Nenuphar's rating should be upgraded to "Extremely Collectible"....it is very sought after and commands high prices. The bowls and tines of the serving pieces in this pattern can be exquisitely patterned. The attention to detail and pattern is equally rich on the back of the pieces.

I love and collect this pattern. It, like all the Gorham patterns, has a wonderful weight in the hand.
The date given in several reference books for Royal is 1888, but you will find the patent date on the back is 1887.
