Day 281 - October 8, 2007
Here is a compilation of images from our turkey cook. After 7 hours and 28 minutes, we began eating at around 3:15am.
One of the better moments of the night: "Is this the asshole or the head?" (We needed to stuff it). We brought up google images to figure it out, and also watched some youtube videos to try and figure out a few of the instructions.
Me holding the fan was at about 2:30am or so, when there was a pretty big release of smoke out of our oven. The dilemma was: it's 2:30am, we can't have the fire alarm go off again! Buttttt we still needed to give the turkey another 45 minutes or so because it was pretty pink. So I brought out the giant fan we have, threw it into bomb-it-all mode, and blared it at the smoke detectors. We elevated the fan to about a 6 foot height and had it going the rest of the night.
Then, when our masterpiece was done, we watched "Halloween" from 1978. It was solid, albeit ridiculous. Horror movies are great, it's funny how convenient things are. I had forgotten how amusing horror writing is (ie. character traits changing half way through the movie to suit the events, characters being way way too paranoid in some points and magically not paranoid at all at other points... not to mention the bad guy's motivation being, "He's mentally numb to the world"... in other words he has no motivation).
Great times. Without a doubt one of the best Waterloo nights thus far.
