This is the intro tab for the popular Taylor Swift song 'You Belong With Me.'

Each bar contains two ways of playing the intro.

First two measures of each bar is the simple version. Last two measures of each bar is the harder version.

There are 3 bars, each consecutive bar is a more advanced way of playing the intro than the other.

Hope this helps.

Devotional Frenzy - Get your tongue and cheeks pierced !!

Devotion to God takes many forms ! To fulfill a vow made to Gods , some people observe some bizarre customs as shown above , like piercing their tongue or their cheeks , as a measure of thanksgiving to the Gods !
They are young couple and Amman devotees. They are now before the sanctum sanctorum of the local temple of the Goddess . The pambai ( a twin drummed musical instrument ) sound rents the air and they are in a trance ! Now the wife gets her tongue pierced by a sharp silver trishul ! Devotional cries are heard everywhere ! The thanksgiving ceremony in the temple starts !!

Neil Young

Neil Young

You wouldn't hold out much hope of enjoyment if stuck watching a bunch of aged country-rockers on a $10 DVD out of the bargain bin! None of them under 50, playing straight on-stage sets, often with little facial animation while wielding an overdose of battered guitars -- including an - ug - slide guitar -- for over an hour and a half, filmed in an extremely conservative and unexciting way in front of the most basic of all-country sets, would you? Absolutely my definition of wrist-slitting material.

The description from IMDB doesn't make it seem any better -- "A film shot over during a two-night performance by Neil Young at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium" .

But we'd all be wrong. Neil Young: Heart of Gold is a captivating treasure. Heartfelt, low key top quality music beautifully filmed by a master. I had no preconceptions other than that I'd picked it up in that bargain bin a few days before. I put it on just before shutting down to go to bed last night -- to confirm my fears based on previous bargain purchases. Sitting on the edge of the lounge, skipped through the intro discussions (it's a documentary film, not just a concert), got to the first on-stage track ... and didn't move again until it finished. Of course, being the right age, I knew Neil Young's music, but had no idea of the circumstances of this film or the qualities that director Jonathan Demme brought to the making of it. Demme is a master (did I say that already?). The visual compositions, colours and viewpoints were gorgeous and often very close. His attention span is more than 0.9 of a second so you actually managed to see the performers and were spared the ADHD-like whirling cameras that characterise most concert footage, apparently in an attempt to create a false feeling of quality and immediacy and/or to make up for poor lighting and lousy technique and that just becomes irritating after a short while not to mention boring and predictable in a random kind of way if you know what I mean and get my point which is that I don't really like that kind of thing at least for more than a minute or so and I wish concert filmers would get over it.

In this, the camera was always in the right place, the lighting was superb for such difficult circumstances and you just felt ... comfortable. And then ... rapt. The audio was outstanding, I really don't know how they achieved such quality in a concert environment.

Although I knew nothing of the circumstances in which this (actually these two) concerts were filmed, there was an overwhelming sense of poignancy (thanks for the word Suzie, that's the one I was looking for) -- a kind of positive introspection, one man's life journey, personal history, friendship and family, experiences and maturation ... reflection and assessment, all that stuff. I discovered later that the performances were bracketed by Young's health drama including brain surgery a couple of days later (successful). This real-life dramatic backdrop shows in the film in a positive and understated way, partly explaining the perfection, complicity and underlying emotion of it. He was with his friends (and wife), something that was not obvious at first other than a deduction you could make from the appalling clothes and general lack of glam on stage. Who would invite such people to play with you unless you loved'em and they loved you, and they could play and sing? I'm highly allergic to the raging schmaltz of many similar US productions but somehow this escaped, probably due to the low-keyness.

Emmylou Harris was there too.

A magic discovery and a wonderful film. It becomes my first entrant into new set for quality things, things that work and should be appreciated and encouraged.

