RSC, abortions, and (a few) American Christians falling for The Onion Oh wow. Thanks flickr sharpening. You're totally awesome. (If there was a sarcasm font, that would be in it.) -------- I went to see The Merchant of Venice at the RSC last night. It was quite a good production, with very few issues for me to complain about. I mean, honestly, it wouldn't go into my "Top 5 Productions of All Time", but it was good. And it had Patrick Stewart in it at Shylock. And he had hair! (I was talking to my Dad last night about how I wished I'd seen him in Waiting for Godot with Ian McKellan, and then my Dad wryly observed that they'd both been in X-Men, and somehow that gave Waiting for Godot greater meaning. =p) The ending was interesting. I mean, usually, the play ends with them all going in to talk about the shenanigans and explain everything, but in this case, the dialogue was the same, but they had Portia kind of have a breakdown, and Bassanio reject her. Oh, and I really liked how they characterised Gratiano. He was a lot tougher than I'd seen in previous versions, and when Nerissa explained that she'd been with the clerk I remember thinking "I would expect Gratiano to get violent at this point, otherwise this interpretation will fall a little" and then he did. The Gratiano character was probably my favourite. & I've always felt so sorry for the Shylock character, and it doesn't matter how I look at this play I just can't help feeling really awkward when Antonio forces Shylock to become a Christian. But yeah, it was good. -------------------------------- Seriously, before anyone gets upset, this is just my view, and you'll most likely disagree. I tend to take down posts that could cause a reaction about 24 hours later, because by then my feelings about what I was writing about have calmed, and I no longer feel I need it in my diary. It also prevents unnecessary hassle when someone comes across the post and gets upset about eleven months after I'd written it, and I no longer feel like arguing it. So, my Mom called me just as I was reading an article in The Times online (seriously, I check it every few hours and am ridiculously up to date with the news), and it was about how the government are now having Life advise them on the Sexual Health Forum. You mean the group that is opposed to abortion, contraception, and sex education? Oh yeah, that sounds like a swell idea. Apparently it's because all views should be represented, but I think views that appear to actively be trying to send women back into the sexual dark ages is a bit counter-productive (and that's putting it lightly). Now, my Dad is all about being fair and playing the Devil's advocate to my views (even if he actually agrees with me), and he was saying to me that some people genuinely believe that the moment of conception is the moment life begins. Now, life. Technically I would say a plant is living, but if you pull it out of the ground, even if I think you're being a yob, I'm not going to feel like you killed something. It's the sentience that I care about. I agree that at a certain point the foetus will have sentience, and that at a certain point I think the idea of killing it is wrong, but I am pro-choice and don't believe that one day after conception the seed/egg combo can feel pain. I just don't. & I think it's saying something that people who are overtly religious are more likely to. I'm not into bashing religious beliefs online, though I will quite happily say in person that some views are freaking crazy. However, I'm not really into sitting back and not saying something because I don't want to offend someone. So, excuse me, but I'm probably going to offend certain branches of Christianity. Frankly, I'm going to largely ignore the point about conception being life/sentience, because, for those who believe, that's not going to change. I will talk about the attitudes that piss me off though. So, I was innocently browsing the comments of this article and was really pissed when I saw this comment from a Mr Gareth Barnes: "The solution to the ever increasing number of abortions is surely better contraception, perhaps all young women should be consulted at say 15 as to the long term options available to them." Thankfully, someone replied asking if it was just the woman's responsibility then. Why not all teenagers have these options made known to them at 15? Because the woman is saddled with the child? That's practically preaching to boys that they don't need to take responsibility. It's like the female MP who recently proposed in parliament that young girls should be taught abstinence. TLW and other such American groups preach abstinence, and has shown that it doesn't work. These groups refuse to teach sexual education and instead preach abstinence, which means that when teenagers then end up in a position where they're going to have sex, (and believe me, lots of them do - religion has very little to do with it) they don't know how the hell to have safe My message for Obama For Flickr's "A Message For Obama" group. FYI, if you can't comment respectfully and intelligently, don't bother. you'll be deleted and blocked, so what's the point? 