Lady Gaga - "The Living Dress" - The Monster Ball 2010
This dress is called the "Living Dress". It was designed by Lady Gaga and her artist friends. They call themselves the "Haus of Gaga". The dress has a matching headpiece, translucent wings, and transparent high heels. The headpiece fans out into different positions and the sides of the dress physically move up and down while Gaga sings, hence the "Living" part of it's name. The wings start out pushed down, and then pop up. The dress has a really long train that flows behind her while she walks.
The dress takes about 3 minutes to put on, and Gaga can't do it by herself. During the show, a huge circular LED screen falls down, completely surrounding her and her dancers, hiding them away while they help put the dress on her. Fans are shown a video of Gaga twirling in a tornado during the 3 minutes, which plays to techno music.
Once the dress is on her, the screen lifts back up to the ceiling and her dancers leave. She can barely move in it, so she stays where she is standing, which ends up being a circular platform which rises about 15-20 feet in the air above the runway. The song that she performs during this time is "So Happy I Could Die". Fans are shown a huge video feed of her on a large curtain that falls down in front of the stage while she is performing, so that they can see the dress moving. The platform lowers back down towards the end of the song, and Gaga slowly walks down the runway towards the stage and exits.
I think this is the most amazing thing she's ever worn. I think it's absolutely gorgeous.
The City Hall of Toronto, Ontario, Canada is the home of the city's municipal government and one of its most distinctive landmarks. Designed by Finnish architect Viljo Revell (with Heikki Castren, Bengt Lundsten, Seppo Valjus) and landscape architect Richard Strong, and engineered by Hannskarl Bandel, the building opened in 1965. It was built to replace Old City Hall, which was built in 1899. The current City Hall, located at Nathan Phillips Square, is actually Toronto’s fourth city hall and was built in order to replace the former city hall due to a shortage of space. The area of Toronto City Hall and the civic square was formerly the location of Toronto's old chinatown, which was expropriated and bulldozed during the mid-1950's in preparation for a new civic building.
