Google Cr-48 OS Not a lot i can say that you haven't seen, or can't see somewhere else. The hardware is slick and simple. This thing is about getting online and not dealing with a PC basically. While it's a comfortable coating, it picks up and holds onto grease very easily. You can clean it with a dry cloth, this is a personal preference thing for me. The trackpad and audio could both use improvement, but since these are for testing, they're good enough and set the bar high enough for manufacturers to meet and beat later on. The software, pretty much the reason to use this thing is good. If you've used Chrome anywhere, you're 95% through what ChromeOS does. It really does boot fast. 10 second or so to logon, and a few more after that. Nothing's really laggy, but streaming video stutters at moderate quality and that gets annoying. No Netflix since this is Linux. No Minecraft since Java isn't built in (specs would have trouble with Minecraft anyway). Basically: it's pretty amazing how far and how fast you can go with only Chrome and a network connection. Some plug-in support added later on will extend that even further. I like it very much, but i've only been able to use it a few hours, Shannon holds on to it most of the time, and when we show it off, i can usually expect to not have it then either. I chose the background music from a random pool out of my cds, it really is a coincidence that it fits so well with the flow and framerate (25 fps) of the video. especially when i down the first bottle of coke. why is it that Flickr only allows 90 seconds.... this sucks. this video is about 20 MB in size and 2 minutes long. so i can upload 150 MB to have it downsized and ugly compressed and also cut down in length to 90 seconds? so what did i have to pay the pro account for again? the video feature is more like a free service... seriously, i dont understand this limitation. #155 on Monday, August 18, 2008 in explore!
