Trowbridges has been in the heart of downtown Florence since 1918 -- Papaw and Granny used to go on dates there. Granny said she always got pineapple-orange ice cream.

Last night, while in the middle of downtown, I decided to snap a couple of pictures of the inside of the store. In the daytime, from open until close, it's literally so packed the waitresses can barely walk around.

This shot is my favorite -- I love the way the inside fades into the overlapping reflection of the sidewalk.

I wear loose trousers or Afgani salwars I hate tight clothes , and if I was a Naga Sadhu I would go nude but I am not.. so I adhere to my dress code of my comfort and choice , I dont wear shirts , I wear cheap cotton body fits , I mostly wear black..

Move along, nothin' to see here.
Just a quick crappy throw together born out of wanting to make a larger version of the shortfin, and as a test to see how well the Jormund's general layout could be applied to other things.
I think it looks good, but I feel kinda cheap since it was basically just a smash together of two of my other creations.
That being said the whole lower receiver area just didn't want to work out right, so I just settled for what looked the best out of my tries.
So yeah... not really feeling like I did my best with this one, but I still like it for some reason.
Anyways, hopefully more inspired builds to be coming soon.

The Ferret armoured car, also commonly called the Ferret Scout car, is a British armoured fighting vehicle designed and built for reconnaissance purposes. The Ferret was produced between 1952 and 1971 by the UK company, Daimler. It was widely adopted by regiments in the British Army as well as Commonwealth countries throughout the period.

The Ferret was developed in 1949 as a result of the British Army's need to obtain a replacement model for its Second World War light armoured vehicles. Due to the success of their Reconnaissance Scout Car, the "Dingo", Daimler was employed to design and manufacture the Ferret.

The Ferret shared many similar design features with the Dingo, but featured a larger fighting compartment and an optional small machine gun turret. It was built from an all-welded monocoque steel body, making the drive extremely noisy as all the running gear was within the enclosed body with the crew. Four wheel drive was incorporated together with "Run Flat" tyres. The turret, though not fitted to all models, carried a single machine gun. It is fast and small enough to be used in an urban environment but strong enough to negotiate rugged terrain off road. The Ferret is no longer in service in the British Army, although several Commonwealth countries still operate them to this day. Salidin Armoured Car

The Saladin (FV601) was a six-wheeled armoured car built by Alvis and used by the British Army. It replaced the AEC Armoured Car that had been in use during World War II.

The Saladin was the armoured car of Alvis' FV600 series, using similar suspension and drivetrain components to the Saracen armoured personnel carrier, Stalwart High Mobility Load Carrier and Salamander fire tender. It is named after the warrior Saladin, Alvis using names beginning with an "S" for the whole range of FV600 vehicles.

Another example of Apples lack of quality control.

I Recommended the macbook to a couple of people, this crackbook belongs to my mother. Both macbooks have cracks. My mums crackbook also has the potentially faulty hard drive from Seagate (lots of reports that a certain model is prone to catastrophic failures).

Every mac laptop I've owned has had some fault or failure. The most reliable was the 366 ibook SE, which lasted three years before needing a new keyboard and a logic board (the case was also cracked around the apple detail under the screen). The Powerbook G4s being the worst (hard drive failures, RAM slots failing, Logic board failure, dangerous batteries needing replacement, faulty power leads, USB ports that didn't power external mobile hard drives).

I've got a Macbook at the moment and it'll be the last Apple I own if it fails. Although I can recommend their operating system, in all good faith I can't recommend their hardware again. It's too embarrassing. I'm not going to defend Apple again, I'm sick and tired of trying to make excuses.

I told my mum to book an appointment with a genius bar at a local Apple Retail shop. She got it fixed on the spot for free, and this was 6 months outside the standard one year warranty. I would say this was great service, but I think it was the least they could do. Microsoft offer free three year warranties with their Xbox 360s, it's time Apple did the same.

I'd bought my mum a replacement top case, incase Apple were going to be dicks. Looking at the design it came as no surprise its cracks to much, really poor design. But hey, they look great before they start falling apart!

A minibus arrived as the railway replacement service from Puigcerda to Latour de Carol. About 10 people with excessive amounts of luggage and one guy with a bike were supposed to ram themselves inside. A Toulousian knew we were late and that the French train would not wait for us, so he told us to hurry. We crammed our luggage inside and left the British cyclist stranded there, for at least 2 hours until the next train. "Mixel" was a decent driver, although he didn't know the way, but he drove heroically and we managed to reach Latour de Carol in time.

This is the BEST tool in the world! It takes longer to put together than it does to break the bead while changing tires. I highly recommend this, unless you own a KTM. Apparently KTM rims are a bit special, and it takes special tools to break their beads.

I finally got caught up with both my 2006 and 2007 taxes.
You wouldn't believe how many forms I had to fill out and how much prep time was involved. more than 60 hours just on my 2007 taxes. 2006 was almost double that when you add time spent last year on extensions, calling people who didn't send me forms, etc.

It was, in a word, shitty. Very much so.

Aside from having a primary job, I contracted on a W-2 basis, on a 1099-MISC basis, and as a sole proprietor business. We bought a house in 2006 and rented rooms, which counts as another business. Each business/job had expenses, income, material depreciation, and thankfully no inventory. I had to factor in miles / expenses on ALL vehicles for ALL purposes. It really blew. A lot.

In 2007, this was the same situation, except we had to claim loss on rental income due to damages and people who didn't pay. Also, we had a child in 2007 which meant more stuff. Thankfully, I knew better how to prepare for 2007 having recently finished 2006, so it was a lot faster.

2008 should be "in the bag" now that I'm better at keeping things in order.