1. Existing fetal homicide laws make a man guilty of manslaughter if he kills the baby in a mother's womb (except in the case of abortion). 2. Fetal surgery is performed on babies in the womb to save them while another child the same age is being legally destroyed. 3. Babies can sometimes survive on their own at 23 or 24 weeks, but abortion is legal beyond this limit. 4. Living on its own is not the criterion of human personhood, as we know from the use of respirators and dialysis. 5. Size is irrelevant to human personhood, as we know from the difference between a one-week-old and a six-year-old. 6. Developed reasoning powers are not the criterion of personhood, as we know from the capacities of three-month-old babies. 7. Infants in the womb are human beings scientifically by virtue of their genetic make up. 8. Ultrasound has given a stunning window on the womb that shows the unborn at eight weeks sucking his thumb, recoiling from pricking, responding to sound. All the organs are present, the brain is functioning, the heart is pumping, the liver is making blood cells, the kidneys are cleaning fluids, and there is a fingerprint. Virtually all abortions happen later than this date. 9. Justice dictates that when two legitimate rights conflict, the limitation of rights that does the least harm is the most just. Bearing a child for adoption does less harm than killing him. 10. Justice dictates that when either of two people must be inconvenienced or hurt to alleviate their united predicament, the one who bore the greater responsibility for the predicament should bear more of the inconvenience or hurt to alleviate it. 11. Justice dictates that a person may not coerce harm on another person by threatening voluntary harm on themselves. 12. The outcast and the disadvantaged and exploited are to be cared for in a special way, especially those with no voice of their own. 13. What is happening in the womb is the unique person-nurturing work of God, who alone has the right to give and take life. 14. There are countless clinics that offer life and hope to both mother and child (and father and parents), with care of every kind lovingly provided by people who will meet every need they can. 15.Jesus Christ can forgive all sins, and will give all who trusts him the help they need to do everything that life requires. BABY GATES FOR BOTTOM OF STAIRS : BOTTOM OF STAIRS
BABY GATES FOR BOTTOM OF STAIRS : 14 WEEK OLD BABY MILESTONES. Baby Gates For Bottom Of Stairs
IT'S HARD TO KEEP A GOOD DOG DOWN My poor Zooie is tolerating his inactive lifestyle as well as can be expected. He had to go back to the vet yesterday to have the spint redone because it was causing pressure sores on his toes. The sores seemed to be more painful than the break. We cut the splint at the bottom so it wouldn't rub againt his foot when he walked. I got an antibiotic powder to keep the largest ulcer dry and we dressed it. We've had to put a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs so Zooie won't follow me upstairs all day long. He's taken to laying at the bottom of the stairs now that he can't follow me. The hardest part is looking at Zooie's face as I leash up Clay, Bubba, Benni and/or Colby for a walk. Initially he gets excited when he hears the jingling of the leashes but when he realizes he's not coming, he puts his head down and looks up at me with the saddest face. It breaks my heart.....and we have at least 4 and a half more weeks of splinting and no walks. Ugh..... Pippin and the Baby Gate The problem: Find a way for the cats to come and go while containing the dogs. Pippin, a 19-lb. mix of uncertain lineage who looks like a miniature Golden Retriever, is small enough to sneak through the wrought iron railing next to the baby gate. I tried moving the gate to the bottom of the stairs, but that gave Pippin and my full-sized Golden Chaz enough altitude to vault over the gate entirely. So I put the gate at the top of the stairs again, and used an aluminum gutter cover to barricade the railing. I left a 4" x 6" gap at the end for the cats to get through. Then I set up the video camera--just in case--and left Pippin alone upstairs. Behold, the mini Golden. (12) Is it time yet? Two-week-old, pin-feathery Baby Cockatiels are hungry! Explore Jun 13, 2009 #392 Yesterday when I went to buy seed and nesting supplies for my Gouldian Finches I took my camera with me... just in case. And