Dining Room Tables Counter Height : Antique Carved Tables.
Dining Room Tables Counter Height
LR on left is how you have it now (minus the baby play area in the DR space). Sested LR arrangement on right. I couldn't tell how wide your sofa was. You may need to get a smaller one to fit in this scenario.
In an open plan like this areas need to be defined. Area rugs are a great way of doing that.
I would move the play pen and the swing (represented by the "H") to the bowed window. Put your other 5x8 rug near the bowed window. You could then put a low bookshelf or stacked cubes in the bowed window area to hold baby toys. In a house with children, it is always great to have a very specific place for them and all their gear/toys.
The counter height table and chairs are very out of place in the LR. Especially with the wine racks in both the table and the unit by the door. These items are usually associated with dining. Personally I don't think the table and chairs belongs in the entire space. If you really want to keep it then move it to where you have the baby stuff now.
LR Seatting/TV Area:
You need to add an 8x10 area rug to define the LR area. Move the TV to the wall where the sofa is now. You may need to get a different unit to set the TV on. An entertainment center would fit beautifully on this wall. I know it's a pain to move a TV but this is the only scenario I can think of that balances and utilizes the best use of your space other than having a professional set up the TV over the fireplace.
Painting Walls-Cozying up the Space:
I put dining room chairs and table in the dining room where you have the baby stuff now. It would be good to paint both walls with the bowed windows at each end of the room, a dark accent color. This will pull the room in visually and not make it feel so long and narrow. Doing this will make the room feel more cozy and inviting.
Hanging Art and Decor
The way you have the art hung in a straight line horizontally on the walls looks like you are trying to create a 3/4 wall effect through the long room and it accentuates the long narrowness of the space. You need more vertical arrangements on the wall to break up the long long line of your space. Art in any sitting area (dining or LR) should be mounted much lower because they are primarily used for sitting areas not standing areas.
the kitchen looking from the dining room at the mudroom and back door (it is a very small mudroom and it is the same door you can see in the previous picture), there is a bar height table with stools and window just out of sight at the upper right, you can just see the edge of it and one leg. The kitchen floor and mudroom floor are large (real) tiles.
Not large but with plenty of counter space.
No dishwasher, but that's ok.