Total expenses on tax preparation after I got my shit in order:
2006: $350
2007: $220
(not counting certified / return receipt requested mailings for filing)

But I did get things done in time, pulling at least three all-nighters to get the numbers ready for the tax people and my appointments with them, which were hard to get. Apparently a lot of people want to file on time this year to get that rebate (stimulus package or what not). I didn't care so much about that, but just getting them done! :P

Anyway, I had put this off so long, it had been bothering the hell out of me for so long... when I finally got things filed by the 14th, my Mom made me a cake to celebrate!

(Unfortunately I was so tired I fell asleep on their couch until almost 11pm and we didn't get to eat it until late. :P )

A morning at Robinson's

What is probably the only reason to enter ERP-laden Orchard Road: The Robinson's Sale. Especially if your mom has the credit card that gives an additional 5% rebate.

But the ratio of grownups to one Isaac must be at least 3:1. It took Mom, the wife and me taking turns to watch him this morning so that we could get our shopping done.

Decent bargains aside, what made the trip so enjoyable was the excellent customer service shown by the staff there, both young and old. From the Braun Buffel salesgirl to the young salesman at the John Harold business pants racks and another guy at Erstklassic (the German shoe brand we love but don't know how to pronounce) and Ecco men's shoes department, all of them displayed product knowledge, cheerful patience and earnest service.

The shoe guy even gave Isaac a sweet, and did not blink or frown when Isaac grabbed some cans of liquid shoe polish and mixed up the colour-coded caps.

"Don't worry, I'll sort it out," he said with a smile.

Mom had to take Isaac out of the store so that we could shop in peace. But when they were at the corridor looking at the cheerful festive decorations, he proudly showed her a wallet in his tiny hand. Her first thought was, oh no, whose wallet is that?! Then she realised it was a new one, and rushed back into the store to return Isaac's "loot".
We entered Orchard at 10.30am to avoid the ERP charges. By the time we left, it was 1pm and we had to pay toll charges to leave Orchard Road. But despite this ERP unpleasantness, the good experience at Robinson's more than made up for it and we happily lugged home our shoppin bags of stuff, and a very tired little boy.

Sipil has continued on their crusade of being a great car company, which they have been succeeding at since then. They have mostly been hitting the motorsport world, with cars like the Cahaya. Now some of the more dreary cars are being remade. The Sipil Perubahan was just a chassis and nameplate, and came in forms varying from a dull hatchback to a dull truck. The thing was so basic, not featuring much luxury of sportiness. This left plenty of room for modifications. This will be shown sometime in summer of 2211, when the Perubahan STI speeds along. This one is a sport saloon made to compete with it's rivals at Yamato. Differences from the standard Perubahan Sedan is the lowered suspension, a spoiler, roll-cage, semi-slick tires, and a more powerful engine. The original engine was a transversely mounted 150 HP I3, mounted in the front. Now, the engine is still in the front, but it's a longitudinally mounted turbocharged I4, producing 400 HP. This results in a top speed of 180, a great feat for a big sedan like this. The STI will be sold at a price rumored to be $45,000.

The Sipil Cahaya(Indonesian for "light') was one of the strangest supercars of it's time. While other cars promise luxury like leather seat, cruise control, and a radio, the Cahaya doesn't even have many basic body panels. It utilized extreme light weight with a small but powerful engine, making it good enough to take on some of the world's best supercars. Then came the Cahaya 600. It was the same as the standard Cahaya, only with a much more powerful V8. But now, even that isn't enough. Silverstone is a rather large performance parts manufacturer in England, sometimes releasing tuned versions of cars. The newest one being the Cahaya. The Silverstone edition of the Cahaya features a new turbocharged I4 producing 470 BHP, along with new suspension, breaks, and Tires to improve handling. The top speed total is 240+ MPH. The Silverstone edition is the most exclusive of the Cahayas, with 15 being made ever.

"Vehicle Tombstone"

While driving to work I was stopped behind a vehicle that had one of those "In Loving memory of...." labels posted in their back window. I know you’ve seen them. They’re all over the place. This time I decided to capture a picture of it.

This kind of public display makes me ask the questions;
“What void does essentially driving around in a mobile tombstone do for you?”
“Why must you thrust the memory of this deceased person into the faces of people who have no idea who this person was and probably don’t really care who they were?”
“Why lessen the memory of this loved one?”

Unless the deceased built the car from scratch or died in the car or the car killed the person, then I really don’t care about the vehicle that is blocking me from moving forward or parked in a spot that I have to walk past as I continue on my with my day.

And if you still feel the need to continue to drive around in a vehicle that was the cause of death of such a beloved person; that you must not only label the vehicle with their life dates, but also share it with the world…well, then you really need to evaluate your motivations.

Make a shrine at home and share it with those who knew the person and can remember their memory with you in a more suitable, private and respectful manner.

1950 Ford Convertible Customized in 1957

Back in 1957 this 1950 Ford received all the custom cool tricks of the day at a cost of $700.00 a big amount at that time. Rounded hood corners, fully shaved of all ornaments and handles, frenched 52 Mercury headlight doors, frenched 52 Meteor taillamps, moulded 1950 Meteor grille shell, bumperettes removed and rear bumper license bracket added, moon hubcaps, dummy spots and a California rake stance with dual exhaust. I purchased this car from a local car dealer at after it was traded in with damage to the left front corner. That's when I learned that after moulding on a replacement Merc headlight door that you needed to reverse the headlight pot so you could change the seal beams from behind after removing the front tire. A replacement flathead to rid it of an oil smoker and a bright red refinish it was a great ride during the summer of '61.
