Levi #8: Sleeping beauty
April 13, 2010
Newborn photoshoot. It was exhausting for parents, baby and us, yet very rewarding at the end.
We had a pleasure of new baby boy, Levi today. Actually this was our second attempt to photograph him. First time was around 6pm at night, the baby was right awake. Today, we increased temperature in the studio to around 80 (and felt like boiling) and it was 10 am instead. We had lots of cleaning and breastfeeding in between. Actually mom sested to use formula for feeding instead of breast milk, for deeper "sedation". Will try that next time.
The hardest part was to make the baby asleep and keep him in the position, they do like to move a lot when non secured with a blanket. Second was the lighting. This one was photographed with 50mm lenses, some natural light and some flash fill bounced off the white diffuser. Camera had a hard time focusing on the baby due to low contrast, so some times I had to use manual focus.
