Puff Pastry --

8 oz chevre room temperature + 2 eggs

1 cup shreded brocoli stalks

2 tbsp shredded carrots

1 cup fresh baby spinach

1 tsp fresh basil

First cook the spinach. steam the spinach and drain all moisture. Set aside.

Now cook the shredded broccoli and carrots. I do this in one of two ways; either microwave it or put it in a steamer basket over boiling water for about 5 min.

Beat the chevre and eggs in a bowl until well combined.

Stir together the broccoli and cheese

Roll out the puff pastry

Pour the veggie cheese mixture into the center of the puff pastry and spread it to the edges

Fold the edges in to make a crust

Now space the spinach out over the tart

Toss the basil around over the whole thing

Put it in the oven at 425 for 15 min.

Put on counter to cool. Walk away to put on your make-up to go to work. Come back to missing pieces of tart with a sisterness standing over it saying you are NOT taking the leftovers into the office...

Warning. If you fry an egg and put it on top of a slice of this tart you might just achieve culinary evil.

2 bunches of Brocolli: Crowns only, remove stem and cut brocolli into medium/large 'tree-bites'. Use a steamer basket and about 1 inch of water to steam brocolli heads for 5-10 minutes or until tender but not mushy.
shred 1 cup jalepeno jack cheese
cube 1 cup velvetta cheese
Mix broccoli and cheese in a bowl
add salt, coarse ground pepper to taste..
Microwave on medium 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, Stir, repeat heating process and Voila, Broccoli cheese melt,
Great as a sauce/flavoring for spinach fettuccine...Sprinkle with Parmesan and extra pepper just before serving...

1905 Estate Coal stove

This is a combination of parts from two different stoves. The patent date on the stove that came with the x376 was 1905. The Estate coal stove company located in Hamilton Ohio started production of stoves using the name Estate in 1905. The serial number now on this one is number 246. The original had cracks in the metal and I located a "mate" to it and purchased it from a man in Kansas. The second stove seemed to have good parts in all the right places. Notes can be read upon clicking on the picture.

Quiche With Ham And Cheese

* 3/4 cup of onions - chopped
* 2 teaspoons of butter
* 4 ounces of gruyere cheese
* 4 ounces of provolone cheese
* 4 ounces of deli ham
* 1 ready-made pie crust
* 1 1/3 cups of light cream
* 4 eggs
* 1 tablespoon of dijon mustard
* 1/3 teaspoon of salt
* 1/8 teaspoon of ground black pepper

Pre-heat Oven to 350 Degrees

Chop onion and place in microwave dish.

Add butter and cover with plastic wrap.

Cook in microwave on high for 1 and 1/2 minutes. Set Aside and let cool.

Shred cheese.

Chop ham into ? inch bits.

In a frozen pie crust, layer:
1/3 of the cheese, ? of the onions, and ? of the ham; repeat layering, ending up with cheese on the top.

Set aside.

Mix together cream, eggs, mustard, salt and pepper until well blended.

Slowly pour custard over quiche.

Bake for 50 minutes or until golden brown.

Made of quality stainless steel, this roaster begins with a vertical roasting stand that attaches to a large, round drip tray (the stand collapses for easy storage). In the center of the drip tray sits a round dish with cone shaped top. Fill the round dish with herbs, spices, cider, juices or beer; as your chicken rests on the stand, the aromas and flavors from the liquids and herbs pass through the perforations on the cone shaped top, filling the cavity of the bird and adding moisture to the meat as it roasts. Instructions on using the vertical roaster are included.

If your last experiment with a vertical roaster led to the bird tipping on its tripod base and landing in the grease pouring out of its cavity, here's a chance to get it right. This Norpro model is versatile enough to serve as a horizontal 13-by-8-1/2-inch rack for roasts. And it easily but sturdily converts to vertical roasting by anchoring up to four hooked pieces to the slats of the flat rack, enabling two birds to roast on this roost, cooking evenly inside and out, with no danger of capon cartwheel. Flipping the bird, so to speak, is a thing of the past--there's no need to pull the rack out of the oven halfway through cooking--and you may as well roast two while you have the heat cranked up (put one in the freezer for next week). Ham, Turkey, and Chicken along with Bacon and Potato Salad

Bacon and Potato Salad

Ingredients
5 eggs
4 slices bacon
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard, or to taste
1 cup mayonnaise
3 stalks celery, minced
2 pounds small potatoes
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1.Place the potatoes in a pot with enough water to cover, and bring to a boil. Cook for about 20 minutes, or until tender. Drain and cool.
2.Meanwhile, place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover, and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, and place in a bowl of cold water to cool.
3.Peel the eggs, and place 3 of them into a large bowl. Reserve the rest for later. Mash the eggs in the bowl with a fork. Stir in the mustard, mayonnaise, celery, salt and pepper. Set aside.
4.Cook bacon slices in the microwave for about 4 minutes, until crisp, or fry in a skillet over medium-high heat. Crumble 2 of the bacon slices into the mayonnaise mixture. Reserve the rest for garnish.
5.Peel and chop the potatoes, and stir into the bowl until evenly coated. Slice the 2 remaining eggs, and place on top of the salad. Crumble the remaining bacon over the eggs, then sprinkle parsley over the top.

