Day 9: Squint

Day 9: Squint

Pretty normal and boring day today. I didn't do anything fantastic, though I guess you could say I was somewhat productive, though others would just say that I sat on my butt for a majority of it.

I woke up, and had my usual cereal, and the unfortunate happened.

Half way through pouring my usual and delicious almond milk into the bowl, I ran out. And so I had to use normal milk for the rest of it, which was slightly dissapointing.

I don't mind normal milk at all, it's just in the end I prefer the almond variety, for it is more healthy and isn't cow juice... I'm vegetarian, not vegan, but if I can avoid certain things ( like milk) then I usually will. And the only time I eat eggs is when it's required for large baking dishes or recipes, but not on it's own.

So yes, then I took my normal everday jog (I'm proud, I haven't been skipping lately), and started my special wednesday ritual.

Every Wednesday (or so I have been doing for the past 4 weeks), I like to treat my hair to a hair mask!

About 2 or 3 weeks ago I officially decided to regrow my hair out (I tried about 5 months ago but failed and ended up cutting it short again), and so I'm doing everything I can to keep my hair healthy and happy like a giggling baby.

Even though It (and I) look pretty stupid here, It's all part of the process to a greater future (for my hair.) (I just pulled an Al Gore).

In case you're curious my hair mask consists of:

1) pouring 1/4 cup of honey in a bowl
2) heating said bowl for about 30 seconds or till it's runny.

3) pour in 1/4 cup olive oil, and let the mixture cool till it's cool enough to handle, but still pretty warm.
4) lather mixture onto my head (do this over a sink) thouroughly.

5) Wrap my head in plastic, then warm up a towl and wrap it on my head.
6) laze around for about a half hour then take a shower rinsing my hair with shampoo.

And that's what I do every wednesday! Here you can see my hair has a slight wave ( I used to straighten it everyday but about 6 or 7 months ago I decided to stop because I wanted healthier hair), and when it's longer some of the waves turn into pretty n loose ringlets, and I miss that...

After all that I took out my magical chair, sat it on my lawn as you see here, and took some quick snapshots, then started making a dent in my summer homework by reading some more Huckleberry Finn.

I have about 60 pages left, so I'll probably finish today ( I hope), but so far I'm really enjoying it. Very adventurous book I must say.

I also finished up the rest of my blueberry buckle I made, which I'm happy about because it is no longer there to tempt me.

Last night I snuck out a pair of my mom's knitting needles and some yarn, sat myself in front of my computer looking up knittiing tutorials on youtube.

I can now cast on the yarn to the needle, but basically failing to start my first row after that...

I really want to make some cute red and herringbone knee high socks, and so I decided knitting would be the best way to do it. I'm going to bug my mom tonight to teach me.

So that's all, good day!

Oh and I usually have tae kwon do tonight, but it's canceled because they are fixing the roof.. oh well.

Four months.

Four months.

Dear George,

You just keep growing. What's up with that? You are allowed to grow until you can sit up and belly laugh, but we need to hit the pause button there.

Although I think you may be just about to start belly laughing. When your daddy kisses your neck with his prickly goatee, you laugh and squeal and laugh some more. It's the hardest you ever laugh, and we just love it.

Your favorite things are chewing on your hands, staring at your right hand, being lifted in the air, and the sound of your own voice. The blurry little legs in this photo reveal your love of kicking kicking kicking. You also, unfortunately, love the television, so I make sure to never have it turned on during the day. Your father doesn't seem to see the harm in it, but I would rather you interact with us developing your language skills or with your toys so you can finesse your hand-eye coordination. Plus, you get this vacant, dopey look on your face when you gaze at the television.

Lately you have begun expressing frustration when you want something and you can't make it happen. You rolled over from your belly to your back for the first time a few weeks ago, but you've only done it a few times since then. You try, and then you let out angry little squawks if you can't make it happen. Today, you were trying to put your Taggies blanket in your mouth, and kept crying every time you failed. I actually love that you get frustrated because it shows that you are being challenged and want to grow.

We may start you on solids soon. There is a lot of debate about whether to start at four vs. six months, but we are choosing to watch your cues and go with the advice of your doctors. You stare intently at us when we eat, but you do not yet try to grab our food. We will begin with baby oatmeal cereal instead of rice cereal, but I am sure we will end up with a messy faced baby no matter what or when we start.

This next month is going to be a doozy. Your Mammaw is going out of town, so we are spending a week with Grandpa at their house. Then two days after she returns, we are going to Maine for a week. You are one sad panda when your routine is thrown off, so fingers crossed we all survive with sanity and naps relatively intact.

Hugs and cuddles,

Momma
