Kilbarchan Weavers' cottage
This typical 18th century handloom weaver's cottage houses the last of the 800 looms working in this village in the 1830s. Most Fridays and weekends, the clack, clack of a weaver at work brings this cottage to life again. Locally woven shawls cover the box beds. There is an important display of looms, weaving equipment, domestic utensils, local historical and weaving items. Portraits of former spinners and weavers look at home in the midst of their tools of trade.

Candle makers worked for a family called Barbour, In 1739 the Barbours branched out into linen bleaching, for which the pure water of the village stream was well suited, Then came silks and lawns, tartans, and fine cotton fabrics, and Kilbarchan was on the way to fortune.
By 1794 there were 383 looms in the village. But the good days had temporarily come to an end, and business was 'in a languid state', The Brydens' cottage was sold to a family called Brodie, and again to William Christie, whose descendants were to live and work their looms here for nearly 140 years.
MASH tents on Pentagon lawn 9/11
After shooting the burning building I turned my attention to all of the emergency personnel and equipment that was standing by. I literally cried when I realized that, despite the amount of help on hand, there would be no more survivors coming out at this point. If you survived this, you probably got out in the first 15 minutes. Beyond that the smoke and fire would have already gotten to you as it continued to spread and the building collapsed.