Death of a Media

Death of a Media

Death of a Media

Music has always been a large part of my life it’s been the one constant element since I was eight listening to my Devo record (yes record). Through thick and thin I’ve always turned to music to comfort me or to celebrate with. My wife is the same way (one of the things that drew us together). So it’s no surprise that between us we have amassed a fair sized collection with very diverse tastes … In this rack there is everything from Rock, Reggae, Electronica, instrumental, classical, Thrash, Blues Basically any form of music with the exception of country (shudder)

Which brings me to this photo … when is the last time you bought a CD?? An actual CD from a shop?? It’s been at least 5 years for me. I still buy music, sometimes weekly but it’s all digital downloads never a hard copy.
During my ACL recovery in January I plan on taking all these CD’s and ripping them to digital format as right now it’s been months since I even played a CD… I still miss the hours spent in the record shops browsing through albums.. Now I spend hours online browsing but it’s not the same…
So in my life i've had records, tapes, CD's and now digital ... what's next?

Hollywood Sunset, May 2010

Hollywood Sunset, May 2010

This is the view out of
my friend Guy Erez's recording
studio in the old
Security Pacific Bank Building
at Hollywood & Cahuenga
in Hollywood at the
most magic moments of
the magic hour.

This is looking northeast -
towards the Hollywood Tower
in the bottom right corner -
where Bogart & Bacall used
to spend time, among other
luminaries.

And up above that is
the Griffith Observatory -
which just recently went through
a tremendous overhaul
and expansion - so in addition
to the iconic beauty of the
building is the astronomical
feast which is offered to
all who make the trek -
I used to frequently
ride my bicycle up the mountain
all the way to the observatory,
which is much easier than
it sounds as the road leading
up winds around the
mountains in a very
gradual uphill lift, so that it's
pretty easy to ride -
and you feel so glad when you
reach the top and see
the beautiful view in all directions -
on a clear day you can easily
see the ocean to the west
(& despite what you might
assume, the air quality in
Los Angeles - because of
new regulations in the last
30 years - is much better than
it was, quite noticeably so -
and views that were always
shrouded in smog or
now visible most of the time)
and to the southeast and quite
close are the towers of downtown
L.A. - and straight south is
all of Hollywood.

The Observatory is beautiful itself
to see and experience -
and is historic -
especially for its usage in the culmination of
"Rebel Without A Cause" starring
the late great Mr. James Dean.

The sunset - and the view from
Guy's studio - is something
I know like the back of my
hand - or maybe the palm -
because for more than 10
years I had my office -
as editor of SongTalk,
the journal of the
National Academy
of Songwriters (NAS) -
we had six of the office
spaces at the end of this
hall - including the one in which
Guy now operates. My own
office was next door to
Guy's studio. In the very office
where Guy is was the office of
the boss - the director of NAS -
and the adjoining outer office
was his secretary/assistant's
office.

Now I have been working in
Guy's studio - recording vocals
for my upcoming album
"Universal Cure" on
Trough Records -
and it is so surreal to me
to be working on these tracks
right there where I had
some great times - and
some times of furious
insanity - with the three
different bosses who inhabited
this office while I was there.

It simply blew my mind
when I found out Guy was
there - I knew he was
in the building I was - but not
until I came to see him there for
the first time did I discover that
his studio is in the heart of
that place I essentially lived in
-night and day -
between 1987 and 1997.

What are the chances? And Guy's
son sits next to my son
in school. And they have become
good pals. As have I with
Guy, a tremendous producer,
songwriter and
bassist - he currently is
playing bass in the
Alan Parson's Project.

It's these kind of connections
which convince me that
people who think there is
no spiritual component to our
lives - a transcendent
reality which is connected
to the world we know -
are crazy.

Wieke
December 2010

My sweet friend Wieke is turning sixteen today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HER! :D
Reminds me my 18th birthday is in 2 weeks...
The past half year she has been my model and I am always happy with the pictures of her. She is a fine model and a good friend. I hope she will be both for many more years.

