This large Victorian family is presided over by the widowed grandmother (Johann Cochrane Ramsay), who ran the Forfar family business of reed and cam making after her husband died. The traditional business died a death with the advent of WW2 when Bob Ramsay revitalised it by moving into ladder manufacturing. The main business premises are still up the "Reedmakars' Close" in West High Street. My maternal grannie, Mary Cochrane Ramsay is at the back, far left.
