  • An instrument consisting of a drum and an optical system that projects a narrow vertical beam of light onto a cloud base.

  • (Ceiling Lighting) Attach to the ceiling with or without a gap between the fixture and ceiling.  When a gap is present the fixture is called a “Semi Flush”, because it’s not quite flush to the ceiling.  These fixtures can provide general light to a room but are not enough light alone.

  • The ceiling projector or cloud searchlight is used to measure the height of the base of clouds (called the ceiling) above the ground. It is used in conjunction with an alidade, usually positioned 1000 ft (304.8 m) away and wherever possible set at the same level.

    lamp shade
  • lampshade: a protective ornamental shade used to screen a light bulb from direct view

  • The shade serves the important function of blocking the glare from a light bulb and is usually the most decorative part of a lamp. The lamp shade can be made of glass, fabric, metal, or other more creative materials.

  • A cover for a lamp, used to soften or direct its light

  • A lampshade is a fixture that covers the lightbulb on a lamp to diffuse the light it emits. Conical, cylindrical and other forms on floor-, desk- or table top-mounted as well as suspended lamp models are the most common and are made in a wide range of materials.

    clip on
  • attachable by a clip; "clip-on earrings"; "a clip-on bow tie"

  • (Clip-ons) Motorcycle handlebar refers to the steering mechanism for motorcycles. Handlebars often support part of the rider's weight, and provide a mounting place for controls such as brake, throttle, clutch, horn, light switch, and rear view mirrors.

  • Things, esp. sunglasses or earrings, that are attached by clips

  • a device (as an earring, sunglasses, microphone etc.) that is attached by clips

Art Deco Light

Art Deco Light

The art deco style Foshay Tower, built in 1929, remains one of the tallest concrete skyscrapers to this day, second only in height to the Empire State Building in New York City. It's in downtown Minneapolis and stands out among all the modern glass and steel skyscrapers around it. The exterior is faced with Indiana limestone, while the interior features African Mahogany, Italian marble, terrazzo, gold-plated doorknobs, a silver and gold plated ceiling, ornamental bronze, hand wrought iron, and intricate ceiling lights.