My titles are often from songs and this one is from a song by Apocalyptica, one of the bands Wieke listens to a lot (I listen to it, too). She also plays the cello herself.

The high and low points in life are much like the notes in music. An isolated note against silence is meaningless without a context but the same note becomes an integral part of a symphony adding its own flavor.

Samples that I put in this blog are not of great sound quality but still listenable and are dedicated to Christophe's supporters . Multifaceted character, Christophe released a mystery that does not grow, but it offers as an armor to those who wish to interview him.

he is above all great artists of this century with Italian origins that we like to listen, I think it has again seduct its large female audience with his latest songs.

Daniel Bevilacqua was born October 13, 1945 at Juvisy-sur-Orge near Paris. He is the son of a masonry contractor of Italian origin. Young Daniel is quite rebellious in his school life in where he is bored . he will then skim pensions and attend no fewer than a dozen high school until about age of 16 years.

He gained his first musical emotions about 8 years. Edith Piaf & Gilbert Becaud were his first idols, soon supplanted by the blues, a real revelation for the young man: he discovered Robert Johnson and especially John Lee Hooker. Much later, he will collect the 78s blues.

In the late '50s, he receives the brunt of the wave rock'n'roll, the Bill Haley, Little Richard and Elvis Presley of course. The music became his passion, he also plays the harmonica and guitar.

Daniel Bevilacqua creates his first band at 61, Danny and Baby Hooligans. He resumed Gene Vincent, or rock'n'roll standards like "Heartbreak Hotel". He is a singer-guitarist.

First record
At 63, he recorded his first 45 laps on the label of the famous Parisian Room, Golf Drouot. "Come back Sophie, inspired by American black music goes completely unnoticed.

It is in fact not until 1965 and the release of "Aline" under the pseudonym of Christophe to see the success happen. Regarding the slow summer, he would be more than one tidal waves because these are some 1 million copies of the 45 laps left in Disc'AZ are sold. The same year, Christophe sings "Puppet", new success. It recidivism "I heard the Sea" 66 and "Excuse me Mr. Professor" in 67.

Passionated about cars (including Cadillac), Christophe then bought models Sport. Truly fascinated by the beautiful mechanical and power they generate, the singer showing off driving his Lamborghini. At 68, he even participates in a race as a pilot.

1973: "The Lost Paradise"
At the end of the ye-ye, Christophe disappears like some other singers of the charts. At 71, he married Veronique and became the father of a daughter, Lucia. But it is only 73 we hear again about him. More demanding in terms of music, the singer returns with the album "The Lost Paradise". The text is signed Jean-Michel Jarre, then a young unknown songwriter. Christophe has left his look of young man "as he is" 60 years to be in the range of slightly decadent dandy singing in a detached "The Last of Bevilacqua" or hit "Senorita." November 74, he spent two nights in a row at the Olympia for an amazing show that marks the memories of spectators.

At 75, released the album "Les Mots bleus". From pop-star and crooner, he confirms with this album its place in the French variety. But the fires sometimes resemble spotlights near which the sun Icarus comes to burn the wings. The man is passionate and extremist. In a moment of emptiness, he slips from his own confession, the field of drugs.

The album "Pretty Odd" which was released in 78, reinforces this image of an artist apart, secret and seconded contingent of showbiz. Most titles are signed Bob Decout including "A little liar".

At the request of his wife Veronica, Christopher spring 80, the 45s "Aline" and aligns 3 million and a half of sales. Three years later, a new 45s "success fool" will again propel Christophe top of the charts with 600,000 copies are sold.

