Clear Glass Frame

I wanted to create an etched glass sort of look, so I took an old frame and removed the back behind the glass. I used acrylic paint on the stamp and stamped directly onto the front of the glass. After dry, I added the rub ons over the top and pearl and resin accents. The photo and ribbon are adhered from the back. Then after the glass piece was finished, I hot glued the glass around the inside of the frame, so I didn't have to put the backing back on.

1.I can’t cycle; I think I have a poor sense of balance
2.I love milk tea, I need at least a cup a day and can quite possibly survive on it and nothing else for a day or two

The necklace is Vintage - it was my grandmother's as the title says
and because of my grandmother's love for unique costume jewelry -
I've grown to love it over the years myself and prefer it over any type of
valuable jewelry (gold, silver, diamonds,ect )
To me costume jewelry is far more valuable & sentimental
As a little girl I was given a box of some of her jewelry and I still
have many peices but this necklace has always been my favorite of all
I love its herringbone shape & terracotta color

Chris walked in & decided to take over after I shot a few SP's
and so he took more shots of me outside of the shed & near a rusted old car
- I'll upload those later - His skills in taking photos have greatly improved
I sometimes think he should be my second shooter when I start my business - LOL

OK, I'm Impressed...

I've been seeing those ads for Microsoft's Windows Live Photo Gallery, where the kid clicks twice and creates an amazing panoramic photo... So I decided to try it myself -- and I have to admit, it was easy and worked quite well!

No, I'm not coming down with a rare tropical illness. I really did say that Microsquish may have something good here; having used Corel, Picnik and Picasa (plus many others through the years), this free download definitely holds its own.

I simply chose two photos -- one of the base of my former office with a woman walking along the sidewalk for perspective but having the top of the building chopped off and another of the upper 9/10ths of the building that didn't include the bottom and ground -- and told it to create a panoramic photo. It ground for awhile (just a few seconds) and the next thing I know, it's ready to save the result -- no manual positioning or cropping, it is completely automated.

This photo is the raw result of that process. Zooming all the way into view the photo at actual size, the straight lines of the building give away the attachment points; however, a little post-stitch editing (and cropping to trim up the edges) can minimize that to make it hardly noticeable.

This is definitely something that I will have to explore further and would advise that it is worth a look.

I tried to stitch this together using my Olympus supplied software, but it just didn't work - this was done using a free Microsoft download to the Windows Live Photo Gallery app and it looks like it's just about worked perfectly (excepting the quality of the core images, of course!)

I was checking out something on the 24 KL-ites project and suddenly came across a post, which said Steve McCurry will be presenting on June 15th. Steve McCurry!!! Yeah! I know that name. He took that great portrait called "The Afghan Girl". One of the greatest image makers of our time is here, in KL.. How can I not go??

Before starting the engine, I thought it would be a good idea to tell my photog friend Ripi to reserve a seat for me. McCurry will be presenting in Central Market Annex Gallery which is not a difficult place to go at that hour. But I decided to go early. When I finished parking, Ripi replied, "Dude, no seat can be reserved! House Full!!"

Cursing myself, I rushed to the annex gallery. Indeed the house was full. The organizers were refusing entry. Eventually they had some mercy on me and allowed me to seat on the balcony. Lucky for me, it was the right place for shooting as nothing was blocking my view.

McCurry's talk entitled "Celebrating Multiculturalism Through Photography ". Although the title was a no-joke thing, McCurry presented himself as a very informal speaker and encouraged the audience to shoot him with whatever came to their minds.

He presented a series of photos taken in the last 30 years and revealed the story behind. He expressed his deep affection for South and Southeast Asia. He has been to India roughly 85 times so far and frequently visited the rest of the South Asian countries.

McCurry took most of his shots in Kodachrome 64. He was reluctant to switch to digital. Eventually, 2 years back, he did as he found out digital can stop action even in very low light. He used to carry 5 lenses, but now-a-days he prefers his 24-70mm zoom. It is said that he used a tripod almost always.

When asked about the problems of street photography, McCurry recalled the incident in Delhi where he had to surrender his film to a angry mob.

Before closing, the great image maker retold the story of Sharbat Gula, the famous Afghan Girl.

I was planning to bring a NatGeo to get autographed but decided not to at the last minute. At the end, I found all the guest rushing toward McCurry, each with a copy of NatGeo. I felt like slapping myself. What an idiot I am!!!!

In the Studio

Scan of a big project (5 months) in Art Academy.

To start with I had to doodle shapes. Find shapes that were "me". Shapes I felt comfortable with. Hundreds of shapes were sketched in my dummy. After that I had to pick the best shapes. With these shapes I had to work. Make more shapes based on those. From these shapes there was an other selection made to choose the best collection. Now I had to refine those shapes and make a final series using black ink or marker. Finally from that collection the best shapes were chosen.

I had to cut these shapes out of black cardboard. Now the worst part of the project started. I had to put these shapes on a copy machine and make compositions with them. Dozens and dozens of copies on A3 size. Again, more selections..... Keep the best.....

Finally we had to make life-size shapes out of thick cardboard and paint them black. With these shapes we had to make 3 photo sessions.
1) Make compositions on the outside wall of the academy (huge white wall of a building designed by the famous Rietveld)
2) Inside a white studio
3) On location (which, thank goodness, we could pick ourselves).

I made the photo's in a forest near the village where I lived.It was winter and freezing.
The photo's (again, lots, and lots of shots) had to go through a selection. The best I had to make large sized versions in the dark room in school.

Finally I had to paste the photo's on huge pieces of paper and hang them next to the A3 sized copies in the studio.
After that there was nothing else to do then to hope for a good comment from the teacher.

Aaaaah, those were the days...

Hi all,

Today I have decided to do something different. About a week ago, I did a photo-shoot with my friend Keith Robinson of the Emerge Experience.

The lighting was not very good. It was snowing and cloudy outside. His skin had alot of red blotches due to the freezing weather.

I decided that I needed to learn how to retouch properly. I used some techniques that I found online and am very pleased with the results.
