PACIFIC OCEAN (October 9, 2010) - Aviation BoatswainOs Mate (Fuel) Airman Justin Aymond from Lake Charles, La. opens a JP-5 station outlet to take samples of the newly received JP-5 fuel during a replenishment at sea between USS George Washington (CVN 73) and Military Sealift CommandOs fleet replenishment oiler USNS Tippecanoe (T-AO 199). Samples are taken from JP-5 pumps to test the oil for irregularities in texture, consistency and strength. The Navy's ability to replenish its ships at sea contributes to the Navy's vast reach and continued mission readiness. George Washington, the NavyOs only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, is currently underway helping to ensure security and stability in the western Pacific Ocean.
