Runway at Sky Harbor Airport Viv likes to fly a lot more than I do. Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim with Kodak Elitechrome EBX 100 XPRO. In looking at a lot of Viv shots, many if which I find kinda boring, I think the trick is to use slow film and get the underexposure. That creates both richer colors and the unpredictable vignette. Pendembu-Kailahun road, dry season, 1967 (1 of 2) The motor road from Pendembu to Kailahun (16.5 miles) was opened in 1919 or 1920, largely through the joint efforts of the paramount chiefs of Upper Bambara and Luawa chiefdoms. It was initially very winding, as it followed old foot trails, and so narrow that two approaching vehicles could pass only with great difficulty. Shortly later, the British colonial government widened and somewhat staightened it, in order to increase the traffic in palm kernels coming to the Pendembu railhead. In 1967, it was actually a good road, although it presented some difficulties. In the dry season, there was lots of loose gravel, both in the middle and at the outer edges. My VW would have torn out its underside (by scraping on the middle ridge) if Ihad driven it in the established tracks then. Instead, I had to straddle the left track, putting one set of tires squarely on either the center or the lateral gravel ridge and the other set of tires, along the edge of the other ridge. This made steering difficult at more than 35 mph. Passing lorries threw up dense and lingering clouds of blinding dust, too. During the rainy season, there were stretches where the road surface was like modeling clay. There, the lorries would cut deep ruts, which would have high-centered my VW. I had to avoid them by driving far to the left edge of the surface, with my inner set of tires between the ruts. Confronting an on-coming, often speeding lorry on this narrow road was always a thrill during the rains, as most of them had poor suspension systems that made them unsteady when braking on the slick surface. (Perhaps for this very reason, some lorry drivers seemed to make little use of their brakes.) Nevertheless, the road was always passable. And that's important in view that this road was THE link with Kailahun, Koindu, and points beyond into Guinee and Liberia. My Daily Commuter A lucky find. Built by Barry Witcomb, completed 27/01/64. 1915 Packard Model E 2˝ Ton C-Cab After many years of storage, this truck was purchased from the St. Lawrence Starch Co. which was founded in 1889. It was used to make deliveries between Toronto and Hamilton. A delivery would take a whole day, since the top speed on the truck was 14mph. It is equipped with solid rubber Firestone tires and has no shock absorbers. The decorative side panels are a reproduction of a 1901 newspaper advertisement for the company. War orders pushed Packard truck production to almost double that of the passenger cars, to a record 4,000 units. The Czar of Russia had opted for the Packard trucks ordering 600 of them. These trucks were instrumental in turning the tide of World War I forever in favor of the allies. The Victory at “Chateau Thierry” …. the furious engagement which was won and made possible through the performance of a single Packard Motor Truck. 2 Million Tires and the Reef In the late 60s and early 70s scientists started thinking of putting down artificial reefs. Tires made good substrate if they could be kept in one place. They are only 3-5 lbs negative in the water. So Good Year looking for a good way to get rid of tires donated a "bundeling machine" that would strat the tires together in groups of 10. Hoever the strap holding the tires together used a metal clip. 5-10 years later that clip melted in the saltwater and now all 2 mil tires are free in a pile of Sunrive Blvd in Fort Lauderdale in about 70ft of water. They have moved to within the edge of the reef. With good storm surge, they are picked up and bounced over the reef. Large storms bring large batches clogging up the beach. Over 500 miles bike ride to Idaho. Sept - Oct 2007 P9170154. Photo: Old Carousel Art Museum builiding. Hoodriver, Oregon A Bike tour From Portland (Troutdale) to Bonner's Ferry, Idaho. Eleven days of riding 530 miles (plus 40 miles of hitching). The return was made on the Empire Builder Amtrak train at Sandpoint, ID. For the tour Matt and Carye bought new custom built Bike Friday (www.bikefriday.com) folding bikes that are made in Eugene, Oregon. Neither Carye or Matt own cars, so investing in a reliable, flexible bike for travel was important. However the bikes arrived two days before leaving, so getting used to new bikes while on the road, was literally a pain in the butt! By the end of the trip, gears, seat and handle bar placement, and proper riding shoes were figured out. Everyday of the ride had awesome weather (not too hot, not rainy), and Carye and Matt met many