Breek de dag, Kraak een woning!
Netherlands, 2003. (never shared before)
A farm we had squatted successfully.
I remember this night, we came back very late after some breakcore party or something.
It was cold and we were making tea with coffee filters in empty beer cans.
The beer cans are from a brand I used to buy often. You could get a sixpack for like 2euro something. And there was an error with the barcore so a scam was often possible to get them for one euro cheaper.
These were hard times and at some point I could not handle the madness any more.
At some point I eventually left the squat and almost did not come back any more, It changed to a drug house and more and more junkies inhabited it.
Before we had squatted it it was squatted once before and was occupied by heroin junkies.
I wanted to make a beautiful place out of this building, unfortunately the story ended for the second time with heroin junkies.
Those people got kicked out and then they demolished the building.
One of the sickest thing about this place was that our garden was ending in a waste dump, and we had lots of chemical waste on the edge of our garden.
Not exactly a place to build a permaculture garden.
I remember waking up at 6 in the morning from police knocking on the windows who were not aware it was squatted yet. I also remember a great concert from friends playing here. I remember falling through the roof of a shed. I remember stealing food from the supermarkets and cooking it above self made BBQ s from found bricks, I remember fighting over who could sleep on a door and who was sleeping on the floor. I have only one photo of this place, but the memories will never go away.
Squatting goes on! Laws cant stop it, and everyone has the right to live in a house, or if they for some reasons find difficult to live in a house should be able to live as they please on a piece of land.
Wonen is een recht!!
EDIT: It makes me rage beyond words we have to pay money in order to simply being able to have a roof above our heads. How the hell is it right to privatise things like land or water, these kind of things are a basic right to every living being on the planet.
It is easy to maintain a system based on death if you offer people no "legal" alternatives.
Who says its legal what they do? Who are they to think we acknowledge THEIR laws. after all its THEIR law, not OURS!
Found One !!!
We found one that is in wonderful condition, old enough for the outgassing to take place and looks well taken care of. I sat in it and it felt pretty good. Not 100%, but closer to being less toxic then my house, much closer to be less toxic then apartments and other trailers I looked at. I hope and pray this works out, at least as a temp fix (roof over my head). I've been through this many times before that something feels pretty safe to me and come to find out a week or so later that I can't be around it. I hope that doesn't happen with this. We will be picking it up this weekend, I can't wait.......
We had a new air filter put in the car before we left. It must had been treated with chemicals. It was making my eyes roll back in m y head and I was passing out. I couldn't stay awake enough to drive. I wasn't much good for helping with the driving unfortunatly.
I did read about this couple that made their own home on wheels. They had used all safe products with no toxins. They found safe locations to put it, I'm assuming perhaps they moved from winter to summer?
This is one of the most important parts of finding better health with EI/MCS is to have a safe place to live. I've drempt of finding it someday. It's not going to happen if "I" dont make it happen!!!
