A filter that attenuates signals both below and above the desired passband.

A band-pass filter is a device that passes frequencies within a certain range and rejects (attenuates) frequencies outside that range. An example of an analogue electronic band-pass filter is an RLC circuit (a resistor–inductor–capacitor circuit).

Backup Circuit

What this circuit does is automatically press the Power Button on my Composite to VGA converter twice: Once when I change into reverse, and a second time when I go back into drive. This changes my LCD monitor over to the rear-view camera (Composite), and then back over to my CarPC (VGA) automatically.

The circuit is basically two very simple Resistor/Capacitor (RC) timers.
Each circuit works on the property that as the charge in a capacitor increases the DC resistance and current decreases.

This circuit is simple and the components don't have to be exact. It is cheap, simple to build, and doesn't require any regulators or integrated circuits.
I do not have values filled in, as I usually just experiment with values until I find some that work well.
But, the larger the capacitor the longer it takes to charge and the longer the pulse output. Since the switch on my VGA converter is momentary, only a brief pulse is needed. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 150uF capacitors, and 1K resistors. The drain resistors can be very small, 100ohms or so.

Circuit design: I choose not to use any complicated microprocessors or timers in the circuit for a few reasons: This circuit is super easy to build, has minimal parts that may fail, and doesn't require a PCB. The circuit is designed as two self-reseting timers. Each timer sends out a single pulse to activate the power switch on the VGA converter.

Initial Circuit operation:
When the circuit is first installed, +12v Battery charges up the C1 capacitor, though R1.
Once C1 charges up fully the current across it will drop to nearly zero and it will remain trickle charged by the car battery. Unless your capacitor is defective there is no risk of draining your car battery using this technique.

Normal operation:
When you change the car into reverse, power is sent to the Reverse lights on your car.
This voltage will do two things when it passes into the circuit: First, it will energize both relays. This will discharge circuit C1 through R3, effectively resetting this part of the circuit.

The second process is that C2 will begin to charge up through R2 and RLY2.

This will makes RLY3 close until C2 is fully charged. This effectively presses the button on the VGA converter, switching it over to the rear view camera signal. Once C2 is fully charged RLY3 will reset back to a open position.

When you switch from Reverse back into Drive, C1 will begin to charge up again. This trips RLY3 a second time, switching the convector back over to the VGA signal.

Once there is no longer power from +12v Reverse Lights: C2 will discharge though R4. This will reset this part of the circuit and things can start over the next time you switch into reverse.

Sorry for the overly detailed explanation but it may help some users.

Currently my only problem is that my car briefly flashes the reverse lights when you move the shifter from Park through Reverse to Drive.
The VGA converter is not fast enough to switch on and off this quickly, so it often gets stuck in Reverse camera mode.

I am trying to figure out a good way around this.

Ciro Bianchi (Rein) muttered, his voice muffled by both air filter and then skimask, though the throat mic picked it up clearly.

Archer Braun hunkers down, hiking up his tool belt and reaching for his set of keys. He twists the lock, popping open the access panel and stares inside at the ruin of smoking components. "Fuck," he grumbles, reaching for a pair of wire cutters and hunching over even further.

Leigh Parx (Kayleigh Jigsaw) blinked slightly and shifted her gaze in the direction of River's name. An eyebrow rose slightly as she shifted her attention slightly more focused on concern for a certain rugrat than any issue the marines might cause.

Tristaniel McMinnar glances back to the two behind him, then back inside. He stares coldly at Dmi before, with a tilt of his head, he signals to the others to move on.

Dmitry Luminos also reacts with a bit of surprise at Nerio's remark, and is about to say something probably disagreeable, before he notices the Marines start to move. He lowers himself slightly, hands sweating, but then sighs and stands up fully as the UAC troops move onwards. His right hand moves away from his pistol grip. "River's -got- people taking care of him," he says. "People who don't hurt him."

Nerio Yoshikawa sat there calmly, since his brother couldn't care for him anymore, he fell under the care of the Yakuza by request. He stares at the little girl now, not liking hearing that there were people trying to hurt her, his hand reaching to his jacket to pull out his PDA again, he taps away at it, idly, noting Dmitry saying he had business with the pussy Hounds. He'd snort to that if he cared any. At Dmitry's outburst...it's simply ignored....for now*

Archer Braun's hands are busy, he pulls smouldering circult boards from the panel with insulate pliers and drops them on the pavement. Finishing that, he reaches behind him for fresh components and slots them in the panel. Flicking at a switch with his thumb, he grunts in satisfaction as, one-by-one, the boards light up green...and the distant sound of air conditioning units kick on from above. Shaking his head, he closes the access panel and locks it, picking up the rubbish and staring at it a moment before moving down the alley.

Jaina Lefevre isn't moving until she's told the coast is clear. She glances up at Dmi. "River's my friend. He sleeps at my house sometimes." She is trembling against Niyol for all that she's doing her best to continue with a conversation. Enpeesee moves to the doorway to watch a bit longer.

