We went to a lovely restaurant call Cafe Ice. They have just a double page menu, a combination of Thai, Italian, French, Mediterranean, dishes. It seems quite pricey for Thai dishes, but they do taste fantastic, especially the Steam sea bass in soy sauce and spicy sea bass. One of thier highlight dish is the crab spring roll. Casar salad is also good, the waiter mix them up right in front of you. Satay is also pretty unique, they serve with a little grill to keep the meat nice and warm at all time.

We complaint about the food being very slow, and the chef/owner was nice enough to make it up with a big piece cheese cake. We all had to trolley out our belly by the end of the night.

The atmosphere is warm, cozy and romantic. They use mixed, polished cement floor, raw brick, lots of texture. This place is also art gallery, so on every wall, and empty space there interesting are antiques, painting, sculpture.. a nice visual treat. I felt a bit overwhelm by all these stuff though. It must be tough to keep it all clean and dust free too.

Although it is nicely decorated, no one seems to want to sit down stair, It isn't air conditioned and and the view to the road isn't that great, compare this to an open air terrace just a floor up, a much nicer atmosphere. (see the picture below)

I use my friend's camera Canon 30D, 10-22mm lens to take this. I'm not used to the camera's functionality just yet, but so far i'm impressed with its high iso/low noise performance.

Restaurant location: 44/2 Pipat Soi 2, Sathorn Soi 8, Bangkok 10500

Canon EOS 30D, 1/8s, f4.5, iso 1000, 20mm, manual exposure, wb: manual

Cafe Jack

Cafe Jack

Cafe Jack is a Korean coffeehouse and restaurant. No, that is not a real ship.

The owners of the restaurant took a modular office building of a former used car lot and added elements to convert it to resemble a luxury liner. They are trying to go for the Titanic. Cafe Jack is named after Leonardo diCaprio's character in the 1997 movie.

The inside is decorated with pictures from "Titanic," and the interior appointments are quite plush compared to the chintzy facade.
