1970 Jaguar E-Type Roadster
Chassis No. PIR13630
Engine No. 7R12678-9
The Jaguar E-Type (US) or XKE (UK) is a British automobile manufactured by Jaguar between 1961 and 1975. Its combination of good looks, high performance, and competitive pricing established the marquee as an icon of 1960s motoring.
The E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public as a grand tourer in two-seater coupe form (FHC or Fixed Head Coupe) and as convertible (OTS or Open Two Seater). The 2+2 version with a lengthened wheelbase was released several years later. The model was made in three distinct versions which are now generally referred to as "Series 1", "Series 2" and "Series 3".
On its release Enzo Ferrari called the Jaguar XKE "The most beautiful car ever made".
PIR13630: Offered here is a great survivor example of this famous British marquee, on which no reasonable effort was spared in the endeavor to preserve its charm. Finished in the timeless Silver over Black, this open-headlight, 4.2L Series 2 XKE presents well as a maintained numbers-matching classic driver.
Cosmetically, this car remains largely original, including the paint and upholstery. The cabin’s thick black leather has aged gracefully over the years, providing character and supple support, while the exterior finish does show blemishing in areas. The factory original A/C system still resides on the vehicle (needs charging). The roadster is also equipped with chrome wire wheels and manual transmission!
Several original accessories accommodate the car, such as: jack and case, spare wheel/tire, and original wood trimmed steering wheel. Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate verifies its authenticity.
A Well Preserved & Solid Example!
Highly Desired Numbers-Matching 4.2L Roadster!
Equipped with Factory A/C!
A Strong Investment for Many Years to Come!

Through VCA workshops (Vision-Commitment- Action) our partners learn how to deal with life-matters like gender-equality, education, health-care; not in the least as concerns HIV-Aids.
We attended a workshop (a drama played by the inhabitants of the epicenter) about how to deal with the problems of HIV-aids: how to explain your husband to be wise and do the Aids-test and how to use a condom.

Port Sunlight Village, Wirral.
In 1887, Lever Brothers began looking for a new site on which to expand its soap-making business, which was at that time based in Warrington. The company bought 56 acres (230,000 m2) of flat unused marshy land in Cheshire, south of the River Mersey. It was large enough to allow space for expansion, and had a prime location between the river and a railway line. The site became Port Sunlight, where William Lever built his works and a model village to house his employees. William Lever personally supervised planning the village, and employed nearly thirty different architects. Between 1899 and 1914, 800 houses were built to house a population of 3,500. The garden village had allotments and public buildings including the Lady Lever Art Gallery, a cottage hospital, schools, a concert hall, open air swimming pool, church, and a temperance hotel. Lever introduced welfare schemes, and provided for the education and entertainment of his workforce, encouraging recreation and organisations which promoted art, literature, science or music.
Lever's aims were "to socialise and Christianise business relations and get back to that close family brotherhood that existed in the good old days of hand labour." He claimed that Port Sunlight was an exercise in profit sharing, but rather than share profits directly, he invested them in the village. He said, "It would not do you much good if you send it down your throats in the form of bottles of whisky, bags of sweets, or fat geese at Christmas. On the other hand, if you leave the money with me, I shall use it to provide for you everything that makes life pleasant – nice houses, comfortable homes, and healthy recreation."
The historical significance of Port Sunlight lies in its combination of model industrial housing, providing materially decent conditions for working people, with the architectural and landscape values of the garden suburb, influenced by the ideas of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement. Each block of houses was designed by a different architect. The backs of any of the houses cannot be seen, and each house is unique. In terms of architectural features, there is half-timbering, carved woodwork and masonry, pargetting (ornamental plaster work) moulded and twisted chimneys and leaded glazed patterns. Some houses were built in Flemish style, with bricks imported from Belgium.
One of the great buildings in Port Sunlight is the Lady Lever Art Gallery. A keen art collector, Lever travelled all over the world and liked to show the villagers the art he collected. Opened in 1922 by Princess Beatrice, the art gallery shows Lever's collection and modern-day artwork. The collection includes a range of furniture, paintings and sculptures.
Other notable buildings include the Lyceum, the Gladstone Theatre (which hosts local amateur dramatic productions), Hesketh Hall (which houses the local branch of the Royal British Legion) and the "Bridge Inn" public house.
The village contains a church and opposite is a small primary school. Church Drive Primary School is open to people living outside the village and residents. There is a war memorial by Goscombe John in the village centre in memory of soldiers that died in World War I. Port Sunlight has a water feature. The open air swimming pool is now a garden centre and cafe.
Until the 1980s, all residents were employees of Unilever and their families. During this decade the houses were first sold privately. The former village school is now a working men's club.
Port Sunlight was widely celebrated. In 1912 it became the subject of a hit West End musical comedy, The Sunshine Girl, at the Gaiety Theatre, London. It starred Phyllis Dare, one of the most popular pin-ups of the Edwardian era, and was written by Paul Alfred Rubens. The show introduced the tango dance to British audiences. In 1919 Lever Brothers made a 40-minute long sponsored film, Port Sunlight, to promote the town and factory
Port Sunlight contains 900 Grade II listed buildings, and was declared a Conservation Area in 1978. Port Sunlight has been informally suggested for World Heritage Site (WHS) status to protect it from development and to preserve the unique character for future generations; however, it is not yet on the current UK "tentative list" for future consideration as a WHS.