Leigh Parx (Kayleigh Jigsaw) narrowed her eyes very slightly as she nodded to Nick and pulled some credits from her pocket to pay him for the food now. She looked at the plate he set in front of her and settled to eating. The actions were more mechanical than seeming to be something she actually wanted to be doing right now. She kept her ears and eyes open, though. Finding a job later today would be her highest priority from the sounds of it.

Dmitry Luminos nods. "That's good," he replies. "Your moms are pretty cool." To Niyol he turns, crossing his arms and waiting to see if he'll be allowed to come along.

Niyol Clawtooth: He looks up to his Pa. "Pa can i run along and hang for a bit with some of my friends?" He smiles. He gives Jaina a small squeeze. "Its okay, they look like they're gone now."

Jaina Lefevre turns and looks, then lets out a breath. "Cool. Thanks." She scrubs at her face and looks up at Dmi and Niyol. "I can show you the hideout if ya want."

Nerio Yoshikawa looked over at Dmitry as he mentioned friends. Every parent knew a 'friend' their kid had that they hated. He stood and started to move towards Dmitry before he stopped. Damn he wanted to slice the little bastard up. The look on his face would be that very look too, like he really wanted to gut the boy, "Sure..have fun with your friends, son" *His face hardened as he spoke, voice going to a very omenous tone as if there was a bit more in that sentence than what he actually said*

Leigh Parx (Kayleigh Jigsaw) continued to eat. She kept an eye on the group across the way from the corner of her eye, but for the most part she seemed utterly intent on eating the food that had been placed before her.

Jaina Lefevre watches Nerio's face change yet again. It was like watching clouds skitter across the sky on a day that can't decide if it's sunny or hurricane weather. She swallows audibly and chokes a little as she asks. "Mister Nerio? Is it okay if'n I hang out with Niyol? You won't get mad at me, huh?"

Got into Mrs Macquarie's Point at the Sydney Botanical Gardens really late and there weren't any nice spots left looking over the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Thus didn't bother taking those wide vista shots. Instead toyed around with bokeh effects on these fireworks.
Using a combination of 100mm macro lens or the nifty fifty, the fireworks were shot at large apertures for random durations. during the exposure, the focus ring is twisted in different combinations to get various effects for the fireworks.
A variable filter is used to darken or lighten the exposure during the shot is recommended for best instant control.

Green, orange and red fireworks are relatively bright and needs more ND stops.
Blue, purple, ones are relatively dim and less ND stops needed.

The Design of Active Crossovers is a unique guide to the design of high-quality circuitry for splitting audio frequencies into separate bands and directing them to different loudspeaker drive units specifically designed for handling their own range of frequencies. Traditionally this has been done by using passive crossover units built into the loudspeaker boxes; this is the simplest solution, but it is also a bundle of compromises. The division of the audio into bands is performed at low signal levels, before the power amplifiers, where it can be done with much greater precision. Very sophisticated filtering and response-shaping networks can be built at comparatively low cost. Time-delay networks that compensate for phyical misalignments in speaker construction can be implemented easily; the equivalent in a passive crossover is impractical because of the large cost and the heavy signal losses. Active crossover technology is also directly applicable to other band-splitting signal-processing devices such as multi-band compressors.
The use of active crossovers is increasing. They are used by almost every sound reinforcement system, by almost every recording studio monitoring set-up, and to a small but growing extent in domestic hifi. There is a growing acceptance in the hifi industry that multi-amplification using active crossovers is the obvious next step (and possibly the last big one) to getting the best possible sound. There is also a large usage of active crossovers in car audio, with the emphasis on routing the bass to enormous low-frequency loudspeakers.
One of the very few drawbacks to using the active crossover approach is that it requires more power amplifiers; these have often been built into the loudspeaker, along with the crossover, and this deprives the customer of the chance to choose their own amplifier, leading to resistance to the whole active crossover philosophy. A comprehensive proposal for solving this problem is an important part of this book.
The design of active crossovers is closely linked with that of the loudspeakers they drive. A chapter gives a concise but complete account of all the loudspeaker design issues that affect the associated active crossover.
This book is packed full of valuable information, with virtually every page revealing nuggets of specialized knowledge never before published. Essential points of theory bearing on practical performance are lucidly and thoroughly explained, with the mathematics kept to an essential minimum. Basilica of the Agony 2241

