BLACK AND GRAY RUGS

I almost already feel a world away. Friday night and I caught a ride out to the beach suburb of Manly. I spent an hour waiting for D to meet me on a comfy padded beach seat at the outer rim of a trendy bar and grill on the wharf/pier.

Everyone was coming home from work in the city via the ferry at the end of the pier. I drank white wine and listened to the din of the revelers and seagulls. Watched the sailboats and the Sydney-siders unwinding.

D is came over in the ferry with Jimmy and then we had dinner with a friend who is going traveling for 6 wks and needs a cat/house sitter. Jimmy would be perfect for it because aside the fact he is very responsible, he would fully appreciate their apartment overlooking the ocean.

After dinner we went to see their prime real estate but were subjected to at least an hour of cat-related discussion...and a cat photo slideshow. I am not kidding. This is not "so you have to feed them from the blue bin" discussion, it was more of a "well this one time she slid under the rug and it was the funniest thing."

I hope to god I'm not like that to other people with my dog, but it's not as though their cats can fetch you a beer.