87-foot Coastal Patrol Boat (WPB 87328)
Marine Protector Class
Length: 87 feet
Beam: 19 feet
Displacement: 90 tons
Power plant: Two diesel engines
Maximum Speed: 23+ knots
Crew: 10 personnel
Maximum Range: 900 miles
Primary Missions: Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Defense Operations
At 0850 local time January 24th, 2001, the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter RIDLEY moored at her new homeport in Montauk, Long Island, New York. The USCGC RIDLEY is "IN SERVICE, SPECIAL" status. CGCRidley will begin its training and familiarization prior to being commissioned March 23, 2001. The Coast Guard Cutter Ridley (WPB 87328), is one of the Marine Protector class patrol boats. The Ridley is stationed in Montauk to perform search and rescue, law enforcement, and marine environmental protection missions. CGC Ridley is the 28th Marine Protector class patrol boat to be delivered to the Coast Guard by Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. in Lockport, LA. This new 50-vessel class is designed to replace the aging 82-foot Point Class patrol boats currently in service. CGC Ridley is the replacement for the Coast Guard Cutter Point Wells, which was decommissioned on October 13, 2000 after 36 years of service. Several design innovations have been incorporated into this new class, including a fully integrated electronics suite and the ability to sail with completely mixed-gender crews, which was not previously possible on a vessel of this size.
This year 2009, New York honors the 400th anniversaries of the voyage of Captain Henry Hudson, who led (for the Dutch) the first European expedition to sail up the river that now bears his name, as well as the voyage of Samuel de Champlain, the first to discover the namesake lake. This year also marks the 200th anniversary of Robert Fulton’s maiden steamboat journey up the Hudson River. Communities from New York to the Canadian border are preparing events and projects to highlight New York’s rich history of exploration and discovery.
The Great River Day Flotilla is one of the signature events of the commemoration. The historic “flagships” are the Clearwater, the Half Moon (a replica of Henry Hudson’s 1609 vessel), the OnRust (a replica of a 17th Century Dutch yacht), the sloop Woody Guthrie, the Mystic Whaler, the Governor Cleveland (tugboat) and the John J. Harvey (fire boat). Along the way, they will be joined by a U.S. Coast Guard escort, an antique airplane escort and numerous modern day boats.
The voyage sets sail at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, June 6, from the Statue of Liberty. The first day will conclude in the Tarrytown/Nyack area of the river, and will feature a cannon welcome and fireworks. The flotilla will move upriver each day, culminating in Albany on Saturday, June 13. The ships will depart tomorrow morning, and the flotilla can be viewed from Battery Park at 9 a.m.

Great historical relic. Value can only go up! These old stocks in the Gloucestershire village of Huntley used to be located on the main A40 road but were moved in the 1970's to the side of the recreation ground.

This is the eBook version of the printed book.
“The author introduces an investing methodology with proven results and easily applied unequivocal decision making. Particularly impressive is the way he includes a selling discipline, not just a buying discipline. This book is a must for any concerned investor.”
Richard Arms, Analyst, Author, and Inventor of The Arms Index
“This is one of the best new investing books of the decade: succinct, practical, and timeless. Built on a foundation of 40 years of market wisdom, it combines technical analysis and portfolio construction that is supported by excellent research. It should be required reading for everyone from new investors to the most sophisticated hedge fund managers.”
Linda Raschke, President, LBRGroup, Inc.
“The author is an award winning Technical Analyst. In this book, he covers the basic principles, definitions, safeguards, pitfalls, and risks of investing. Believing in active management, he recognizes the benefits of multiple tools (fundamental and technical) and disciplines there-on, to construct a portfolio methodology with guidelines for both buying and selling, for maximum gain. This is a valuable book for any serious investor.”
Louise Yamada, Managing Director, Louise Yamada Technical Research Advisors, LLC.
“In this book, Charles Kirkpatrick demonstrates just how powerful a tool relative strength is, deftly combining technical and fundamental analysis to produce a superior long-term approach. This isn’t just theory, but the real-time work of a practitioner with an outstanding track record. For many years a small group of knowledgeable investors has known about this work, now you can too.”
John Bollinger, CFA, CMT, President, Bollinger Capital Management
“The author presents a clearly written, time-tested formula for investor independence and success through applying relative price strength for stock selection and portfolio construction.”
Hank Pruden, Golden Gate University
Over the past 25 years, Charles D. Kirkpatrick’s exclusive stock-picking technique has outperformed the S&P 500’s performance by a whopping 7.7 times. That’s right: If you’d invested $10,000 in the S&P 500, you’d have $130,000 now...but if you’d followed Kirkpatrick’s published picks, you’d have $1,000,000! If that’s not amazing enough, Kirkpatrick’s system is remarkably easy to use. In this book, he teaches you all you need to put it to work in your portfolio!
Kirkpatrick reveals why an active strategy based on relative stock rankings is the surest route to profit, and how just a few pieces of publicly available information enable you to create rankings that virtually guarantee exceptional performance. You’ll learn how to use his techniques to organize stocks into a portfolio that maximizes returns while reducing risk...uncover trigger points that tell you when to buy and sell...and systematically protect yourself against bad stocks and bad markets.
Why the conventional wisdom about investing is flat-out wrong
What’s wrong with diversification, “random walks,” and the efficient markets hypothesis
Don’t even try to predict the markets: you...

