this Chinese Speaking/Singing Wedding Host. According to my research.. He’s part of DLSU, a PSYCHOLOGY GRADUATE??? at DLSU, a PROFESSOR.. and He’s a blind item blogger and creator of FASHION PARAK.COM , not the real name of the site though, you can easily find it out in the internet, wanting fans on his FB page to hit 2 Million readers.
For years of documenting weddings, I don't know that there is a host with this kind of attitude. I laugh also because he didn't even mention our studio or give us credits on those AVPs that has been viewed on the wedding day.
We don't care even if your popular or who you are, You will be in our A.H. list!
Be kind, nice, and down-to-earth to everyone, even under pressure. Specially if your in a once in a lifetime event like weddings. Everybody should be relaxed and happy from guest and even fellow suppliers.. always give the best wedding experience to everyone.

Jonathan: *watches Suki as she walks away* "And that charming young lady was whom?"
Yuri: "Suki Eto. A cousin on my mother's side."
Jonathan: "Suki Eto the surfer? I thought she looked familiar. She is quite brilliant. Have you ever seen her surf in person? It is an astonishing sight."
Yuri (amazed): "You follow surfing?"
Jonathan: "Yes, if you remember I have always taken a great interest in water sports. I was reared on an island after all."
Yuri: "I assumed that interest was dedicated exclusively to boating and swimming."
Jonathan: *elegant shrug* "You were mistaken."
Yuri: *clears throat* "Well, be that as it may, your methods of assuring Candy's wellbeing are at best unsettling and at worst scandalous!"
Jonathan: "I do recognize that fact, Yuri, but regardless of what Candy was told by third parties..." *stares intently at Yuri*
Yuri: *shifts uncomfortably*
Jonathan: "I do care for her immensely, and if I had seen she was in need, I would have found a way to help her. Now, she has disappeared and I am increasingly frantic to locate her. Where is she?"
Yuri (tightly): "Your private investigator must not be terribly adroit if he cannot supply you with that information."
Jonathan: *hooks thumbs in pockets and sighs* "I did not want him to do anything more than monitor Candy within the confines of the city. Once she entered the airport his job was at an end."

Charlie - RIP
Charlie left this world late last year. He got lucky and met Elsa, who brought him home and gave him a wonderful life. You were a great guy, Charlie.

In a snug New England fishing village, Charlie St. Cloud tends the lawns and monuments of an ancient cemetery where his younger brother, Sam, is buried. After surviving the car accident that claimed his brother's life, Charlie is graced with an extraordinary gift: He can see, talk to, and even play catch with Sam's spirit. Into this magical world comes Tess Carroll, a captivating woman training for a solo sailing trip around the globe. Fate steers her boat into a treacherous storm that propels her into Charlie's life. Their beautiful and uncommon connection leads to a race against time and a choice between death and life, between the past and the future, between holding on and letting go — and the discovery that miracles can happen if we simply open our hearts.
Questions for Ben Sherwood About Charlie St. Cloud
Q: Did you always imagine your book becoming a movie?
A: In a word...no. I quit a great job at NBC News in New York to write this book. It was a risky career move. I wish I could say the road was easy, but it wasn’t. There were major creative challenges and serious professional setbacks. Indeed, the route from blank page to the finished book might well be described as a near-death publishing experience. Perhaps that’s why I never really imagined this book becoming a movie. Indeed, the very idea of a film adaptation seemed farfetched. As one of my close friends always said: "I’ll believe Charlie St. Cloud is a movie when I’m sitting in the theater and eating popcorn."
Q: How involved were you with the movie and did you write the screenplay?
A: The producers and studio were generous to include me at many stages of the process but I wasn’t involved with the movie or screenplay. I was fortunate to visit the production twice, once on location in a cemetery and another time on a soundstage in Vancouver. Each time, I relished how filmmakers turned some of the book’s tiniest details into movie reality. For instance, Major League Baseball sent three small Red Sox mitts for Sam to use when he played catch with Charlie. I watched an assistant prop master carry a brand-new red mitt around all day, rubbing it constantly to give it a well-worn appearance.
On another occasion, the director showed me the closing shot of the film. Today, words still fail to describe the exhilarating experience of seeing Charlie and Tess literally sailing into the sunset. Seven years earlier, in the quiet of my little writing room, I had imagined these two young people on a boat aimed at the open ocean. Suddenly, they were on the screen, leaning into each other with wind tousling their hair and sails, steering a Gryphon Solo, one of the world’s fastest fifty-foot sailboats, filmed by a camera mounted on a helicopter hovering above.
Q: How does it feel to see your book turned into a movie?
A: Quite simply, I’m filled with gratitude. To create the movie version of Charlie St. Cloud, it took 28 actors, 34 stunt people, and some 250 crew. When I visited the set in Vancouver, I tried my best to thank every single one, including the wrangler responsible for a noisy flock of geese, the messy bane of Charlie’s existence.
When I called my wife in Los Angeles, she asked, "How does it feel?" I thought for a moment. Then I answered: "I want to hug every person I meet."
Q: Did you imagine Zac Efron as Charlie St. Cloud?
A: In candor, I never imagined Zac Efron in the role of Charlie. Wrecked by loss and grief, Charlie was a character who had wasted many years of his precious life. I always imagined Charlie as much older and much sadder. Thank goodness I’m not a movie producer.
I salute the studio and producers for realizing that Efron was a perfect choice. Young, dynamic, and charismatic, he embodies the promise of Charlie St. Cloud without the burden and loss. With Efron’s vibrant presence and performance, a sometimes weighty story feels more hopeful and uplifting. As I told Efron when we met in the cemetery in Vancouver, I’m delighted and very thankful that he took the part and filled it with vitality.
Q: How do you feel about the movie being made in Vancouver, Canada instead of Marblehead, Massachussetts, where the novel takes place?
A: I love Marblehead and the people of the town. While researching the book, I traveled to Marblehead several times to walk among the tombstones in Waterside Cemetery, eat breakfast with fishermen at the Driftwood before dawn, drink beers with 'Headers at Maddie's, and compete in my first and only sailboat race.
Vancouver is a country away from the wonderful town where I situated the story. But a movie adaptation isn't supposed to be a literal translation of a book. It's an interpretation. While I sincerely hoped that the film would be made in Massachusetts--and while the filmmakers tried their best too--I understood the financial decision to pick Canada, where production costs are significantly lower.
Given this choice, the filmmakers did a great job transplanting Charlie and Sam's story to the Pacific Northwest, which looks absolutely spectacular on film.
Q: Your writing seems to focus on questions of life and death. Why?
A: Maybe it's my age or life experience but I've spent a lot of time thinking about how we overcome grief and loss and make the most of our time on earth. These are subjects that have come to occupy my recent work. Over the last few years, I wrote a nonfiction book called The Survivors Club, exploring the secrets and science of the world’s most effective survivors and thrivers. Interviewing survivors around the world, I discovered even more proof that love is a powerful and universal survival tool. In my own life, falling in love with my future wife, Karen, helped unlock the stranglehold of my father’s sudden and untimely death 17 years ago. (That’s why I dedicated the book to both of them.) In Charlie's case, discovering Tess helped him break free of the cemetery and the suffocating grip of grief.
Q: You have two young sons. What do you hope they take away from this book some day?
A: When I was leaving the movie set in Vancouver to fly home to Los Angeles, one of the producers generously asked if I wanted a souvenir from the production. I asked for one of Sam’s red mitts from Major League Baseball. Our two young boys can play catch with it. Then some day when they outgrow it, the glove can sit in my office, a reminder of the power of brotherly love and what happens when you take risks, seize life, and set your imagination free.