friendly people, ate as much pizza and icecream as desired, and enjoyed some beautiful scenery (though Washington wheat fields get dull to the eyes after 20 miles). The fourth day brought bad luck - 4 flats (at once!) caused by Goathead thorns, and wind in the face most the day. Also a family of earwigs hitched a ride in C & M's camping gear, and it took about a week to finally see the last one. Idaho is a cyclist paradise (what a secret). From The State Border near Coere D'Alene to just before Bonner's Ferry, there were many bike paths, nice scenery, and most flat routes. Day 1:Troutdale to Hood River (55.6 miles) Highlights: Gorgeous Columbia River (Get the bike map from ODOT). Ride to Council Crest, Ride by Falls, bike-ped paths on the old historic highway. The campground listed on the bike map for Hood River was not there. We decided to treat ourselves and stayed at the Hood River downtown hotel. Hood River is a super nice town - though sad the Carousel Art Museum is closed and moving elsewhere. Also on this route, between Cascade Locks and Wyeth, do not take the Wyeth Bench Rd (aka Herman Creek Rd), it is a horrible grade hill, and you are better off taking the I-84. Note about I-84, it's not the most pleasant experience, but it's not bad, In order to bike to Hood River, you will need to get on I-84 at several points - The shoulder is pretty wide at most places, and it's a good idea to wear some bright orange! Day 2: Hood River to Maryhill, WA (52.5 miles) Highlights: The old historic highway section is really neat: it goes through the Mosier Tunnels (now just for ped/bike), The section through Mosier town, and to Rowena's Crest was on low traffic streets. No need to get on I-84 at all all the way to the Dalles. The crossing over to Washington on the bridge in the Dalles was difficult. It was so windy and the sidewalk so narrow we had to walk. Biking to hwy 14 across the wind was also difficult. But once on hwy 14 heading East, the wind was at our bikes, and we cruised past the Maryhill Museum (Too late in the day to stop!) and stayed at the Maryhill State Park (back down by the river). Day 3: Maryhill to Crow Butte (58.2 miles) Highlights: Cruising sometimes 20 miles an hour easily with the wind at our back on Hwy 14. Lovely more deserty scenery, waving to trains. A Stop at Stonehenge. From the campground, we hitched a ride in a pickup back up the top of the hill to hwy 14. The road was a major truck route, and the shoulder was pretty much missing for the first section of the hill, we decided htiching was the safest option. We enjoyed stopping at America's Stonehenge. I had been there before, but never thought I'd bike all the way! Crow Butte park was father than we thought. We could see it, but then had to ride about 4 miles all the way around and out to it. The RV park was expensive, and did not offer "primitive camper" sites. Day 4: Crow Butte, WA to Hat Rock Park, OR Highlights: Early morning hike past deer to the top of Crow Butte. Discovering the way over the I-82 - there is a bike route, but you need to go on the may freeway before the bike route appears, then you exit, cross under and go over on the otherside. Umatilla was nice little town to check out. At first we were excited about the Lewis & Clark Bike/Ped Bath, but it turned into a bad situation. The wind in the gorge changed from E to W today, so we had to push hard for 20 miles, going about 5-8 miles an hour. Very hard reality after the day before. The road moved away from the Gorge and was now less interesting. Onion (Walla Walla) trucks passed us all day, leaving onion skin trails. We crossed back to Oregon, and instead of the main road decided to follow the Lewis & Clark trail to Hat Rock State Park. Unfortunately it turned into a bad idea. The path was badly marked and kept changing from paved to shared road, to bark-dirt to gravel. After a gravel section we discovered that we had rode through thorns and had 4 flats at once. We pulled out 15-30 thorns and only had two new tubes, One tube needed to be patched 7 times. We were able to ride out to the main road and hitched a ride Over 500 miles bike ride to Idaho. Like A True Natures Child Arriving at the city of golden friendship i just knew i needed a bike to move around on and snap pics cause its 80F all the time. Was figuring something mild like a 500 VR or something but this city of 1 million only stocks 125cc anywhere. Ok what the hay i try one out. Ready to shift into 4th i found myself goin 600MPH and was sold right away. Suspension aint so great though and 2 of us and rocky mountain roads managed to break 3 rear spokes and a tire in the first week. Down to the shop and ya Honda uses cheap Korean spokes, need to replace with heavy duty Japanese ones. Ok...do that right now and balance..throw on a new oversize tire, tube and custom heavy duty shocks...like