Jeep

Model: Space Arrow Euro Tour
Chassis: Nissan Diesel JA520RAN
Engine: Nissan Diesel RF8

----------------------------------------------
Nissan Diesel Philippines Corporation (NDPC) with manufacturing base in Sta. Rosa City Laguna was established in 1991 to produce buses for the Philippine market. A capital of 150 million pesos, the percentage invested in Nissan Diesel is 48.5%. In 1996, the capital grew to 186 million pesos. At stake is 30% of Nissan Diesel, 13% of Subaru-FHI, and 12% of Nichimen Co. Ltd.
The model "Eurotrans" later became known as "Euro Bus" was developed from the technical provision of the Belgian Jonckheere Corporation, based on the high decker tourist bus "Deauville" of the said company. Aluminum and Fiber-Reinforced Plastics (FRP) was adapted to its body structure to achieve high performance cost. The JA340SAN model was produced for the domestic market, equipped with PE6T (290PS) engine and with variants set with leaf-spring suspension. The export models on the other hand are equipped with V8 engines such as the JA520RAN which was equipped with RF8 (310PS) engine, while the high-power output version, the JA530RAN was equipped with RG8 (350PS) engine.
Since 1996, NDPC produced hi-decker type large tourist buses for Japan. However, the final step was to produce a bus from Subaru-FHI body was done after importation, which at that time had manufactured the Nissan Diesel bus body at the Isesaki factory.
Rental bus demand declined significantly due to the widespread use of aircraft in excursions, the JA system which appears in the time when more practical large-sized tourist models was required for the bus enterprise was observed. At the beginning, a large opportunity was the low-cost edition models and was released one after another even from other competitors. As for the large customers, the Airport Transport Service Co. (Friendly Airport Limousine) ordered upto 100 units or more in large quantities at one time, therefore clearing the annual sales target of 40 units. Left-hand drive models were also exported to countries such as China and supposedly Sri Lanka, some of the last batches were acquired by Zhuhai Golf Club in Guangdong, China.
However, due to the shrinking demand for tourist buses brought by the Asian financial crisis, and the difficulty of exporting from the Philippines, the joint venture has been dissolved on December 31, 2001. Though the production of domestic models continued on thru Santa Rosa Motor Works Inc. which introduced the RB46S model, equipped with PE6T (290PS) engine and the 2008 limited edition JA450SSN model, equipped with PF6A (320PS) engine.
Ever since, the Euro Bus has been the basis of countless Philippine bus manufacturers for their designs, replicas has been spreading out from one region to another, but none has been as popular as the Euro Bus replica built by Del Monte Motor Works Inc. which is also a key player in the Philippine bus manufacturing industry, the replica was released as an aftermarket model, therefore becoming more flexible for the consumers. Hino RF821 equipped with EK100 (295PS) engine was the common models aside from the usual Nissan Diesel ones.
However, inspite of the success, the Euro bus itself is likely to be phased out, with the introduction of its potential successor, the Santa Rosa Modulo Series (also based on another Jonckheere model), its era is not far from being over.

December 12 (disarray)
I ran an errand on foot this afternoon here in Decatur, the Friendliest Neighborhood in the World. Or so I thought. Gone for 20 minutes, arrived back home to find all the good stuff gone, everything upside down. Laptop, camera, lenses, etc. gone. Cut the screen on the back porch and came in through the back door, opened drawers, dumped stuff out. Bleh.
I'm writing this at the public library a couple of blocks from my home. Somehow it feels therapeutic to share it here in my state of semi-numbness.
Thank God for renter's insurance. It's $500 I had not exactly wished to spend on my deductible, but I'm covered. It's just stuff, right? My mom, ever rejoicing, says, "Well, at least you didn't walk in on the guy. At least you didn't get shot!"
I suppose that is true.
What's creepiest is thinking of somebody walking around in my apartment, opening my drawers, dumping stuff out, rearranging things. Ugh.
Friends, back up your computer files, write your important serial numbers down on paper and make sure you have appropriate property insurance. I never thought this would happen to me, but it did. I'm really sad about it.