But only the following year the singer released a dandy new album of standards for years 40-50. "layouts love" include titles like "Last Kiss" (French version of "Besame mucho") or "Arrivederci Roma." At 85, he even write a song-wink at the young Stephanie of Monaco, "Do not hang up. Christopher is an artist elusive, sometimes flirting with the sham and tasteless making him a si

Day 453 - Day 088

“Well, my daddy left home when I was three, and he didn’t leave much to ma and me… but the meanest thing that he ever did was before he left he went and named me Sue”
Boy Named Sue: Johnny Cash, Live At Folsom Prison

When the movie “Walk the Line” came out, I was not one that ran to the theaters to see it. I was a Johnny Cash fan and played a lot of his music, but it wasn’t like I traded collectible cards with his picture on them. Cash wasn’t the strongest musician but he was an incredible story teller and carried this presence on and off stage. This song had been one of my favorites for many years.

I finally saw the movie at my sister’s house, and at the end my sister was an instant fan of Johnny Cash and wanted any and all recordings of Mr. Cash. She asked if I had any so I shared this and another that were not in the movie. My sister and I sat down and listened to this song over and over and over- and I still remember the smile on her face, her head cocked back laughing, and then of course us comparing the song’s father to our own.

When I hear this song, I remember my sister and these laugh we shared. I suppose I could say that this song was a musical influence in that I learned to tell stories in songs. I love that so many of Johnny’s songs are actually more talking than singing- he and Leonard Cohen are the masters!

*** Artist Notes ***
I wanted to capture simply that I hated my name Sue….

Lyrics:
Well, my daddy left home when I was three
and he didn’t leave much to ma and me
just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze
now I don’t blame him cause he ran and hid
but the meanest thing that he ever did
was before he left he went and named me Sue

Well he must a' thought that it was quite a joke
and it got a lot of laughs from a lots of folk
it seems I had to fight my whole life through
some gal would giggle and I'd get red
and some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head
I tell ya life ain't easy for a boy named Sue

Well i grew up quick and I grew up mean
my fists got hard and my wits got keen
I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame
but I made me a vow to the moon and stars
that I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
and kill that man that give me that awful name

Well it was Gatlinburg in mid July
and I'd just hit town and my throat was dry
I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew
at an old saloon on a street of mud
there at a table dealin' stud
sat the dirty mangy dog that named me Sue

Well I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
from a worn out picture that my mother'd had
and I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye
he was big and bent and grey and old
and I looked at him and my blood ran cold
and I said 'My name is Sue how do you do
now you're gonna die!'

Yeah! that's what I told him

Well I hit him hard right between the eyes
and he went down but to my surprise
he come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear
but I busted a chair right across his teeth
and we crashed through the wall and into the street
kickin' and a'gougin' in the mud and the blood and the beer

I tell ya I've fought tougher men
but I really can't remember when
he kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile
I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss
and he went for his gun and I pulled mine first
he stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile

And he said "Son this world is rough
and if a man's gonna make it he's got to be tough
and I know I wouldn't be there to help you along
so I give you that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
and it's that name that helped to make you strong"

He said "Now you just fought one hell of a fight
and I know you hate me and you got the right
to kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do
but you oughtta thank me before I die
for the gravel in your guts and the spit in your eye
cause I'm the son of a bitch that named you Sue"

Yeah! well what could I do?
What COULD I do?

I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
and I called him my pa and he called me his son
and I come away with a different point of view
and I think about him now and then
every time I try, and every time I win
and if I ever have a son I think I am gonna name him
Bill or George any damn thing but Sue

The Saltwater Angler's Guide to Florida's Big Bend and Emerald Coast (Wild Florida)

A comprehensive travel guide for fishing Florida's Gulf Coast

"Thompson provides anglers headed for Florida’s Big Bend and Emerald Coast an unlimited trip ticket to nearshore and offshore fishing adventures. Seasoned with insight and know-how, if this book were alive it would be a member of the Florida Guides Association."--Steve Kearl

"Comprehensive and up-to-date information for anglers and their families on exactly where to go and how to catch lots of fish and have lots of fun."—Russ Roy

Whether you’re an experienced angler looking for a new fishing spot or a newcomer to the sport just testing out the waters, everything you need for the perfect saltwater fishing trip is in this book. The Saltwater Angler’s Guide to Florida’s Big Bend and Emerald Coast explores all the inshore and offshore fishing locales from Pensacola to Homosassa--with GPS coordinates so you’ll never get lost!