I'm so glad I did! My bird man had lots of baby parrots and love birds... and he was happy to let me move in close to get this shot... and others. I'm a regular at his warehouse so he knows that I'm a bird lover. He is hand feeding these babies so anybody who comes close looks like "the hand that feeds." Just beginning to get their first feathers, they aren't at their handsome-best yet. But give them a few months and they'll be in full-feather and brilliant color. Of course I'll go back to see them so I can show you! The Cockatiel'a dominant color is gray. The wings and abdomen are darker. The head and crest are yellow, cheeks are orange-red. The great-wing coverts and the forward secondaries are white. The lower back, upper-tail coverts and middle-tail feathers are dark gray. The underside tail is black-gray. The bill and the part above the bill are gray. The iris is black-brown. Their feet are gray. Their sex is distinguishable. The crest in the female is yellow-gray while in the male it is totally yellow. The cheeks in females are pale orange. Young males have more yellow color on the head than females of the same age. Cockatiels can be found in several mutations which are white, albino (without the pigment), beady, speckled, birds without features (they have only the combination of grey and white colors). These are most common. It is found on all continents except Antarctica , the Osprey’s diet is 99% fish so it usually nests in a location near a body of water providing there is an adequate food supply. The Osprey is particularly well adapted to this diet, it is the only raptor with reversible outer toes (allowing it to grasp its prey with two toes in front and two behind), closable nostrils to keep out water during dives, and backwards-facing scales on the talons which act as barbs to help hold its catch. It is able to dive to a depth of one metre (3.3 ft) to catch it’s prey and as it rises back into flight the fish is turned head-forward to reduce drag. (98% Cotton, 2% Spandex) Machine Wash Cold, Inside Out Made in China (12) The harsh and bitter life of my great-grandfather WILLEM VAN DER GROEF - a life that started in the Netherlands and ended in Argentina in a tragic and terrible way ...... (part 1) # Certificate of Burial of GUILLERMO / WILLEM VAN DER GROEF , from the year 1893 - my great-grandfather was born in Sommelsdijk in Holland in the year 1842 and he , very tragically , passed away on 18 October 1893 in Rosario de Santa Fe in Argentina - this document is evidence that he was buried in a protestatnt cemetary in Rosario that same day . ## Life was harsh , bitter and ofter cruel in those days - and so life must have been for my great-great-grandparents JACOB VAN DER GROEF and PIETERNELLA DONKERSLOOT , who lived in the 19th century on the island of Goeree-Overflakke in the Netherlands . Jacob and Pieternella had eight children , but just three of their children would live long enough to reach adulthood - one of these children was my great-grandfather WILLEM VAN DER GROEF . ### The course of life of WILLEM VAN DER GROEF , born february 11th 1842 in Sommelsdijk on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee in the Netherlands , would turn out to be both remarkable and astonishing , but regrettably far from easy , pleasant and comfortable ... Working man by profession , protestant by religion , Willem van der Groef would become the husband of THREE wives and the father of all together ELEVEN children . Willem would outlive all of his wives and he would also have the atrocious task to bury five of his eleven children during his lifetime . Most of his life Willem lived in Nieuwe-Tonge , a small village where ten of his eleven children were born . From time to time Willem moved to an other place on the island , Melissant , in order to find proper and suitable work to sustain himself and his growing family , but he didn't succeed in doing so .... In the year in which my grandfather was born , 1888 , Willem and his third wife IDA VAN MAASTRIGT were still so very poor that they couldn't even afford to buy milk for their just born baby , and so they started feeding my grandfather with the only 'alternative substance' they could afford : coffee ! [ but my grandfather would still reach the age of 86 finally , so it can't have ruined his early health all too much ..... ] This may very well have been one of the depressing circumstances of life in those days that caused my great-grandparents to decide to seek a better life and a possible brighter future for themselves and for all of their children far , far away outside the Netherlands , all the way in ....... Argentina ... It is certainly not difficult to imagine why these people emigrated , but it still remained a small mystery , for some time anyhow , why Willem and Ida chose to emigrate to Argentina in South America instead of to the USA in North America as so many other poor and occasionally desperate people did , until we found out that from 1888 to 1890 the Argentinian authorities must have actively encouraged people abroad to emigrate to Argentina . And so did , in and around the year 1889 , more than 5000 Dutch men and women , but as a result of poor guidance , lack of money and lack of required professional skills , a lot of those emigrants would turn back to the Netherlands , utterly disillusioned . And in some cases they wouldn't be able to come back at all ...... Willem van der Groef as well as his spouse Ida van Maastrigt sadly belonged to that last pitiable group of people ......... E M I G R A T I O N On september 24 , 1889 , father Willem , his (third) wife Ida , together with Daniel , Jacob and Pieternella Anna (three children from Willem's second marriage to Elisabeth Tijl) and together with Cornelia , Anna , Willem jr. and Leendert (the four children from his last marriage) left Goeree-Overflakkee - "for good" - on board of a steamer that would take these nine people to their new and unfamiliar homeland Argentina , on a very uncertain and highly hazardous enterprise ......... After a , hopefully good , journey of some weeks they arrived in Argentina and settled in the big city of ROSARIO , the third place in size of the country . What can we tell , with certainty and probability , about the living of these people in this completely new environment ?? Well , we know for sure that one of the children , Willem jr. , must have died in Rosario sometime between 1889 and 1893 , and we know for sure that the demise of Willem jr. wasn't the very last disaster that would take place within this family here in Rosario ......... Notably the memories of Willem's daughter Anna of her Rosario-years are a strong indication that Wiilem , Ida and the children must have had a miserable time in Argentina . The overall impression is that the four years in Argentina were very unhappy and even tragic years .... Later in her life Anna told her family that she and her sisiters would scour the boxcars , where the sugar was carried in , for bits of sugar , and also that the girls had been searching through the trash cans ....... so the very sad ascertainment is that the children really must have been desp Miss Fluffy Feet Holly's mum died when she was 2 weeks old. She was bottle raised. When we got her she was 8 weeks old but the size of a very small 4 week old. She was a bundle of fluff with big big eyes. I love her fluffy little feet. So cute. Tugging at my heartstrings. 03-05-09 Had Holly to the vet today. She has something wrong and they just can't work it out. So many possibilities and they are all bad. She is such a darling. There is a good chance she may have hydrocephalus. If that is true, she will have to be put to sleep. These next couple of weeks are going to be so hard. We are trying everything to avoid this. It just tears my heart out to think I could lose my precious baby girl. Holly is now coming up for two years of age. She didn't end up having hydrocephalus. They never worked out what was actually wrong although she seems highly stressed. She was on anti-stress medication for a couple of months and that seemed to help. She has come along way since then. 19-11-2010 Holly went missing on this day. I later found out that she had been hit and killed instantly by a car near our home. I don't know what happened to her body. My beautiful girl - I miss you so much. She was really starting to open up and get really close to me. She had come ahead so much in the previous 3 weeks. I have so many photos of you my darling - but all I want is a cuddle. Miss you. There's no easy way to contemplate bad things that happen. There's no easy way to tell someone "it'll be ok" when you can barely muster the faith to believe it. Yesterday we found out that we lost the baby. More precisely, that the baby never fully developed. An empty black hole. I'm not exactly stellar at dealing with grief. I tend to bottle it up and act supportive and stable. Unrattled. Unflappable. Sometimes I deal best with what I feel through auxiliary means (writing, photography) ... and at the time, this was the best I could do to exorcise what was/is happening. We're stunned. Shocked. Saddened. Angry. Confused. This is life. on the baby bench with PeeWee and Pooh the baby's room. Yes, that is a talking PeeWee Herman doll, from about 1984. For years, I kept it in a box, trying to preserve it. Now, it's thoroughly scuffed. And when you pull the string, the voice is really creepy, all distorted. But I keep it. And now it's in Lu's room. she doesn't know what to do with it. And Pooh. All scrunched and funny. He's