1 roll of packing tape

you will also need:
microwave (1)
paper towels (1 roll)
newspaper (some)
porch / drying station (1)
paleness
a partner (for the back)

microwave bacon, 8 strips at a time. allow to dry on paper towels. when all bacon has been cooked, spread out strips individually on newspaper (at your drying station). coat each strip as much as possible with shellac. allow to dry overnight.

realize that hot glue will not make semi-cooked meat stick to cheap cloth; cover entire front of bikini with one layer of packing tape. individually place and tape each piece of bacon on the now plastic parts of your bikini. when finished, add one more layer of packing tape horizontally to seal your fate.

once you arrive at your destination (baconfest), have a buddy (thanks evel) tape the back of your bikini. tuck in all sharp parts. repeat process on the back: tape bacon-at-a-time; seal.

now you can't sit down, so don't. avoid carnivorous animals at all costs.

put on extra sunscreen, since you're cooking...literally. boob burns hurt!

when the fun is done, throw remnants in dumpster.

Removing EBL Scalp

I work my way around the scalp, pulling up on the hair along the scalp line to see if I am able to find an area where the scalp will pull away from the face plate. The best place to start would be at the sides of the head, where there is a gap in the flange.

Once I have an area that has pulled away from the face plate, I use a flat head screwdriver (with the head of the screwdriver wrapped in masking tape to prevent sharp edges from cutting into or tearing the scalp), and I push it in this small opening and pull up. I work my way around the head, pulling up as I go.

I make sure not to rest the shaft of the screwdriver on the plastic head plates when prying. That will cause gouges. I often use my thumb to rest the screwdriver so that it does not come in contact with the face plates.

If you have an extremely glue ridden EBL or BL, you may want to try soaking the top of the head in hot water to loosen the glue. The best way to do this is to stand her on her head in the bowl of water. Balance her against a wall or other items to prevent her from falling in the water. You do not want to let her stock eyelashes get wet, unless you plan on removing them anyway. If the lashes get wet, they will fall out.

You may need to soak the head multiple times before the glue softens. Or it may not soften enough even after soaking. If your EBL or BL blythe does have a lot of glue, you may need to cut the flange a bit or work very, very carefully to loosen the flange (using a razor knife). If some of the flange tears away, don't be alarmed. Just try to preserve as much as possible. If you do end up with some flange left in the gutter, due to excessive glue, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers to grab onto it and pull it out. Then use a razor knife to remove any pieces that may still be glued into the gutter.

My cabinet over the range used to be here and is removed temporarily for this work. That socket was just hooked-up today. What's unique is that the upper socket is wired to the circuit on the left side of the kitchen and the lower socket is wired to the right had side of the kitchen. I removed the tab that gangs the sockets together. This means I can plug in the microwave oven to either circuit depending on what what side of the kitchen I have the toaster over plugged into.

We looked at dual fuel versions of this, but I decided to go with the all gas version. I can't cook on electric, because I've only had it in apartments. It has a convection oven, conversion from conventional to convection computer, fast and long clean cycles, the bottom drawer is a warming drawer only. Oven has a hold warm feature. The front right burner is big BTU for Wok cooking. Back right is for simmering. The oven door glass is big and the light is bright.

vegan blueberry crumb cake (now with recipe!)

This is what I make to share with folks after church and it's always a hit. I usually have most of these ingredients hanging out in my kitchen, so it's a good recipe for last-minute endeavors, or when I'm just craving a baked good. I converted my favorite muffin recipe and veganized it.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 flax egg (1 tbsp flax, 3 tbsp water)
1/3 cup non-dairy milk of your choice
Zest of half a lemon
1 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen

For the crumb topping (you can be pretty inexact with the measurements on this)
1/4 cup white sugar
2 tbsp AP flour

Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees (200 C). Butter (okay, margarine) all sides of a 9X5" loaf pan and sprinkle with flour. This will make it super easy to pop the cake out when it's cooled.

2. In a small bowl, mix the ground flax with (warm) water. Set aside. Tip: I usually put the flax egg in the microwave for about 15 seconds at a time to get it the right eggy texture.

3. Combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Make a well in the center, and pour in the vegetable oil, flax egg, non-dairy milk, and lemon zest. Fold this together. Be careful not to over-mix. Muffin-mixing rules should apply here. Fold in the blueberries.
Tip: To keep the blueberries from sinking you can coat them in a little flour. This helps the batter grip onto them.

4. Make the crumb topping. Mix together the sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Use a fork to mash and mix in the margarine. You're looking for pea-sized crumbs. I always end up using my hands to mix this. Whatever works best for you. You could also do this ahead of time.

5. Bake for 40 minutes, and then stick a knife/toothpick/skewer in near the middle to check for doneness. If it comes out clean (with some crumbs on it) it's done! It really depends on your oven. I had a ten minute difference in bake times between two different ovens.
Note: If you stick it in the very middle it's not going to look done because the crumb topping will be all melted. It will solidify when it cools.

6. Slide a knife around the edges of the cake, and it should slide right out. It's best to make wide slices as it's pretty crumbly. Eat it up.

For those keeping score, we have a little liquification, some browning on the tips, but not much blending of the cheeses. Perhaps I should mist the pizzas with water or top with fresh tomatos. What I've found in the past is that partially pre-melting the soy cheese in a bowl in the microwave then drizzling it over the pie results in perfect melting, blending, and browning in the oven, since the microwave works by vibrating the water molecules in the food.. I just didn't take the extra step this time. If you try it, you'll only need to melt the soy cheese for a couple tens of seconds. Avoid completely liquifying the cheese.
