Katarina Hager’s clothing protects her from the flying dust that results from vigorously scraping plaster from the walls of Building 3 during the final (2003) excavation season in the BACH area. This movement is very different from the detailed scraping of plaster from walls during the micromorphological and conservation investigation (see CVP2005_6_23_micromorph.mov). Katarina’s aim in using the trowel this way is to remove all the plaster from the walls so the underlying bricks and mortar can be documented. During this process, her hands will get tired and dry, but archaeologists tend not to wear gloves when excavating so they can be as sensitive as possible to the changing textures of the deposits they are digging.
A New Old looking Building
It appears that everything that they construct in Bangalore looks old while they are still making it. For instance, they were building irrigation sidewalks and when they finished, it had weird brown stains on it, mud, and trash on it from construction, and road tar on the sides. It's like nothing looks new here. It's beyond me how stuff gets so dirty 6 hours after its made.
I don't know..
Enjoy though :D