The Sanctuary of Gethsemane
Gethsemane from GAT + SHEMANIM, means "(Olive) Oil Press". It is the name of a natural grotto next to the "Tomb of Mary" and her Assumption. Jesus often visited the grotto and it was here that He was betrayed and arrested. In time, however, the entire area at the foot of the Mt. of Olives was called GETHSEMANE.
The Garden of Olives - Located above and to the right of the Grotto of Gethsemane (to the left of the Basilica, facing the facade) and enclosed by a fence. Here there are eight olive trees held by tradition to be the silent witnesses of Jesus' prayer and suffering the evening before His crucifixion.
The Basilica of the Agony was built to recall how Jesus agonized over us to the point of sweating blood (Luke 22:44). This is the third basilica built on this site:
The Bizantine [sic] Basilica. Constructed in the time of Theodosius (AD 380), it had, at the center of the apse, the "Rock of the Agony" which is still conserved. It was smaller than the present basilica, had a beautiful mosaic floor, and was destroyed in AD 614.
The Crusader Basilica was erected in the 12th century. Remains are still visible to the south (left) of the present church. It was destroyed around AD 1200.
The New Basilica. Begun in 1919 after the design of the Biyzantine [sic] Basilica and planned by architect Antonio Barluzzi, it was completed in 1924. Natural light filtered by alabaster windows creates a climate of prayer and invites one to prostrate oneself before the "Rock of the Agony" which has been conserved directly in front of the altar. This basilica is also called "The Church of All Nations" because of the contributions offered by different nations for the mosaics of the apses and cupolas, in order they are:

The Arches & the Pillars - HDR

Trust you all must be quite sick of my St Peter Cathedral shots by now haha! Hopefully this will be the final one in my series for now. This photo is shot at the side of the cathedral with great emphasis on the pillars and the well defined arches. I intentionally took this photo with a crazy angle in mind. This shot is taken on my tripod tilted about 60 degree to the ground. Its toppling down with the weight of my cam on it but i was pressing it hard to the floor while kneeling down. I bet people must be thinking how lovely is this guy... praying at one corner while still taking this shot. LOL! :P

I've been meaning to take one of these shots for awhile, and seeing as how I had to take a camera shot for Scavenge Challenge #2 - Get Your Camera in the Picture and that today's Dailyshoot #ds576 was "Make a photograph from a high point of view. Get on top of a building, use a ladder, or just look down at a small object.", it seemed like a good time.

20-NO MORE DUST!

One of my biggest issues with the Antec 900 is that it is very similar to an air purifier. With three 120mm fans sucking air in, the dust and dog hair love to cake my front vents and fill my case.

Rather than abuse my awesome airflow rate, I wanted to filter the computer, yet not hinder airflow in any way. A 16"x16" furnace filter did the trick.

Then using plexi-glass on the inside, coupled with a mirror at the right angle means I don't loose the awesome look of the triple 120mm blue light fans that I so love!

Laying Conduit

To clean the filter, you need to backwash the pool. This sends 100s of gallons of water out a three-inch pipe that used to flood the back area along the fence. Since they were laying this concrete slab, we asked them to install a four-inch pipe that would take the water from the pump to another part of our yard, under the concrete. The other piece of conduit is in case we want to run electrical to the other side of the patio from the pool house.

Pool was looking a little green at this point. I think we had just opened it up and started the process of loading it up with chemicals and running it through the filter. Plus, all the stone dust and other stuff that got in the pool didn't help much.

Sisal factory

Sisal (Agave sisalana) is an agave that yields a stiff fibre traditionally used in making twine, ropeand also dartboards. The term may refer either to the plant or the fibre, depending on context. It is sometimes incorrectly referred to as sisal hemp because hemp was for centuries a major source for fibre, so other fibres were sometimes named after it.

Sisal plants consist of a rosette of sword-shaped leaves about 1.5 to 2 metres tall. Young leaves may have a few minute teeth along their margins, but lose them as they mature. Sisals are sterile hybrids of uncertain origin; although shipped from the port of Sisal in Yucatan (thus the name), they do not actually grow in Yucatan, the plantations there cultivate henequen (Agave fourcroydes) instead. Evidence of an indigenous cottage industry in Chiapas suggests it as the original location, possibly as a cross of Agave angustifolia and Agave kewensis.

Extracting the fibre
Fibre is extracted by a process known as decortication, where leaves are crushed and beaten by a rotating wheel set with blunt knives, so that only fibres remain. In East Africa, where production is typically on large estates, the leaves are transported to a central decortication plant, where water is used to wash away the waste parts of the leaf. The fibre is then dried, brushed and baled for export. Superior quality sisal is found in East Africa, once washed and decorticated. Proper drying is important as fibre quality depends largely on moisture content. Artificial drying has been found to result in generally better grades of fibre than sun drying, but is not feasible in the developing countries where sisal is produced.

Traditionally, sisal has been the leading material for agricultural twine (binder twine and baler twine) because of its strength, durability, ability to stretch, affinity for certain dyestuffs, and resistance to deterioration in saltwater,[7] but the importance of this traditional use is diminishing with competition from polypropylene and the development of other haymaking techniques, while new higher-valued sisal products have been developed.[2] Apart from ropes, twines, and general cordage, sisal is used in low-cost and specialty paper, dartboards, buffing cloth, filters, geotextiles, mattresses, carpets, handicrafts, wire rope cores, and Macrame.[2] In recent years sisal has been utilized as an environmentally friendly strengthening agent to replace asbestos and fibreglass in composite materials in various uses including the automobile industry