right now!!!....so 2 mechs start rippin it apart in front of shop in the blazing sun...done in one hour and bill comes to 1800 pesos, thats like $45 USD....rides like a dream now. These are a must to get anywhere here and during rush hour they turn on all 3 of the citys stoplights. A maze of jeepneys, trucks burning kerosene, motorolas top speed 15mph...new American suv's and pedicabs goin way slower than a bicycle but holding up the entire parade. So u squeeze through and hole, pass on left, right, up middle, up the dam sidewalk to get to the front of the line at the red light. Sometimes is 30 scooters in a pack and when that green changes its like start of the gran prix, what a blast. Lawton, OK inset map 1966 Inset map of Lawton on 1966 Oklahoma highway map depicts highway routes and other major thorougfares through the city. The Pioneer Expressway (now Interstate 44) skirted the downtown area and continued across the east and south sides of the city as US 277-281 and also was designated as US 62 to the north of the three-level interchange near the downtown area. The 16-mile expressway through the Lawton/Fort Sill area also included interchanges at Fort Sill's Key Gate and Gate 2, and connected the two sections of the H.E. Bailey Turnpike north to Oklahoma City and south to Wichita Falls. The former US 277-281 route through the city over 2nd Street in the downtown area and 11th Street near Lawton Municipal Airport and southward was now designated as Business U.S. 281 and also picked up SH 36, which began in north Lawton at Fort Sill's Gate 3 on Fort Sill Boulevard (signed as 11th Street south of Gore Boulevard). South of the Pioneer Expressway, where Business 281 ended, the old US 277-281 continued as SH 36 for three more miles to the Six-Mile Y near Geronimo where 36 turned west to Faxon and Chattanooga crossing under the expressway at the starting point of the south turnpike section and US 277-281 diverted from the expressway east back to the Y and continued south on the older route. US 62 generally followed Cache Road through the city as a four-lane divided highway from the interchange to the Fort Sill Boulevard overpass and then widened to six lanes west to 52nd Street, where it narrowed to two lanes before leaving the city. The 52nd and Cache Road location would later become the starting point of a new US 62 alignment between Lawton and Altus. State Highway 7 entered the city from the east on Lee Boulevard and continued west to Sheridan Road where the route turned north for two miles to the junction with US 62 at the Sheridan/Cache Road intersection in west Lawton. From this point west through Altus to the Texas border near Hollis, US 62 and SH 7 were co-signed on a duplexed highway route - a situation that ended in 1971 with the completion of the new US 62 to Altus and the deletion of SH 7's designation west of Lawton with its western terminus now at the 62 junction or Cache/Sheridan intersection. Ron Stephens Stadium, WPA 1940 Lawton OK Sports stadium in Lawton, Ok. In good shape and being used by the Lawton Public Schools for football and soccer games. 52/365 Late at night (like right now 1:54 am) when I am laying on the floor in my bedroom writing and typing stuff that you guys probably don't want to read... and I get tired and annoyed and I roll over and take a deep breath and stare at my ceiling, this is what I am looking at. And that is the bracelet I made myself, because I forgot how much I liked making bracelets. Even though I tried to make it an anklet because sometimes it drives me crazy, having things on my wrists... But apparently my anklet making skills are not good since my ankle is not the same size as my wrist, obviously. So this is an anklet for wrists. Yes. Note to self: Stop being so... so... (you know..) Go do a puzzle. Do something simple because you are sick and tired of technology and internet socializing things... go do a puzzle. Go read a book. Go walk your dog. Go write. Do something... Do something because you are doing nothing and doing nothing means nothing and you are meaning and doing and being nothing. (Deep breath.) it's how you see the world random edit...I wanted to practise lightning+shading AND I FAILED,YAY!XD Bah,i feel so shitty,i need to sleep -__- Finally finished the Harry Potter series as i planned,it's the first time i complete something i had decided to do without any inconveniences XD I loved the last book,i think it was very well written, some people of my age are prejudiced a little towards the Hogwarts world, but i suggest reading it to anyone who likes to dream and wants to escape from the real world and reach a very well built and detailed parallel universe..fantasy world, sadly D: I wish i had some magic powers to deal with everyday life....