- Noise reduction is the process of removing noise from a signal. Noise reduction techniques are conceptually very similar regardless of the signal being processed, however a priori knowledge of the characteristics of an expected signal can mean the implementations of these techniques vary greatly

Noiseware Pro Photoshop plug-in settings:

Detail Protection: Luminance = 15

The above filter was run TWICE for this image.
I did not make any manual adjustments in Detail Protection (NO: Frequency, Tonal Range, nor Color Range adjustments!).
JPEG level was set to highest (12) for save.
This is why I think Noiseware is THE BEST noise reduction software available. Anybody think the D80 or D200 isn't usable at ISO 800 or 1250?
I don't usually like this kind of filter use but this I think worked here? I think it worked because of all of the detail in the owl. I don't think it would have looked right on a simple subject. I like the original photo the best, this owl was just beautiful, but since the assignment was filter use, I went with it. I used the unsharp filter mask, then used the plaster filter and then reduced noise. Then I cropped to size.
