Complex Filter Design

complex filter design

    filter design
  • Filter design is the process of designing a filter (in the sense in which the term is used in signal processing, statistics, and applied mathematics), often a linear shift-invariant filter, which satisfies a set of requirements, some of which are contradictory.

    complex
  • complicated in structure; consisting of interconnected parts; "a complex set of variations based on a simple folk melody"; "a complex mass of diverse laws and customs"

  • Form a complex

  • a conceptual whole made up of complicated and related parts; "the complex of shopping malls, houses, and roads created a new town"

  • a compound described in terms of the central atom to which other atoms are bound or coordinated

  • Make (an atom or compound) form a complex with another

complex filter design - FPGA-based Implementation

FPGA-based Implementation of Signal Processing Systems

FPGA-based Implementation of Signal Processing Systems

Field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) are an increasingly popular technology for implementing digital signal processing (DSP) systems. By allowing designers to create circuit architectures developed for the specific applications, high levels of performance can be achieved for many DSP applications providing considerable improvements over conventional microprocessor and dedicated DSP processor solutions. The book addresses the key issue in this process specifically, the methods and tools needed for the design, optimization and implementation of DSP systems in programmable FPGA hardware. It presents a review of the leading-edge techniques in this field, analyzing advanced DSP-based design flows for both signal flow graph- (SFG-) based and dataflow-based implementation, system on chip (SoC) aspects, and future trends and challenges for FPGAs. The automation of the techniques for component architectural synthesis, computational models, and the reduction of energy consumption to help improve FPGA performance, are given in detail.
Written from a system level design perspective and with a DSP focus, the authors present many practical application examples of complex DSP implementation, involving:
high-performance computing e.g. matrix operations such as matrix multiplication;
high-speed filtering including finite impulse response (FIR) filters and wave digital filters (WDFs);
adaptive filtering e.g. recursive least squares (RLS) filtering;
transforms such as the fast Fourier transform (FFT).
FPGA-based Implementation of Signal Processing Systems is an important reference for practising engineers and researchers working on the design and development of DSP systems for radio, telecommunication, information, audio-visual and security applications. Senior level electrical and computer engineering graduates taking courses in signal processing or digital signal processing shall also find this volume of interest.

New Sarawak State Legislative Building

New Sarawak State Legislative Building

The New Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building (Malay: Dewan Undangan Negeri Sarawak Baharu) is the new Sarawak's state legislative assembly building. It is located near Sarawak River in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. The building was officially opened by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin on 27 July 2009.

This nine-storey high building is the venue for future Sarawak's new state legislative assembly sittings. The distinctive "payung" (umbrella) roof of the new DUN complex is an iconic landmark for Sarawak what the Sydney Opera House is to Australia or the Eiffel Tower is to Paris. The architecture of the new complex combines unique elements of Sarawak's heritage with state-of-the-art intelligent building automation systems, multimedia communication facilities, and environmentally-friendly features. The new complex development covers and area measuring 172 acres near The Astana (Governor's Residence) on the banks of Sarawak River in Petra Jaya, Kuching. The new chamber can hold up to 108 members, each with their own office. It also has 142 seats for civil servants, 86 in the VIP gallery and 106 in the public gallery. Its architecture and design have meticulously taken into account the future needs of elected representatives.

The building is fully equipped with high-tech information and communication technology. This new DUN complex, perched on the promontory on the pristine bank of the Sarawak River and nestled between the Astana and Fort Margherita, has been described as one of the most beautiful buildings in Southeast Asia. It is also a depiction of the state’s strles and achievements over the years after gaining independence through the formation of Malaysia and as a multi-racial society. Reinforced by nine gigantic pillars and numerous arches, the building reflects the sovereignty of the people’s power as well as the support of all the races in the state.

The contract for the design, construction and completion of the new DUN complex is valued at RM300 million. Construction is targeted for completion in September 2007. As of January 2009 it was incomplete and appears to be a considerable way from completion. The new complex was completed on 31 May 2009.

The project is a joint-venture of Sarawak's leading construction companies - Bina Puri Holdings Bhd, PPES Works (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd and Naim Cendera Sdn Bhd. PPES Works (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd is 51% owned by Main Board listed entity, Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad, and 49% held by state-owned Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC). Meanwhile, Naim Cendera Sdn Bhd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Main Board of Bursa Malaysia listed entity Naim Cendera Holdings Berhad.

Taming sari tower,malacca,malaysia

Taming sari tower,malacca,malaysia

Officially opened for business on the 18th of April 2008, Menara Taming Sari is the first and only gyro tower in Malaysia so far. Measuring 110 metres in height, its revolving structure offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Malacca town and beyond.

Located in the popular district of Bandar Hilir on Jalan Merdeka, only 3 minutes’ walk from Mahkota Parade Shopping Complex and Dataran Pahlawan Megamall, the tower is named after the Taming Sari keris, a mythical weapon said to possess mystical powers belonging to the legendary Malay warrior, Hang Tuah. Even the structure’s design follows the shape of the keris, with the peak of the tower resembling the its hilt.

Built using advanced Swiss technology, the tower’s structure is reportedly tough enough to withstand earthquakes measuring up to 10 on the Richter scale. Able to accommodate 80 people per viewing session, which lasts about 7 minutes, the glass cabin hypnotically revolves as it rises from the ground to the top of the tower.

Once it reaches the top, a breathtaking, sprawling view of Malacca as far as the eye can see, up to the Straits of Malacca, is clearly visible, especially in good weather, with the Melaka River running through the grand panorama below.