the best. baby shower cookie favours Ok, this is it. All done and dusted. Daniela's party/shower better be a success, cos I have spend all my creative energy on her designs, and I plan to have fun there ;0). Have to say that those cookies do look much better in real life in 3D. Was hard to photograph to show that they are actually double sided cookies for a change. Now to wrap all those edible presents nicely. ( at least I did not have to go shopping for the present, hey, cupcakes and cookies would do just fine ;) Good night everyone, it's 1:04 AM, I am off to sleep. P.S They are not as good as Kim's and other real cookie decorators, when i look at theirs, I can see that I am just a meager tinkering amateur. Tiffany Blue Onsie favors Onsie cookie favors for a baby shower. Both parents are physicians, so I put a stethoscope on half of them and since they haven't named the baby yet, I used the first letter of their last name for the jersey look! The cake is Tiffany blue with chocolate brown polka dots and a white ribbon, so I tried to coordinate with that. Luckily I happen to have a real box from Tiffany's that I could use for color inspiration! These cookies fought me every step of the way. Not my best work, but they look nicer in the cellophane bags tied with white ribbon! Gafishi Daniel's Mother Looks At A Portrait Of Herself In The Photography Exhibition at Kiziba Refugee Camp American artist Kresta K.C. Venning, M.A. Photography, partnered with Africa Humanitarian Action(AHA) to offer a Photography Workshop in which 5 days training in basic digital Nikon camera skills were offered to 6 male and 4 female refugees ages 19 - 26. This training occurred over two weeks from August 15 - August 29 and took place at the Health Center at Kiziba Refugee Camp in Kibuye, Rwanda. In addition to the classroom, field workshops were held at various sites across several Quartiers and Villages throughout Kiziba Camp, including students' homes, churches, football fields, pastures, community gathering places, potable water collection and/or laundry/washing sites, a secondary school, a grave site, and a hill-top village. The objectives of this visual arts project was three-fold: 1) teach basic camera skills with an emphasis on basic portraiture technique so that students might later, if provided cameras to share from AHA, be able to earn income making refugees' portraits 2) encourage an artistic outlet and 3) encourage young refugees to depict, dignify, and reflect upon their lives as refugees, for both a local refugee audience as well as a foreign, international audience. The training consisted of 4 days of 3 hour workshops for each group of 5 students, supplemented with several hours of optional photography field-trip classes around the camp the first weekend. (These extra hours were optional as several students had unavoidable church or family commitments.) Following the camera technique workshops, students also participated in selecting from 100s of photographs 30 that they deemed exhibition-worthy images. From these 30 photographs, Kresta then chose the final 5 photographs per student that would be exhibited in Kiziba Camp's Youth Hall, August 29. During classroom time, students were also asked 6 questions to guide their written artist's personal statements. These statements accompanied the final 5 photographs and served to give exhibition viewers insight/context into the individual bodies of work, as well as the photography workshop itself. (Kresta selected the final 5 images herself only because the camp lost power for days and the students were not able to select the photographs themselves from Kresta's laptop.) Prior to this Photography Workshop, 8 of the students had never held a camera or taken a photograph. As many did not have a single childhood photograph of themselves. Thus, this workshop was full of firsts. First time touching a camera, first time taking a picture, first time making a portrait of their mother, brother, sister, cousin, friend, local shop owner. Implications of this basic camera training are that students thoroughly enjoyed the training, were challenged and inspired to be creative artistically, felt encouraged to develop a technical and artistic eye, and hope to receive cameras to share from AHA. Along with cameras, a laptop is required, otherwise students cannot edit (using photoshop or a similar editing software program). Needless to say, there was no time to teach basic photo-editing skills during this photography workshop. That would be the next phase, if AHA is to develop this training. As for the final 50 photographs included in the exhibition, Kresta edited each one for color saturation and contrast/brightness. Such editing is standard practice and must be taught to the photography students if