Howard's new digs I needed a place to stash the fish that was (a). not in danger of getting him jostled, (b). not in any significant direct sunlight, and (c). not in the kitchen, where there's very little counter space. I found this (very sturdy) little table at a second-hand store; it was unfinished and I wanted something darker, so I went to Ace and picked up a very pretty stain in "Sedona Red." This is only one coat, and not finished with a sealant or anything. I think it came out pretty nice. Next time I change the water, I'll move the cord/heater to the other side of the tank so the bookcase camouflages it better. I would do it now, but I figure I've traumatized the poor little fish enough for one week. Dishwasher Freezing Prevention System Our outside back wall in the kitchen isn't insulated and the tiny dishwasher feed pipe runs right by it, so when it gets really cold there's a danger of the pipe freezing. So last night I installed a heat lamp plus a space heater, and covered the area with a shroud.
