Portrait of Anthony Ashley Cooper 2nd Earl Shaftesbury, as a young man, painted by Zoest. His father, the first Earl was a prominent Whig politician and part of the "Cabale". His own son (the 3rd Earl) was a famous 18th c philospher and friend of Voltaire.
The Ashley Cooppers were founders of Charleston, Carolina, where they were Lord proprietors. The constitution which they introduced to the New World formed the basis of some of the central tennets of human rights, including the "habeas corpus".
The frame of this painting was designed by William Kent who was commissioned the remodelling of the residence by Ashley Cooper Earl of Shaftesbury.
This is an overmantle frame, hung in a central position above the fireplace and the motifs are specially designed to fit with the interior decoration of the whole room, redesigned by Kent and executed by Flitcroft

Just like the Disney parks, VMK got all decked out for the holidays too. Whether for Halloween or Christmas, Main Street's make-over in decoration and music was amazing.

Along with the holiday overlay, within VMK the holidays brought tons of new or rereleased items, like clothing and furniture. We even got some cool Guest Rooms at holiday time too! The quests and parties were great too, but nothing beat being able to celebrate with your fellow players, either wearing your favorite costume for Halloween or giving your friends Christmas gifts.
