Antique clock

This is a little antique clock I bought at a flea market for $1.00 about 30 years ago ! It's 1.5 inches tall. It has the initials "R.M.M" on the front, on the back is engraved "May 25, 1930". It's solid silver and I haven't cleaned it in years, but when I do it really shines ! It's missing one of the little feet on the side you can see ! Someday I'll bring it to a silversmith and have it fixed !

This is a good project for any age level. A goblet is an object that consists of stacked shapes made separately using three different techniques. The top shape is made by pinching clay into pinch pots. The stem is made by rolling out a slab and then wrapping the slab around a dowel to make a tube. The base is made by gathering and compressing the scraps into a ball and flattening it like a clay cookie. The three pieces are then assembled with slip, which is clay with a thick mud like consistency, to firmly join the pieces together. Once this base structure is together, the fun begins. Students can customize their goblets by adding more clay, slabs and coils to end up with their own unique creation.

A Jetty Amulet For Necklace 2

The name for this piece and the "theme" and form came from my initial experiments with laying the enamel samples against a variety of stones and found iron. The quarter-circular elements are sections of a gigantic washer which came from a jetty in Bournemouth, Dorset: literally a jetty rather than "jet-like", which is how I imagine Joyce intended the line to be taken.

The stones used are blue topaz, labradorite, peridot, kyanite, chrysophrase and turquoise.

PMC Floral Pendant

Slightly larger than a quarter, PMC and assorted CZ stones. Made from a mold of a vintage glass cabochon. Im thinking of enameling the negative spaces to make the flowers stand out better but Im not sure how the stones will react to being heated several times. PMC is a clay that turns into 99.9% pure silver when fired!

Circles Cut Out Silver Lariat Pendant

This unusual and pretty lariat consists of a fine silver donut shaped pendant with small circles cut out combined with a small fine silver disc.

The large pendant measures 3.5cm in diameter and the small disc is 2cm in diameter. The small disc slips perfectly trough the larger pendant and can be hung loose on it's sterling silver chain for a long lariat, or wound through the pendant to create a shorter, choker style. Oh my Goodness today I've been named Silver Clay, Jewellery Maker of the Year by Beads and Beyond Magazine!!!

Their Jewellery Design Competition featured creative work by loads of talented UK designers. Entries were divided into five categories and entry levels were very high. My prize is absolutely HUMONGOUS and worth a staggering ?500!!!

My category was sponsored by silverclay.co.uk and included such things as a fab tumbler, steel shot, texture mats, a wonderful book, silver, bronze and copper clays AND ?125 voucher for even more clay.

On top of all this, my entry will be featured in the magazine and I'll get the opportunity to write two articles for them. I'm absolutely thrilled!

When we were kids, dad had an old silver plated teapot full of coins collected from travels and from when pence became 'New'. Who knows if they have any value, they meant something to him and so their value is priceless to me. Again, as children, if we bumped our heads, granny would soothe the hurt and reduce the swelling with a cold penny pressed to the spot. Who knew if that worked but we got to mostly keep the penny after.
