JinMao Tower, Shanghai Grand Hyatt

JinMao Tower, Shanghai Grand Hyatt

JinMao Tower, Shanghai Grand Hyatt
This is a spectacular building… The Jin Mao Tower (simplified Chinese: ????; traditional Chinese: ????; pinyin: Jin Mao Dasha; literally "Golden Prosperity Building") is an 88-story landmark supertall skyscraper in the Lujiazui area of the Pudong district of Shanghai, People's Republic of China. It contains offices and the Shanghai Grand Hyatt hotel. Until 2007 it was the tallest building in the PRC, the fifth tallest in the world by roof height and the seventh tallest by pinnacle height. Along with the Oriental Pearl Tower, it is a centerpiece of the Pudong skyline. It was surpassed on September 14, 2007 by the Shanghai World Financial Center.

The Jin Mao (JinMao) tower is the highest deluxe five -star hotel of the world. It stands 420.5m high, with 88 stories in total. The atrium 152m tall, and has a diameter of 27m. It has 28 winding corridors.

The 3-story basement has a food court, express elevators to the observation deck, and 600 vehicle and 7,500 bicycle parking spaces below. Above, 61 elevators (supplied by Mitsubishi) and 19 escalators carry visitors throughout the building. The lower 50 floors are made up of 123,000 m? of Grade A offices. Levels 51 and 52 are mechanical floors.

The building's anchor tenant is the five-star, 555-room Shanghai Grand Hyatt hotel which occupies floors 53 to 87. It is the highest hotel in the world in terms of distance from the ground. Additionally, the world's longest laundry chute runs down the full length of the tower to the basement, and incorporates buffers to slow down the laundry during its descent.

The Hyatt's famous barrel-vaulted atrium starts at the 56th floor and extends upwards to the 87th. Lined with 28 annular corridors and staircases arrayed in a spiral, it is 27m in diameter with a clear height of approximately 115m. It is one of the tallest atriums in the world.

Jin Mao Tower during the dayThe hotel floors also feature:

53/F: The Piano Bar, a jazz club.
54/F: The hotel lobby and Grand cafe, served by an express elevator from the tower's ground floor.
55/F: Canton, a high-end Cantonese restaurant that takes up the entire floor.
56/F: On Fifty-Six, a collection of restaurants including The Grill, the Italian Cucina, the Japanese Kobachi, and the Pati which is inside the atrium base.
57/F: Club Oasis, a fitness club featuring the world's highest swimming pool.
85/F: Highest rooms; this is also a transfer level for the elevators going to the two floors above.
86/F: Club Jin Mao, a Shanghainese restaurant.
87/F: Cloud 9, the world's highest bar (although higher restaurants exist), with a split-level mezzanine called the Sky Lounge. It is chosen by some visitors as a comfortable alternative to the observation deck above, since the lowest-priced drinks are the same price as the admission to the deck. Possibly in response to this, the hotel sets a RMB 120 (+15% service) minimum charge after 10:00pm.

The Jin Mao Tower and the metro station The 88th floor (not part of the hotel) houses the Skywalk, a 1,520m? indoor observation deck with a capacity of 1,000+ people. In addition to the panoramic views of Shanghai, it offers a topside view of the hotel atrium below. It also includes a small post office. Access is through two express elevators from the basement that travel at 9.1m/s and take 45 seconds to reach the top. As of 2007 admission costs RMB 70 (approx. US $10), half for children.

Levels 89-93, which occupy the building's spire, are mechanical floors not accessible to the public. They are illuminated in bright white at night.

The Oasis Mall (Mahmoud Said Mall) : Temporary Abondoned

The Oasis Mall (Mahmoud Said Mall) : Temporary Abondoned

«The Oasis Mall» or «Mahmoud Said Mall», one of the famous malls in Jaddah.Opened in 2003 , and considered by many as the spark that gave a new concept in the design of markets and mega-malls.

A world class shopping center, designed by several international companies covering a built area of 110,000 square meters. It cost about 150 million US$ to develop and you'll know why. It's a piece of art because its unique design and to the fact that it covers the largest area of mosaic marble flooring in the world (42,000 sq. meters) and is registered in Guinness book of world records, it also has a huge wonderful stained glass on the ceiling.

The center is composed of a large commercial area and a six storey luxury hotel.includes 250 shops, a supermarket, a food court, and kids play area, in addition to a group of exclusive high quality gourmet restaurants.

Unfortunately, the magnificent architectural didn't take his time. because the mall is located at the intersection of two crowded & very important roads, which are : The King Faha Road. and The King Abdullah Road.In 2005, the intersection was partial closed in order to build a bridge to become the main road to dismantling of traffic congestion in that area, which cause isolation of the region and make very hard reach the center...
And despite the end of the bridge in 2007, it was enough to collapse of the center and the emergence of many other choices and malls competition, which made many people forget about his visit because of the excavations built around him and made many people rethink when planning to visit him.
This problem cause lots of losses to the mall, and lots of shops and restaurants begin to close, and after many attempts by management to reduce losses, they eventually close the center in January 2009, and redistributed all shops and restaurants to other shopping malls and mega malls that newly built in many places in Jeddah in the last few years.

Yes, the only disadvantage thing is it bad position ,but it isn't sufficient reason for failing. On the other hand we see that the center has all the ingredients for success: such as spacious parking that can holds for more than 800 cars, and group of exclusive high quality gourmet restaurants, many shops of global brands and in addition, kids play area.

According to what we heard, it is now under renovations to turn it into a 5 star-deluxe hotel operated by a known global hotel companies. At the mean time the mall still closed, and we hope to reopen this center again soon.

This photo from photo-book published in 1426 A.H (2005/2006) talking about Jeddah. Notice that this picture was taking before bridge project started.