-___- Woah, most pathetic description ever HAHAHA. i'm just TIRED XD Simming-wise I'm impatient for Into Darkness...Now i REALLY wanna know if i'll go on.It's the first time i feel adequate in a contest i'm in O__O I applied for Sui Generis too.I'm a little worried about that...I'm afraid i'll be buried under contests again,i do not like the feeling so i cross my fingers i get in& will have fun if so! MY BACKUP LIGHTS Since I am getting ready to add my Poison Spyder Custom Crusher Corners and Rocker Knockers to the jeep and I am going to go with LED tail lights, I was going to lose my reverse lights. They weren't that bright anyway and after being use to the pair of 100 watters I had in the back of Fang, my river/sand running truck, I knew I needed something better. So I went to my local off road shop, Custom Off Road Equipment, and picked up these PIAA 1500 backup lights. Though expensive, the kit has everything you need to install them. Since I already have my own custom wiring harness in place, I just had to drill a couple of holes each to the Smittybilt swing away tire carrier. They are on a relay and a switch, not at all hooked up to the tranny switch. I love these, when I switch them on they remind me of the Millenium Falcon on take off. They are bright for 55 watt lights. I love them! 1st Truck Taken the day after bringing it home from Washington Ford. 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 4X4 Off Road Package. It has the 4.0 V6 engine, 6 disc CD, Power Windows, Locks, and Mirrors, Sliding Rear Window, Bedliner, Hitch Reciever and Running Boards. Currently the Ranger had tinted windows, some decals on the windows, and the pin stripe is gone. Over time I plan to put a 10" Subwoofer in the back, put bigger tires and rims on it.....maybe a 2" lift, billet grill, smoked headlights, tail lights, and fog lights. I havent decided if I want to either put a bull bar with 2 Off road lights and a bed cover on or a full brush guard with 4 Off road lights and a roll bar with 6 KC Highliters on yet.....I just need some more money now lol See also: tire covers 4 less bicycle tire size chart goodyear tire shop tire pressure sensor reset front tire pressure motorcycle tyre prices muscle car tyres expert tire owatonna |

WINTER TYRE TEST 2011. WINTER TYRE
WINTER TYRE TEST 2011. DUNLOP TIRES SP SPORT. MR TIRE EASTON MD. Winter Tyre Test 2011
189/365 Friday 25th March 2011. Another day, another park. Did I mention yet how much more I'm enjoying springtime Paris than that dreary, miserable winter that seemed to go on forever?! I've literally been to a different park or garden every day this week, since Sunday. This one, however, will always be way up there on my list of favourites. It is, of course, my beloved Parc de Bercy. It's one of the few parks that I've consistently returned to since the very beginning, so you'll have seen it in all four seasons by the time I leave. It's stunning in all seasons, but this is definitely the best so far. Easily one of the most beautiful, tourist-free corners of Paris. I can't even put my finger on what it is that I love so much about it - it's just my haven. So anyway, this is where I spent my lunch break today - eating, wandering, photographing, people watching and (perhaps the best part) watching a bizarre menage a trois des canards. Lady duck, when she wasn't nesting (in one of the nooks on that statue - I was so gutted I only had my 18-55mm lens with me!) spent most of the time being chased around by man duck, who in turn was being chased by a rather possessive best friend. With the exception of this blissful lunch break, today hasn't really been much fun. In my second lesson a child shouted out "FUCK YOU BITCH" - not directly at me, more as a way of showing off that he knew some "gros mots en anglais". It's unfortunate for him really that he doesn't know any of the words which might have helped him pass the recent English test. I've no doubt that he remains blissfully unaware of what it even means beyond the fact that it's rude, having heard it in a Fifty Cent song or something, but I was really shocked to hear it and he was accordingly punished. It wasn't the best start to the day though. It didn't get a whole lot better when I realised that I'd forgotten ALL the materials for the lesson I'd planned with my last class and had to entirely improvise the whole thing - including singing Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes on my own because I'd left the CD at home. Even my usually very rewarding tutoring session this evening was harder work than usual because both girls (and me, to be fair!) were really tired. I'm exhausted and having a very lazy evening in tonight, but looking forward to tomorrow's adventure to Rouen... D.I.Y. ziptie snowchains didn't work for me :( I lost half a dozen on a 1 km test-drive, so i don't think these are going to last too well. Pity, i love the idea (as long as i don't get a flat).
