Diabetes365 Day 13 - 102307

I always carry my current vial of Humalog in my kit. Insulin is fine at room temperature for awhile; I think the manufacturers recommend keeping it for no longer than 30 days but I don't pay attention to that. I keep it in my kit until it's finished and haven't had any problems, even during the summer months.

Filling reservoirs is by far my least favorite part of pumping. I'd rather stick a dozen Silhouettes into myself than fill a reservoir. When I see that mine is running low I try to fill another one in advance so I don't have to rush. I then stash the insulin vial, full reservoir, plunger & connector in the Humalog box and put that in my bag along with my other everyday supplies.

4 years ago (March 30, 2005) we were sent to Chicago's Children's Hospital as Calli was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. We've come a long way.

This has been brought to my attention and how perfect after I received a letter from Calli's current pump manufacturer, that they will no longer be in the insulin pump business.

This would save the 5-6 daily finger pokes that she currently does and have such a HUGE benefit of always knowing what your blood sugar is! Wow!

I'm so excited to find out more about this and get on the phone with her doctor. How Cool is this?!
