Roger Hickey, a veteran action sports athlete and 20-time downhill World Champion, wanted to advance his street and park riding skills. After attempting to create heavy wood ramps which cost and weigh three times as much and are immobile, Roger invented a simple, affordable, fold up Street Park Kit that rolls into the corner of his garage after each use. Three years of research and countless prototypes resulted in FreshPark's complete line of skate ramp kits for aspiring and dedicated skateboarders.
Used in the interactive villages of top pro skate tours (X Games, AST Dew Tour, Etnies GvR), by recreation departments, community organizations, schools, summer camps, churches. and military bases, Freshpark has established itself as the leading portable ramp brand. Developed by pro skaters, Freshpark’s durable line of weatherproof, foldable ramps are easy to assemble, easy to move, and easy to store.
Raleigh Rampar BMX frame. After consultation with my brother, I'm pretty certain this is the bike that I had — same color, too. (I grabbed this photo off the Web.)
Around the time I was in 6th or 7th grade, the BMX craze was going full-bore and our neighborhood became a hotbed of dirt bike activity. It was a fortuitous alignment of time (the late '70s), age (I was not quite a teen-ager), and place (we had some forested dirt paths at the end of our street — "The Trails" — which were just perfect for dirt biking) — only we didn't have the rigs: Todd and I were still putting around town on our kiddie bikes and Mom and Dad's 3-speeders.
Like an answer to our prayers, one day Mom took us to a shop in Aurora to get Todd a new bike (a chrome Raleigh BMX model), and while there spontaneously decided we'd both be getting bikes. Yes! You have to understand what a big deal this was for us. Those Raleighs were heavy as tanks and not nearly as trick as other bikes in our neighborhood, but they did grant us entree into the culture. We probably spent more time gathered together in semi-circles on our bikes than actually riding — peppering our talk with new-found vocabulary like "Ashtabula", "table-top", and "rad" — but that was what you did. And besides, riding only increased the odds of getting racked, and every boy who's every misjudged a landing knows the abject terror of this self-induced torture all too well.
Funny thing is, I actually don't recall having my bike all that long — I think I sold it to Tommy Wangler — but Todd's remained in our stable of bikes for quite a while.

Chrome Diamond Back,
Not for the purists, this bike is in no way original, It has been built from parts kicking about, with the 'look' rather than pedigree in mind, The chrome has seen better days but it's a smashing looking and riding bike, completely street illegal having only a rear brake, brand new White Walls to set off the Black Mags.
