    network cards
  • (NETWORK CARD) An expansion card that is installed in an available slot in a computer so that it may connect and communicate to another computer.

  • A network interface card (NIC) is a hardware device that handles an interface to a computer network and allows a network-capable device to access that network. The NIC has a ROM chip that contains a unique number, the media access control (MAC) Address burned into it.

  • (Network Card) The Network Railcard is a discount card introduced in 1986 by British Rail, upon the creation of their Network SouthEast area around London, England.

  • radio: medium for communication

  • having no wires; "a wireless security system"

  • transmission by radio waves

  • Lacking or not requiring wires

  • A standard for connecting computers and their peripherals

  • Peripheral Component Interconnect

  • (Peripheral Connect Interface) an advanced expansion-bus standard for internal peripheral devices, used most commonly by high performance graphics adapters.

  • Conventional PCI (PCI is an initialism formed from Peripheral Component Interconnect, part of the PCI Local Bus standard and often shortened to PCI) is a computer bus for attaching hardware devices in a computer.

I have some .44 Mag hardball ammunition with this card's name on it. I had a 2-day outage at home due to this, which happened to cause two of my WAP's (I provide wireless service for 60-80 of my neighbors, free) to die. This one came out of a VA Linux 1220 server. Luckily, I had a spare 1220, and cannibalized both its ram and its second (the twin to this) nic. I am probably going to take the riser card (the 1220 is 1U) and get a PCI QFE for it or something. I suspect VA linux used some cheap ass hardware in these boxes. At any rate, this one caused me so much hate and discontent, it is going to meet its death on the firing range. I may use a torch on the fragments.

Motherboard, CPU & cooler, 4 hard drives 1/2 the RAM & cooler, card reader, and Blu-Ray/DVD drive, some of the wiring done. Wireless PCI network adaptor, ESATA outlets, boot SSD and misc. needed cables/connectors still to come. i may still make some changes in order to the wiring to insure the cleanest airflow. All those Mom's were right, neatness counts! Here is the neat 'trick' Silverstone has done with this case, they turned the motherboard 90 degrees clockwise. this is to improve cooling and because the video cards hang supported by their attachment to the top of the case there is no extra strain on the cards or the motherboard connectors.