Seasoned fisherman and licensed charter boat captain Tommy Thompson offers insider information on techniques and equipment to make the most of each trip. And, in case you and your boat trailer are far from home, Thompson recommends lodging, restaurants, bait and tackle shops, marinas, and local fishing guides for each area. In addition to pinpointing locations to find the biggest fish, he also provides a list of artificial reefs and information on scalloping, the Big Bend's alternative to South Florida's lobster season.

From on-the-water etiquette to fishing regulations, from fish species to tackle and rigging, Thompson covers every subject of concern to both pro and novice anglers. The only reason you’ll put this book down is because it's not waterproof.

PNH Guitar ARP Pres 18

PNH Guitar ARP Pres 18

This is the same process as before, only with the soundboard. Here you can see the finished bracing (it's a lot more intricate than the back, huh?) all sized and shaped. It's interesting to note the crossbrace design with the two non-symmetrical braces coming from one of x-braces. This, along with the use of the truss rod, is how the steel-string guitar maintains the tension necessary to keep the steel strings in tune without collapsing in on itself. On a classical guitar, the bracing pattern would be very different, with just a horizontal brace just underneath the soundhole with maybe 4-6 braces fanning out beneath it, symmetically.

Also worth notice is the bridge plate, the piece of rosewood inserted underneath the soundhole some 6 inches. That's there for additional reinforment of the bridge (which will be installed directly opposite on the front of the soundboard) and to keep the spruce soundboard from chipping out when we drill the holes for the bridge.

Duke Special !

Duke Special !

Pictured at Victoria Square Shopping Centre, Belfast - Sunday 24th May 2009 !

Wikipedia:

Duke Special, real name Peter Wilson, is a songwriter and performer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. A piano-based songwriter with a romantic style and a warm, distinctly-accented voice, he has a distinctive look, with his long dreadlocks, eyeliner and outfits he describes as "hobo chic". His live performances have a theatrical style inspired by Vaudeville and music hall, and often incorporate 78s played on an old-fashioned gramophone, or sound effects from a transistor radio. He is most often accompanied by percussionist "Temperance Society" Chip Bailey, who plays cheese graters and egg whisks, a Stumpf fiddle and a Shirdi drone box, as well as the more typical drums and cymbals. Other musicians who perform with Wilson from time to time include Paul "Pilot" Wilkinson (guitar), Rea Curran (trumpet, backing vocals, accordion), Ben Castle (clarinet, saxophone), Ben Hales (bass guitar), Gareth Williams, "Professor" Ger Eaton (keyboards), Dan Donnelly (mandoline, backing vocals) and Serge Archibald III (saxophone, "ethereal background sounds", vibes).

He has released three albums, Adventures in Gramophone (2005), Songs from the Deep Forest (2006), both of which were nominated for the Choice Music Prize, and I Never Thought This Day Would Come (2008). He is married to an artist and has three sons.

The Wolfpack...

The Wolfpack...

We have recently been ordered to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom
(OIF). We will begin to move the entire battalion into Iraq very shortly.
We're being tasked to cover an area South of Baghdad until we are replaced
by an Army unit. This turnover is scheduled to take place in sufficient
time to make our original deployment timeline.

Know that your Marines are ready for this. They are among the most trained
and equipped to ever enter the theatre. As you all know, these men of the
Wolfpack take care of each other wherever they go. I have no doubts that
they will conduct themselves as the professionals that they are and write
their own chapter in Marine Corps history.

...The Strength of the Wolf is the Pack...

It is one of the most recent additions to the modern symphony orchestra, first appearing in the mid-19th century, when it largely replaced the ophicleide. Tuba is Latin for trumpet or horn. The horn referred to would most likely resemble what we know as a Baroque trumpet.