The redevelopment of Lansdowne Road Stadium
The redevelopment plan for Lansdowne Road Stadium envisaged the creation of a modern stadium, which, on completion, would have an all seated capacity of 50,000.
The 50,000 compared with the former Lansdowne Road Stadium which had an all seated capacity, as required for competitive Soccer, of 36,000 and a mixed standing and seated capacity of 49,000 for Rugby.
All seating in the new stadium is under cover of a roof; however, the roof does not extend over the pitch. The stadium consists of a continuous curvilinear shaped stand enclosing all four sides of the ground. The South, East and West stands have four tiers of seating for spectators.
The bottom and top tiers provide the main volume of spectating facilities.
The second tier provides facilities for premium ticket holders and the third tier provides facilities for corporate boxes. There are 10,000 seats at premium level and a further 1,300 at box level. Many of these were sold in advance to help finance the overall project.
The North stand comprises one low level seating tier, to reflect its proximity to the residential properties at that end of the ground.
There is continuous access around the three sides to all facilities at premium and box levels.
There are excellent hospitality facilities throughout the ground. These facilities are essential in any modern sports stadium to generate additional revenues and help fund the overall investment.
The redeveloped stadium is designed to provide superb facilities not alone for spectators but also for players, the media and the many support personnel needed to stage all events.
The unique design of the new stands and roof creates additional weather protected seating capacity within the constraints of the existing site. The design has been optimised to ensure all spectators have an excellent view of the pitch while retaining the unique Lansdowne Road atmosphere.
Space for the redevelopment was created by a realignment of the pitch and by the creation of a new access podium over the railway line. This podium, above the railway line, will allow spectators access the stadium at premium seat level.
The former two rear pitches which ran East-West were also realigned and combined into one pitch running North-South.
Among the many other features of the new development are:
A more balanced, across the board network of access and egress routes which make it easier and more convenient for spectators to get to and leave the stadium relieving congestion on adjoining neighbours. These include underpasses which allow the level crossing gates for the Dart to be left permanently closed on match days.
Improved player facilities for home and away teams, custom designed to meet the requirements of the various codes. These include warm up rooms and state-of-the-art treatment facilities.
Enhanced press facilities for 200 journalists (increasing to 400 for certain events) including TV monitors, interview rooms and all modern connectivity requirements.
TV / Radio commentary boxes located on the upper level with optimum viewing locations and easy access to flash interview positions, backed up by a generous outside broadcasting vehicle area.
Provision of a large number of high quality toilets adequate both for match days and for events such as concerts where there may be a different mix of spectators.
Quality medical support facilities for both players and spectators.
Better facilities for disabled fans.
Wide concourses and comfortable spatial allowances to ensure easy circulation for spectators.
An architectural theme that is exciting and innovative in harmony with the surrounding cityscape.
Clear delineation between spectator and service areas ensuring that service and / or emergency vehicles need never compete with spectators for the same space.
A hi-tech communications nerve centre to allow for continuous monitoring of all aspects of the stadium, both inside and outside the ground.
Pitch floodlighting incorporated in the new stands.
Roof design that makes best use of available sunlight which is as low as physically possible while being compatible with cross-stadium viewing.

Enda Kenny Launches College Recruitment Campaign

Fine Gael Party Leader Enda Kenny T.D., today (Wednesday)launched Young Fine Gael’s college recruitment campaign to hit over 20 colleges throughout the country. “Young people have been the hardest hit by Fianna Fail’s mismanagement of the economy. Fine Gael is offering them an alternative. “Our party wants a different direction for the country, one in which young people can see a bright future rather than one that will be mired in debt and uncertainty. “It is apt that we launch this campaign on the first day that the Dail debates NAMA. This €90 billion gamble will be placed more heavily on the shoulders of the young just as the tragedy of unemployment has laid waste to their hopes for the future. “Shockingly, those between the ages of 18 and 25 make up one quarter of people on the Live Register. One hundred thousand of our young people are out of work. Half of all mortgages granted during the ‘boom years’ were to those under 30. There are no bailouts or quick fixes being proposed for them.
“Fine Gael has set out a alternative to NAMA, we have outlined a different direction for the third level sector, and, through our NewERA plan, €11 billion in new investments creating 100,000 jobs. “Fine Gael is offering change to young people. We welcome their involvement in politics and will encourage them to run for election. We had 60 young Councillors elected in the Local Elections and will strive to continue this success.” PIC:MAXPIX-NO FEE
