Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 DMC-FZ30 DMC-FZ50 DMC-FZ7 DMC-FZ8 DMC-FZ18 Digital Cameras - 5 Year Extended Warranty Plan

In today?s day and age of high tech gadgets and emerging technologies one thing is certain; people are relying more and more on consumer electronics and home appliances in our daily lives than ever before. Of course, we all expect the products we buy to perform well and serve us throughout the years, but in reality consumer electronics malfunction all the time. We often buy consumer electronics or appliance products based solely on the name brand. This is because we either feel comfortable with the quality the manufacturer produces or we take comfort in knowing that in the event of a malfunction the manufacturer will stand by their product and make the necessary repairs. Most manufacturers? written warranties offer fantastic parts and labor protection. However, the duration of this coverage under the written warranty is often far too short (e.g. 90 days parts or 1 year parts and labor). Manufacturers strategically limit their liabilities in order to cut down their final cost price and make their products more attractive to the marketplace. Let's face the facts. If you are like most of us, you are not expecting to buy a new Camera , Camcorder or any other major appliance every single year. You want to buy the new product and use it for as many years as it will last. There is only one way for a consumer to be certain that the product you are purchasing will be functioning to factory specifications in say 4 or 5 years from now. This Extended Service Plan offers you the identical high quality protection as the manufacturer?s written warranty did. This plan extends your coverage for up to 5 (five) full years after the manufacturer?s written warranty expires.

New (read, slightly used) Toy!

On a recent roadtrip, I had a mishap with my D40. I kept it on the passenger seat of my truck to keep it handy for any spur of the moment shots I might want to take on the way home from Marion, Indiana. When I got home and pulled up to my driveway, I opened the passenger door to grab my gear and my D40 came tumbling out and hit the driveway lens first. It really sucks to see your lens roll off in one direction while the body bounces off in another. Anyway I brought it back into the house (cursing most of the way) and immediately popped in another lens to see if any damage was done to the camera. Sure enough as soon as I hit the shutter button, the mirror went up and stayed up and the shutter curtain jammed shut. Lucky for me when I sent it to the Nikon Service Center, they covered it under warranty but in the meantime I figured it was time for a backup body. After having a lot of fun with the Holga, I decided that I wanted to pick up a film SLR and for awhile debated whether or not I wanted to shell out $350 for a used Nikon F4 or F5 on Adorama or $25 for a used N8008. I decided on the N8008. I thought it was a cheap enough investment to see if I'm really serious about film. Digital is nice, but I'm really starting to develop a new love for good ol' fashioned film. I got my first roll of Ilford HP5 loaded up and ready to go.

Up until about a year ago I had never owned a digital camera. And then slowly but surely most of the jobs I was doing were starting to request I go digital. They didn't want to pay film expenses anymore. I live in Osaka, but everything in this industry in Japan resides in Tokyo and they want everything fast, fast, fast! So I jumped ship and bought the Nikon D200 the first month it came out.
The other day I was shooting a friends engagement party (not a job) when I got caught in a champange toast. I got the stuff all over my nikon and despite efforts to clean it off, my camera basically died a sticky death the next day. I took it to the nikon service centre and they broke it down to me - 2 weeks and a max of US$850 to fix it.
Now I'm back working with my Mamiya RZ and I can't believe I neglected it for so many months now. The lenses are so beautiful and produce images I just can't get with my nikon. It's got me thinking again just how warped the photo industry has become. If time isn't a factor I'm going back to my Mamiyas and going to pay the film expenses out of my own pocket if I have to. I wonder how long this will last?!?!?!?
This photo is a couple of years old and is of course from my RZ.