they are to make photographs that are in fact "sellable" as AHA has mentioned it envisions. This Photography Workshop was unprecedented, as was the culminating photography exhibition that was attended by 100 friends, family members, AHA staff, and one UNHCR representative. In this exhibition we learn about food distribution--rations of maize(cornmeal), common beans, and cooking oil delivered in massive World Food Programme lorries and packaged in thick neutral or white sacks or plastic jugs--and food, goat's meat, processed after a bloody slaughter, the meat man slashing the goat's flesh with a dull knife in a tiny unventilated mud room. We appreciate a trinity of ripe avocados as abstract art, witness a bride and groom 'I do'. We observe students seated eagerly on long classroom benches the first day back at school, or wide-eyed babies swaddled to their sisters' small backs. We realize that places of hard work might also double as places of play: the cement laundry slab where children both wash clothes and pretend to be gymnasts toddling on thin, soapy balance beams. We are reminded that when we live in a mud home, we must frequently repair it with more mud, slabbing the wet earth to the home's side, an act of necessity and humility. If these 50 photographs say anything, they say we live in tiny homes with few possessions--a radio, mosquito net, knife, bowl, bed--and we take care of what we own. We make meager meals from wood that we chop, water that we carry, in round smoky huts with singed walls and sloping floors. In other words, we labor to live. This exhib Souvenir While wandering around Hoi An, Vietnam, we came across a small shop selling propoganda posters on rice paper. I really loved the posters and billboards I had seen and taken lots of pictures of, so I was ecstatic to find this shop. Unfortunately, most of the posters were not appropriate for my living room (celebrating the victory at Dien Bien Phu or talking about American bombs killing babies, that sort of thing). However, this was had a lovely image and neutral message, "Nuoc bac, Com vang," which means something like "Water is silver, rice is gold." At least according to the translation taped to the back. I do know that "nuoc" is water and "com" is rice, so this seems plausible! We now have it hanging in our living room and I just love it! (9) 25 Things About Me Cell phone picture. My sister and I usually send each other picture messages with text when we're texting each other anything. The message underneath this one was "new living arrangement." Sometimes the pictures have everything to do with the text, sometimes nothing. That's just explaining the picture. The real point of this is... my friend Cassie tagged me in her Facebook note, so I thought I'd do it here. 25 things about me. 1. When I'm afraid to do something, I usually procrastinate, lie, and say that I don't have time to do it. [i.e. Applying for college] 2. I love to sit, close my eyes, and listen to music, just to soak in every note and every word. [i.e. Secondhand Serenade, Josh Groban... mmmm.] 3. I can't for anything do a handwritten journal. I'd love to, I've started a thousand, but I can't ever keep them going. I usually tear them apart. I'm more attracted to online diaries, if anything. 4. I'm scared to get my license. That might go back to number one, considering I'm almost eighteen years old without a permit or license. 5. I don't think my art is good enough to get into a good art school, so I'm applying for community colleges and universities. 6. I never want to get divorced. After seeing how much my parents HATE each other, I will not marry someone unless I'm sure we'll be together forever. 7. I can't wait to be pregnant. I mean, I can wait..... but I can't wait at all. I want a baby soooo bad. 8. I have always wanted a little brother or sister. There was a point where my mom was going to reverse her... fixing to have a baby with her second husband, because I wanted one so bad. Now, I have two little [not really but almost step] sisters, and I freaking love it. 9. If I could go back and change anything in school, I would've joined chorus instead of band. I love to sing, but I wish I had more control over my voice and/or I wish I could sing at all. 10. I'm the peacemaker in my family. Always. I'm a people-pleaser, so if they ask, I'm glad to help. 11. My brain is so jumbled, I couldn't tell you how I really feel about anything. Sometimes I want to scream because my mind is constantly in fast motion. 12. My friends make fun of me because I say my words weird. For example, ketchup : "catch-up," yellow : "yallow," spider : "spah-der." 13. My favorite thing to do with my friends is sit and talk. I prefer it over all the times we play putt-putt, go to the movies, go ice skating, anything. Same goes for my boyfriend. I could sit and talk to people all day long and be perfectly content. 