Black & Decker The Complete Guide to Windows & Entryways: Repair - Renew - Replace (Black & Decker Complete Guide) Your passageway to efficiency and beauty Both for practicality and curb appeal, windows and doors are the most crucial mechanical feature of any home, and this book helps homeowners preserve and improve these essential elements. The new version also features an expanded section on door and window hardware, as the types, styles and finishes change frequently. Also new in this edition: an expanded the section on installing and maintaining garage doors; a complete start-to-finish project for enlarging a basement window opening and installing an egress window; a quick and easy technique for giving your fiberglass door the appearance of woodgrain; and much, much more. You'll find no better single book that better covers the ever-changing topic of choosing, installing and maintaining doors and windows. (5) Department Store Entryway Take 2 This entryway was nearly identical in form to the Peskin's building I found in Cumberland, MD. This being WV, if I had to guess, I would place my bets that this was once a O.J. Morrison's Store. Definitely a department store. O. J. Morrison's was widespread and had branches across the state, and in every major WV town. Uhh.. I'm not positive. Somewhere I have a picture of olde Huntington that shows the Morrison's so I'll have to see if it was in this area. Too bad the terazzo wasn't decorated. Apparently one half of it now is some sort of dance club, actually called Envy which must be a chain in the state, because there's one in Motown, too. Ugh, the humanity. The other half is apparently empty. Benjamin Moore 'Van Deusen Blue': Elegant, colorful farmhouse by Jeffrey Bilhuber For the entrance hall of a Pennsylvania farmhouse, designer Jeffrey Bilhuber chose a regal blue (Benjamin Moore's Van Deusen Blue), which he based on a color he had seen at Mount Vernon. A 1920s settee is covered in Le Gracieux’s hand-blocked 'Kirachi' damask. Photo by Julian Wass, House Beautiful. decorating an entryway Make a fresh impression: create a whole new look for entryways, doorways, and halls with this hardworking style guide that helps the reader update the often neglected space in the home--the entryway. Featuring hundreds of photos, here is the inside track on how to redecorate your hall, foyer, or doorway to reflect your personal style with modern ease. Or start from scratch for a fresh, new look. This book looks at entryways as rooms and offers the style secrets and how-to-get-the-look design advise you need to create a memorable entryway to your home. They say that our first impressions are the most important ones, and it may well be that this is true for places as well as people. First Impressions is all about that most important moment, and it's aimed at helping your home instantly convey the loves and lives of its inhabitants. Designed to appeal to every style, you'll find photos of formal antiques and leaded glass right next to shots of bright yellow walls and cheerful daisies. While the photos are inspirational, the text is down to earth and addresses the practical concerns of these heavily trafficked areas. While furniture can be a pleasant addition, author Anna Kasabian reminds you to never impede the flow; "nothing is so attractive that you will want to detour around it many times a day." Even with a few common-sense restrictions, her solutions of unique floor coverings and creative use of available space will provide fresh new spaces that are both easily navigated and welcoming to lingerers. If your space accommodates a small table or sitting area, Kasabian encourages you to use it, even for tea and crossword puzzles. Lighting, wall and floor treatments, architectural points, and overall style all come under scrutiny, and she suggests you include personal collections or memorabilia for a truly personal statement. You make a point of standing up straight and smiling when you're introduced to someone. Shouldn't you make sure your home does the same? --Jill Lightner See also: kids decorating home decor santos xmas outdoor decor harley davidson party decorations southwestern decor butterfly room decor decorating for bathrooms wall color decor gothic home decor diy room decor |