14. Sometimes I'm scared that I'll end up like my parents or my brother. My dad used to be really depressed and still takes medication for it. My mom had a stroke and is still really suffering from it. And my brother used to be into drugs. Sometimes I'm just afraid that I'll make stupid choices because I think I have to be like them. 15. I love sleep. That is probably my favorite thing to do... ever. In the world. Just resting my eyes and being awake is okay too. 16. I am extremely paranoid. I watch a lot of Most Haunted shows, Snapped, Psych, Monk, CSI. So when something's remotely weird, I get in my crime show mindset, and so things are ten times worse than they should be. 17. I grew up on Country Manor Dr. I lived there for only 5 years of my life. We moved after mom left dad. We lived on the same street as strippers and drug dealers. But I met my best friend in the whole world there, and I'd give anything to go back to those times. 18. I love long car rides in and around the mountains. 19. My favorite band/tv show in the entire world is The Monkees. I don't/can't/will never have enough Monkees stuff. 20. Lately, when I go anywhere, I see things and think, "Wow, that would make a great picture." It's been happening more and more often. I can't wait to get my license just so I can go and freaking take some! 21. I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, or have sex. But for the love of God, never called me straight edge. 22. If it didn't cost a bunch, if it wouldn't alter my face completely, if it didn't have side-effects... I would get a nose job in a heart beat. 23. I love bonfires. I love roasted marshmallows. I love chocolate bars in s'mores that are too hard to bite through because it's too cold out. I love the smell of fire on my clothes. I love burning knees. I love freezing toes. I love toe-bogs and gloves. I love chili. I really... love anything that has to do with winter, outdoor, bonfire cookouts. 24. I can never get too many hugs. I love kisses, but I prefer hugs over kisses any day of the week. 25. I love the Lord. Sometimes I wish I were a better Christian though. A lot of the time, I feel like a hypocrite based on what I used to tell my sister, and what I do 67/365 My new baby I know! So don't even say it! Terrible terrible quality but it was the only pic I took yesterday. Everything was pretty all over the place and it got to 12 and I forgot I had to take the photo of the day but luckily I had taken this before when I got my Minolta x700 in the mail so yay! Rescheduled my photo shoot with Cynthia for next week which is why you guys haven't seen another huge set of pics from the photo shoot. But it's coming, its coming! Maroon 5 concert today! I'm so excited! I bought a few rolls of film so I'm definitely going to experiment tonight! Lots & lots of pictures coming soon. Gotta go drink some juice or something. Too thirsty. Plus is not really safe for me to be online right now. I know I've barely been journal-ing but I promise I will sometime next week. There's just too much going on for me to try and stir this pot with more problems. So right now I'm only looking at the positives. A new business model for baby prams based on leasing and product [An article from: Journal of Cleaner Production] This digital document is a journal article from Journal of Cleaner Production, published by Elsevier in 2006. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available in your Amazon.com Media Library immediately after purchase. You can view it with any web browser. Description: A shift in business thinking from selling products to providing service solutions to customer needs is becoming noticeable. It is driven by increasing competition and the need to identify new profit centres for producers of mature products. This paper identifies a new product group that could be interesting from the product-service system perspective - baby prams. The study presents a new business model based on selling the function that baby prams provide through leasing prams. It discusses potential barriers and necessary changes in product design and the supply chain to make it work. The product-service system in this case could include the organisation of a reverse logistics system with different levels of refurbishment and remanufacturing of prams, partially by retailers. The new model may provide customers with a high quality pram in a ''like new'' condition for the period they need it, and may help avoid transaction costs of having to sell the pram on the second-hand market. Economic estimations point to a significant potential for increased profits, while the environmental potential should be further investigated.
